I saw my Dr last week and, among other things, mentioned I'd been feeling quite low and teary, particularly before my period. She suggested St John's Wort. I bought some, but I was unsure about taking it so only took it for the first time last night.
I feel pretty bad today and I was just wondering how long before I noticed anything different?
I don't know what else to do at the moment, so I really hope it does something.

It wont be immediate but can be very effective after a few weeks. You need to buy a very good quality with a high GLA (?) or whatever it is, in the tablet. Google and get the best, it is worth it and totally harmless, unlike prescription anti depressants.
Sorry you are feeling down.

Sorry not GLA - High quantity of Hypercum is what you need for good effects.

Thank you. I have the Kira ones, but will have to google whether they are high quality or not.
It sounds like you have had success with it, though, so that's good to know. Thank you.
i find it quite good straight away, even on an "as and when" basis.
Not for severe depression, but certainly for low to medium level. Im using the tincture drops to help me reduce and eventually come off my venlafaxine. It wasnt even nearly enough when my depression was severe
Another one to try is 5htp, which works within a few days

Thank you. I haven't heard of 5htp before - is that natural?
This is all a bit new to me and I'm finding it a bit hard. Thanks again.

Am I right in thinking St John's Wort affects the contraceptive pill? I would love to try it, rather than get ad's from the doctor, but I can't come off the pill for it...
Good info here
Kira, IIRC, is one of the brands they did clinical trials on and has been proven to be effective. I think you're supposed to give it up to 6 weeks to kick in. Hang on in there and I hope it works for you.
Yes, not good with hormones or prescription ADs.

Thank you - that link looks very interesting. Kira was certainly expensive - bit if it's potentially worth it, then I'm glad.
Thanks again.
