Think I started panic attacks

I've been depressed for a couple of months and I'm becoming reclusive with it. Other than work I haven't left the house for over a month.

I used to have the low mood and depression constantly but now the anxiety is getting worse.

I often wake up in the night with my heart pounding & my hands shaking, chest tight, knot in my tummy, sweating. etc. On Thursday last week I started getting more & more anxious at work, I left on time, by the time I was on the train it was getting worse and tears were rolling down my cheeks, by the time I got home, my chest and stomach were so heavy I was moaning as it was so painful.

Are these panic attacks?

They are terrifying......!

Sounds like a panic attack. I used to suffer really badly and I genuinely thought I was going to die whenever I had one. Go to your GP and ask to be referred for CBT. x

I'm on my own. Brutal break up had triggered this.

I've had valium but can't go to work on it. Zopiclone doesn't work at night now.

I found prozac aggravated the symptoms.

I don't know what to do.

I'm sorry you're going through this, it does sound like panic attacks. When I was having them I discovered that a whole 2mg Valium sent me to sleep but half of one made it possible to keep going, so you could try that for now?
How long did you try the Prozac for? I am on sertraline, a different SSRI with similar effects, and they are known for making the anxiety worse before it gets better. In my case the first two weeks were awful, but now I am incredibly better.
Therapy is also very good for finding out what the anxiety is really about. And I've heard xcellent things about CBT, which you can ask your GP to refer you for. I am currently having EMDR treatment, also very good for panic attacks.
Good luck!

The anxiety I experienced was so bad I needed a day off work. only on the prozac for a few days. I had to stop and haven't had the anxiety as bad again.

I guess I'll have to live with the depression....

Valium is good but addictive.
