Loneliness is not the cause of your DMs mental heath problems, it is a symptom. You are not responsible for her mental health in any way, you cant make or help her to get better. I am so sorry. The best thing for you to do would be to ask her doctors how you can help but dont give up your soul trying to support your mum emotionally or you will risk your own wellbeing.

Hugs

Begin by taking care of yourself. The Mind website is pretty good, with loads of information on helping loved ones through this sort of thing.

DM is on a psych ward for depression and under one to one watch after several suicide attempts.

I don't know where to begin in helping her so grateful for any pointers.

She says loneliness is her main issue although she lives with DSis (who is out at work all day.)
