Hi, I have a really bad phobia of being sick. Can anyone recommend any anti sickness tablets that work when you have a tummy bug. I have 2 children of school age and when eather of them are sick i panic that i will be next. I do my best to avoid getting it clean with bleach etc A friend recommended motilium to me but i can see how they would work if you had a sickness bug. does anyone have any advice? this phobia is starting to rule my life and my hands are so sore from washing all the time. thankyou

I'm not a doctor but as awful as it is, being sick is the bodys way of fighting infection. If you prevent it you could end up seriously ill IMHO.

Sorry, not much use I know!

I have this phobia. Have you spoken to your gp about it yet? I have had a course of cbt which modified the fear, and I am also prescribed metocloprimide and diazepam for panic situations.

I'm also looking into some hypnosis for the winter months.

I have to say though, I have had a sick bug all this week and while I have felt very ill I have not been sick, so it may not be as bad as you fear.

I still suggest the gp though. Most of them will have heard of this phobia as it's very common.

Not sure if you have seen it or not but there is a whole other thread about sick phobia-emetophobia. Please have a look there.
