Been told today by GP that I'm suffering from emotional stress...

Has anyone else been told this after a trip to their GP? I am constantly tired all the time, it never lifts. I don't feel particularly low in mood, look forward to getting up each day, etc. I have a fairly good life, plenty stuff to look forward to..I just want to get to the bottom of why I'm tired all the time, really exhausted, it doesn't ever shift.

I have had blood tests done which have ruled out anything physical that can be wrong with me. GP certain that it's emotional stress and as I'm a SAHM I need to get more 'me time'.

Looking for others who are in a similar situation to talk to about all of this. I have been this way for over 10 years now (before DC).

I was in similar circumstances up until about 3 months ago. I was looking forward to getting up every morning, didn't have low mood or mood swings, was always cracking a joke and having a laugh.

The problem was that I was feeling like I hadn't slept in a week every morning. I knew there was something wrong but all my blood tests came out spot on. My GP knew about my renal infection and ordered bloods like KFT, TFT, LFT, FBC and others, to see if the infection had come back (I was told I could have a relapse at any time). All those bloods came out as normal, so all was physically well.

I just didn't know what was up, so I gave up trying to find out.

thanks for responding to my post PackItInNow :) At least all physical causes in your case were ruled out too. I suppose it's something to be grateful for, knowing you are well in the physical sense. I am trying to think like that, but I also am aware that I cannot go on like this. It's not normal. Others manage nights out, I cannot stay awake for longer than 10pm each evening. Never go out late as I'm too exhausted to enjoy myself....the list is exhaustive! Anyhow, I'm back to the GP in over a week's time (DH thinks a different GP would be better, as getting fobbed off with 'emotional stress' isn't really getting to the bottom of why I'm like this).

Do you have low blood pressure?
What were you like when you were a teen, and presumably going out sometimes? Did you for instance benefit from a nap before you went out?

Did you do lots of exams in your teens?
What were you like when you were a child?
Do you have other things going on.or gone on in your life such as emotionally draining parents?

@ amillionyears - no, I don't have low blood pressure (this was normal at a visit to FPC just last month). I had to have naps before going anywhere as a teen, really. Had the chance to do this before having children - not so easy these days when children are around. I just found it very tiring being out, just want to get back to bed to sleep.

Had an average amount of exams as a teen at school, same with uni (although I did have a few meltdowns whilst at uni, wondering if I could carry on with the course as I was finding it so exhausting). Nothing so significant going on in my life as a stressor, that isn't typical of anyone else's lifestyle. SAHM, two DC, don't out on evening socialising as I cannot stay awake beyond 10pm. Tend to socialise in mornings/lunch times.

Oops, missed out the child bit! I considered myself to have a normal childhood, grew up with both parents and a brother. Nothing really to note there. It was a happy time, had friends, went out to parties, had hobbies, etc.

What is your normal diet like, weight.
Does any tonic ever work for you, or possibly vitamin pills?
I am not a professional btw.
Do you feel a little better after you have a few days off/rest?

I eat well, drink water. I very rarely eat junk food (not a fan of McD's). Takeaway once in a blue moon.

I do feel better after a period of rest, but not easy to do this very often.

I don't take vitamin pills as I consider myself to eat well.
