I know that I struggle with exercise...I've ordered the DVD and am going to take some measurements and check in here!!!

Anyone else who wants to join in LET'S GO!!!!!!

BetsyBell Wed 24-Jul-13 20:53:23

Found you! Yup, I did day 1 today (not for the first time!) and plan to go it most weekdays until I go on holiday... in a week.

GrimmaTheNome Wed 24-Jul-13 20:56:54

can you just clarify - do you mean doing 5:2/4:3 fast and also 30 day shred? (if so I might be able to chip in a tip or two) smile

monster54 Wed 24-Jul-13 20:58:12

Same here, plan on weekdays only. If I can squeeze in a weekend I will try!!

Actually quite motivated and looking forward to it arriving!!! I'll prob change my mind once I've done day one!!! Ha ha!!

monster54 Wed 24-Jul-13 20:59:29

grimma yes please!! How is shredding on fast days??

BetsyBell Wed 24-Jul-13 21:08:34

Are you going to pop a link up on the main thread so the others can find us? I just saw it by chance!

I did my first session of Shred (first time round!) 20 hours into a 24 hour zero fast and it nearly killed me... in a good way I think

I don't normally do much exercise on the morning after a fast day so that one will be interesting...

monster54 Wed 24-Jul-13 21:19:03

Took 2 attempts but posted!!!

Wow!!! That is hardcore! Got home tonight and was thinking if DVD had arrived would I have the energy. Today is a fix and it's been so hot I struggled. But I prob would of given it a bash not a full 100% effort!!

HellesBelles396IsDeeplyUncool Wed 24-Jul-13 21:22:41

I am L1D4 - shredding the morning AFTER FD is hard. I was very weary this morning. Shredding morning of FD fine. Though i was achey yesterday, I had energy.

BetsyBell Wed 24-Jul-13 21:39:06

My exercise 'regime' goes something like this:

Woo! Really! Motivated! For! Two! Weeks! More! MOre! MORE! Run! SHred! Pilates! Dancing! More Running! Feel GREAT!

Then... meh, can't be arsed... maybe tomorrow... for a few weeks.

In those unmotivated times I do, at least, get out on my bike and cycle loads (do all my shopping etc on my bike) although that doesn't feel like exercise really.

However, escaping on my bike isn't really an option in school holidays so really would like to get weekdays started with shred (or my other Jillian dvd) whether I feel motivated or not.

I've told the kids they have to make me do it, oddly they're well up for bossing me around wink

It will be harder when everything aches. grin

GrimmaTheNome Wed 24-Jul-13 21:48:23

I've found no problem at all doing the shred on a fast day TBH, or the next morning. I do the shred first thing in the morning - a cup of tea before whether fasting or not, and as much water as necessary, breakfast after on non-fast days. I'm on the july shred thread - it seems to me from what I see there that the people sticking to it tend to be the ones who can do it in the morning and get it over with. Obviously that isn't possible for everyone but if you have the choice of time I'd recommend early over late.

I found the first couple of days OK - 3 and 4 hard because of muscle ache especially legs (going downstairs was murder) but after that it got better so stick with it! I realised I could do a much better quad stretch if I support myself with the other hand on the furniture - a tip which for some reason Jillian doesn't mention till L2.

I did day 26 today. Never have time on Saturdays or most sundays so it will take about 6 weeks in all. But I started to feel firmer within the first week.

I've lost about 3 kg - but haven't really been trying to lose weight too hard - definitely feel less flabby and stronger so I think its well worth the effort. Its only 20 mins plus showering time.

GrimmaTheNome Wed 24-Jul-13 21:52:15

>It will be harder when everything aches
yes, but it does get better - and then once you're past the worst of the aches, that's good reason to carry on so you don't have to go through that stage again. smile

I do find checking into an MN thread helps too.

NotAsTired Wed 24-Jul-13 22:00:28

I'm on L2, but I have only been doing it three times a week. Mon/Wed/Fri. Doing it the morning of fast day. I might give it a go tomorrow am. Will let you know how I cope, if I go ahead with it.

Also, as I said on the main thread, I'm not going to start L3 until I can do the circuits in L2 like Natalie. Might be another week.

BetsyBell Wed 24-Jul-13 22:01:16

Grimma I love Shred already, it wasn't so much I gave up last time but the weather got good and I replaced it with lovely early morning running. However, in school hols I'd have to get up too early for running so it's back to Shred for me smile

HairyPotter Wed 24-Jul-13 22:16:24

Hello!

I have just (and I mean just!) finished L1D10! Woo hoo! It has been bloody hard going and a few times I really couldn't be bothered, but I have managed it with only one rest day.

L2 beckons tomorrow shock unfortunately so does my first day back at work after almost 3 weeks off. And it's a FD. <panics slightly >

Level 1 day 3. Not doing it every day, aiming for non fast days to kick off and skipping Saturday when we go to beach and I do a long swim in the sea of about 2km.

Basically, if I can do a big sea swim I do that instead of the Shred. (I live near the sea in a hot country)

Workout schedule :
Saturday big sea swim
Sunday shred and 20 pool swim
Monday big sea swim
Tuesday fast - not brave enough to try work out on fast days as I look after my toddler and find that quite tiring!
Wednesday shred and 20 min pool swim
Thursday fast
Friday shred and pool swim or big sea swim if time.

Hoping to eventually Shred on fast days but working into this slowly. First time I've had any time to except use at all since DS was born, as he's started SN playgroup 9-12 weekdays. I still have to do housework, shopping and admin/errands plus pick up and drop off and cooking when he's at playgroup but at last I can try to fit in something for myself as well - exercise!

Hence sea swimming when I can because as well as being great exercise it's like meditation for me, it is good for my soul. Love Jillian but nobody could describe her as peaceful!

Should say, first time I've had any chance to exercise

Bloody phone

monster54 Thu 25-Jul-13 07:53:28

Wow lots of people going for it!!!

Do those who are not doing it everyday still finding their getting results? I am going to try but I am being realistic!!!!

I will go with mornings too I think! Done and dusted!!!

HellesBelles396IsDeeplyUncool Thu 25-Jul-13 08:08:03

Tired and grumpy following a fairly sleepless night. I found a spider in my bed. It took me an hour to be able to relax but then I found another one on the wall beside my bed. Went downstairs for a cuppa and there was a daddy-long-legs blundering about the kitchen.

Do not want to fast. Do not want to shred.

But do not want to feel like this all day.

Going to try playing happy music til I degrump. It's going to be a tough one.

BetsyBell Thu 25-Jul-13 08:55:57

Level1Day2 - done. I wasn't complaining nearly as much about the side lunges with arm raises today! Still crap at proper press ups though.

Hugs to HellesBelles, you probably don't want Jillian shouting at you if you feel crap, but you could shout back at her and it might help elevate your mood!

BTW - did your name change have anything to do with that thread slating numbers in usernames?! Cos if it is, I like yer style grin

T&D Only a few days before I get to do some sea swimming smile

HellesBelles396IsDeeplyUncool Thu 25-Jul-13 09:06:18

BetsyBell thr cut-out-and -keep guide to mumsnet for new parents (aka duke and duchess of cambridge) may have been the inspiration for my name change!

Following several disney songs and jai ho! I am ready to leave my pit, get dressed and consider some exercise. Or no exercise but a liquid fast since last night's cuppa became a deluxe hot chocolate and a slice of fruit cake using up today's fd calories...

monster54 Thu 25-Jul-13 09:15:56

Well done betsy I'm with you on the motivation front. Borrowed a treadmill. Went crazy got running loads and good few miles....something comes up throws routine out and now it's collecting dust!!

I'm hoping although intense that this is only 20mins and my ability to commit will be better!! Also got a friend involved!!!

NotAsTired Thu 25-Jul-13 09:34:12

Well done betsy. Am also shredded this morning. L2 although I am not keeping tally of the days though because I'm not doing this everyday.

monster even doing it 3 times a week, I have seen results. Legs firmer, tummy slightly less jiggly, arm muscles bit defined, fitness levels definitely up, feeling stronger (although that last one is probably psychological)

helles nothing like exercise to lift the mood (or so they tell me).

monster54 Thu 25-Jul-13 10:23:03

Fab news notastired just waiting for my DVD now!!!

Did everyone but weights I was just thinking tins of soup for starters???

Do I need anything else??

NotAsTired Thu 25-Jul-13 10:56:19

monster it was water bottles for me ( the ones that are slender in the middle). Whatever is comfortable for you. I think tins of soup might be a bit hard to hold - in terms of getting your hands around it but then I have small hands!

If you have hard wooden floors, you will need a mat, otherwise a towel is fine for the floor exercises.

HellesBelles396IsDeeplyUncool Thu 25-Jul-13 11:00:38

Monster you could do the first couple of days without any weights to give yourself a chance to practice the movements at lower resistance.

I have 1kg handweights -just enough to create resistance but not so heavy that I'll bulk/fall over. I think they were only about a fiver (new) but I am sure ebay will have loads given how often peopls good intentions disappear.

monster54 Thu 25-Jul-13 11:06:00

Thanks ladies your right helles going to go no weights for first couple of times, get used to the moved.

Although read somewhere they are quite straight forward. I'm not know for my coordination!!!!

HellesBelles396IsDeeplyUncool Thu 25-Jul-13 11:11:29

They are really straight forward but much more effective if you get your posture right and engage your core. It's easier to keep an eye on that without weights. Just keep tension in your arms to replace the weights.

HellesBelles396IsDeeplyUncool Thu 25-Jul-13 11:18:18
BetsyBell Thu 25-Jul-13 12:02:18

I got weights from Sports Direct dirt cheap - I went for 1.5kg. I wouldn't recommend tins - they'd slip out of sweaty hands too easily! Water bottles would be ok.

It's fast paced so it's a good idea to get used the moves first and really make sure you're getting the poses right - I know I've injured myself a bit in the past by not realising it's your butt that should be sticking out rather than knees for squats etc. Jillian does good instructions though.

GrimmaTheNome Thu 25-Jul-13 12:06:22

When you get to level 3 there's one move you really need proper dumbbells for (plank with arm and leg raises) and one which you might want a heavier weight (forgotten what its called but you're only using one weight). Plenty of time to sort that out smile

Inspired by you all to shred on a fast day; it was fine. Told myself I could always have scrambled egg after if I needed to and actually found it easier than usual!

Using 5lb weights which is 2.2kg apart from dreaded side lunges when I use 4lb. It's quite hard to 'bulk up' so I use heaviest weights I can for the reps and it doesn't make me bulky; only lifting super heavy weights for short bursts at capacity like a weight lifter makes me have muscles.
Think a lot of women are scared of weights but my ex gym lady educated me on it all and now I go for it!

Forgot to say had fab results with shred before DS was born and so looking forward to getting my body back - got a suitcase of clothes waiting after 3 years for me!

Broadbean1 Thu 25-Jul-13 17:20:22

Just finished L1 D10 of 30 day shred. I made the mistake of looking ahead at level 2 and scared myself. I really want to keep the momentum going now that I have started this.

gaggiagirl Thu 25-Jul-13 17:25:09

if it helps to know.... I lost 7 inches of flab from chest, waist, gut, hips and thighs from the 30 day shred I'm now on day 20 of round two.

HairyPotter Thu 25-Jul-13 22:39:33

L2D1 here, FD day as well.

Can't say I enjoyed it. I have got as far as L2D5 twice before I gave up in the past. Hate hate hate anything planky <it's a word grin> Not loving double jump ropes either.

I'm really going to do my best to get to day 10 this time round. I feel a lot more motivated now, 5.2 is going well so hopefully I'll get there.

Good luck to everyone shredding (and fasting) tomorrow.

NotAsTired Fri 26-Jul-13 08:29:20

Thought I would try L3 just to see if I could do it. Oh. My. Gosh. The combination of cardio and weights were a killer. I could not do all the moves (even without hand weights) and I kept having to stop and rewind because I found the coordination hard. But... I got through it.

delilahmoo Fri 26-Jul-13 08:32:10

Shred has arrived!! Start Monday ......

BetsyBell Fri 26-Jul-13 08:55:01

L1D3 - I was reluctant this morning thanks to lack of sleep, achiness (from Shredding!) and being post fast BUT I've done it and I didn't 'phone it in' as Jillian warns us against!

I always always do extra stretches after - the cool down has definitely been skimped on to keep it within 20mins.

I've started exercising in shorts and sports bra. It's pretty depressing being able to see all the post-kids and post weight loss slack skin but also very motivating - and at least there isn't so much fat left under than skin smile My tummy and thighs are a bit of a mess though. I'm hoping that the slow weight loss and continual exercise will mean that in a year's time it won't look so bad, it's all looking a bit 'old lady' at the moment (with apologies to all the fit and toned 'old ladies' out there!).

BetsyBell Fri 26-Jul-13 08:59:50

notastired great to see you've been noticing the results already! I can't remember if I got up to L3 last time or whether I quit at level2 like HairyP. I know that I only got around to doing Killer Buns and Thighs once! Some very tricky stuff on there. I guess that's when going out for a run just seemed like the easier option wink

VulvaVoom Fri 26-Jul-13 09:25:21

Just purchased on Amazon for £5, am weirdly looking forward to starting it (I hate exercise) Bring on the shredding!

NotAsTired Fri 26-Jul-13 09:26:51

Well done Betsy for actually shredding this morning. It's very easy just to skip it, isn't it? But you didn't so that is a big plus.

At least you still don't have a lot of fat under the loose skin. I still have loads of fat. I often wonder what I would look like and what I would weigh and what size dress I would wear if I lost the fat to a healthy level.

Anyway, I'm absolutely positive that you will get the body you want. smile

monster54 Fri 26-Jul-13 09:59:20

You are all inspiring me!!!! Hoping my DVD arrives today and I might start my first day!!!

Fast day today before official weigh in tomorrow. Need to make today a good one as yesterday was loitered with birthday cake and late night fresh pasta!!!!

monster54 Fri 26-Jul-13 10:00:11

betsy I was considering doing it in my underwear for full effect!!! Keep the motivation going!!

BetsyBell Fri 26-Jul-13 11:11:08

notastired It's funny, I've never desired a particular sort of body before - mostly I've felt that if I look ok in clothes and my face is pretty enough then that'll do. But, now, I see that it is an option, I can choose to have the healthy body I want! I can change bits of it and I know how to do it. I feel like I've unlocked one of life's secrets.

I think, to a lesser extent, I've realised my reasonably pretty features will and are fading, and there's bugger all I can do about that (and I don't mind getting older, I have no issues with that) but I can change the body and I can be healthier and fitter than I ever was in my 20s!

monster It's terrifying! But it works grin!

monster54 Fri 26-Jul-13 18:22:35

I'm going for it betsy saves on washing too!!!!

Shred had arrived I'm on a FD but I am waiting for bed time and going to give it a go before 500 cal dinner. Just had water so far today!!!!

I'm all over this....although official WI tomorrow I might be up with a bit of water retention!!

monster54 Fri 26-Jul-13 19:48:28

She killed me!!!! I couldn't raise my arms to wash my hair!!!! Wow I do love her though!!!!

NotAsTired Fri 26-Jul-13 20:19:11

grin at monster. Yup, she'll do that to you. I like it when she says at the end, something like you've completed level one and you're on your way to being shredded.

BetsyBell Fri 26-Jul-13 20:52:12

"I want you to feel like you're going to die" grin Love Jillian, she's so evil!

monster54 Fri 26-Jul-13 21:17:13

I loved the motivational chat!!! I prob won't in 10 days but she's right gotta go for it if your only going to do 20 mins a day hey!!!

Think i''ll be sore tomorrow. Just hoping it doesn't screw with my WI!!

monster54 Fri 26-Jul-13 21:18:44

I will definitely do mornings on fast days as my energy wasn't at its highest even though its been a relatively easy FD for me today.

Wednesday every hour was a struggle!!!

VulvaVoom Fri 26-Jul-13 21:59:36

Oh God, sounds terrifying, bit scared now and DH is already convinced I won't do it (in a nice way - I have form) but it makes me even more determined!

HellesBelles396IsDeeplyUncool Fri 26-Jul-13 22:02:41

VVV She's just very firm about what you need to do. It is hard work but it is only for 20 minutes and you can do anything for 20 minutes smile

monster54 Fri 26-Jul-13 22:06:03

vv it goes so quick!! Well worth it!! Feel so virtuous!!! And feels like it will tone up and shift last few pounds for me!!!

VulvaVoom Fri 26-Jul-13 22:25:55

God, MN is so good for me and lots of us I guess.

I feel like you guys are all making me WANT to be fitter, healthier and thinner in a way that SW classes never did - I will never get that bloody time backsmile

We will all be toned and more importantly feeling GOOD in no time!

Can I just say that if you have an extra 5-8 minutes at the end of your shred, do extra slooooooow stretches? Do what she says but spend twice as long on each stretch, and hold furniture when you quad stretch.

It really will stop the 'cant walk down stairs/ wash hair' next day thing.

monster54 Sat 27-Jul-13 07:14:57

Woooo well official weigh in and another pound down. Try not to sabotage that this weekend now!!!!

Little achy from jillian but will rest today and poss squeeze in 20mins tomorrow if I can.

vv I'm there I'm totally with you on that feeling. We can do this!!! My 30's I'm going to look my best!!!!

HellesBelles396IsDeeplyUncool Sat 27-Jul-13 07:38:48

Add in a pretzel-stretch and a couple of back stretches - maybe a spinal twist and a swallow dive with a slow roll-up. Ooh - and a triceps stretch. And a calf stretch and a...

Or do this still brief but better stretching sessio ;

Jillian

monster54 Sat 27-Jul-13 18:24:00

The aches have got worse as the day has gone on!!

Glad I'm resting today!! Hoping to get back to it tomorrow!!

BetsyBell Sat 27-Jul-13 19:03:33

Monster I was surprised to find that I ached less after doing my 3rd day in a row than after the 2nd! Yesterday morning I was really stiff and today absolutely fine (I didn't Shred today).

Make sure you do extra stretches after the dvd cooldown. Where do you ache most? Try and stretch those muscles more after your next session.

I must look up what a pretzel stretch is! hellesbelles

monster54 Sat 27-Jul-13 19:21:51

Oh yes pretzel stretch is great but not something I could do on my own!!! Need someone shouting direction!!!!

Arms, which I expected my upper arm strength is ridiculously weak!!! And glutes and upper thighs....

Yes agreed stretching is not enough on the DVD, I will take some more time when I give it another go on Monday, but I haven't done any exercise in blinking agessssss!!!!!

<googles pretzel stretch>

monster54 Sun 28-Jul-13 12:37:05

Resting again today, still pretty sore. But going to start tomorrow!!

BetsyBell Sun 28-Jul-13 13:37:54

I'll be joining you tomorrow monster - first thing smile Are you fasting tomorrow too?

Fasting and shred/ swim planned as DH working unexpectedly. Wasn't going to fast til Tues but gets it out the way and I ate lots yesterday.

monster54 Sun 28-Jul-13 14:06:39

Yes fasting tomorrow!!! But will do it in the evening. Can't bare to get up any earlier than I already do!!!!

Mil this pm 'wow you've lost a shed load of weight' thanks yes I'll take that thank you!!! She sees me on a regular basis too!!!!

Ooh yay MIL.
L1d5 done, still can't do more than 3 full press ups. Can't remember how long it took for me to do them last time around.

Was really tired today before I started but actually it was ok and I think if I hadn't been tired it would have been quite pleasurable - definitely much less hard than a week ago.

But I remember L2 - and I'm staying on L1 til I'm Natalie standard on all moved. Even if it takes a month. There's no rush, I want to do it properly and not injure myself by rushing at it like I did before

monster54 Mon 29-Jul-13 07:41:40

Don't worry tandd I was doing the girlie ones!!! And still struggled. Sounds like you are pushing yourself and that's what gets the results and the changes in your body!!!

And I'm with you, I only an to shred mon-fri so will take me a lot longer than the 30 days but I also won't move on till I'm comfortable at the level.

Still sore today from Friday!! How do people cope with that? I want to shred tonight but not sure I'll be able to do a squat yet ha ha!!! Just grimace through I pain I expect!!!

BetsyBell Mon 29-Jul-13 08:54:08

L1 D4 Done! I'm rubbish at proper push ups as well - I do the knee ones but it's still hard so I figure it's doing some good anyway! I don't why I find them so impossible - I'm fine at everything else. The day I can do them properly will be the day I know I am truly fit!

I'm only Shredding 3 times this week as I'm going on holiday but I'll join back in when I get back.

I felt less achey once I'd Shredded on Friday - so grimace through and hopefully feel better afterwards! (But don't forget the extra stretches - should be aiming for 10mins of stretching - hold each of her poses for double time and then add some of your own.)

monster54 Mon 29-Jul-13 10:44:11

betsy my upper body strength had always been naff.

Slightly I admit very envious of the holiday. Is killing me everyone getting away. Nature of my job the school break is very busy for me. Ho hum!!! September is my time!!!

I will extend the stretches for sure tonight. FD here and I know it's going to be a tough one with shred thrown in there too!!! Just had a coffee break and need to load up on some more water!!!

I've been pushing for 2-3l a day the last 3 weeks and difference in my skin is unreal....

BetsyBell Mon 29-Jul-13 11:24:12

monster You've just reminded me I need to chug down some water smile

September's the best time to have a holiday! I miss September hols.

monster54 Mon 29-Jul-13 18:26:52

I know I am useless!! Easily forget. But been so good recently. It's hard to keep on top of everything. Super FD!

Had nothing but water, but I'm pooped. Got grilled chicken salad for tea. Just need to get my shred in after bedtime.

Someone scream at me!!! Waivering muchly!!!! Urrggghhhh wish I had the time first thing!!!

BetsyBell Mon 29-Jul-13 18:29:25

monster YOU CAN DO THIS! Think how amazingly good about yourself you will feel when you've done it!

I BELIEVE IN YOU MONSTER!!!

monster54 Mon 29-Jul-13 19:35:33

betsy I could kiss you in a big sweaty teAry emotional mess!!!

Read your words and went for it!!! MUCH better second time, felt comfy with the moves although still little sore from Friday. Had a ton more stretches in at the end.

Feeling good and has actually killed off some of my ravenous end of FD appetite!! Strange!

HairyPotter Mon 29-Jul-13 22:02:12

L2D4 done here! Oblique twist are horrid. sad I'm still struggling with the planks and the last squats with the arm lifts. Ouch! I really should use lighter weights until I find it easier.

Managed C25K after dinner as well. I wouldn't normally do both on a FD but it was raining so hard last night, I think I would have been swept away. grin

BetsyBell Mon 29-Jul-13 22:37:23

Monster YAY! It's a great appetite suppressant.

Tired and hungry at the end of a fast day. Hopefully I'll have some energy for tomorrow morning's session!

Hairy You've done Shred and a run on a fast day?! shock [impressed face]

HellesBelles396IsDeeplyUncool Tue 30-Jul-13 07:18:22

Ear infection. Bah! No shredding.

BetsyBell Tue 30-Jul-13 08:11:04

Arse, 4 hours broken sleep and post-fast day = zero energy for Shred this morning. I might give it a go later when I've had a bit of coffee food and see if that perks me up a bit.

HairyPotter Tue 30-Jul-13 09:08:25

In a mini huff with myself after not losing any weight, again! Might leave shred til after dinner, not sure I have much motivation right now.

Bah angry

monster54 Tue 30-Jul-13 10:02:27

Hey ladies, feeling super energetic this morning and definitely not as sore!! I've only done it a couple of times and might be wishful thinking but feeling a little tighter in places. That annoying flabby bit between you arm and your bra starting....seems to have flattened!!!

NFD for me. Trying to hold off till 12. Although not promising, bad morning at work!!!

Hope you feel better soon helles and betsy sleep deprivation is a killer. I'll be back to shred tonight DH away for a couple of nights so I've got whole evenings to myself.

I do worry about the impact 4:3 and now shred is having. I seem to be all focused on me which is a little selfish! Especially in what's already a hectic schedule with jobs and DC!!

GrimmaTheNome Tue 30-Jul-13 10:23:58

Just popping in to let you know I've just completed the full 30 days (10 days on each level - not doing 'natalie' for every move!). I definitely think its worth sticking to. If I can do it, you all can! smile

Also just realised that yesterday was a FD and I've only had two cups of tea and a lot of water this morning and only just had a rumble to remind me I haven't had breakfast yet!

For the few days left before my hols I'm going to go back to L1/2 but try heavier weights and/or Natalie rather than Anita for some of it.

monster54 Tue 30-Jul-13 10:29:53

Well done grimma that's good going!!!

Did you measure yourself? What was your inch loss like? Did your weight loss pick up?

Have you noticed a lot of difference??

GrimmaTheNome Tue 30-Jul-13 10:42:56

No, I didn't measure myself - wish I had now. Lost over half a stone since I started, been wearing shorts with no thigh rub, and DH asked me if I'd got new trousers on Sunday because they used to be tight on my bum but now looked loose... the ultimate test! grin More to the point I feel fitter and stronger, and am really enjoying that 5:2 means I can eat normally most of the time.

monster54 Tue 30-Jul-13 12:51:55

Wow!!! Inspirational grimma I hope for such good results!!

I have another 12lbs to lose to my ultimate goal....but only 5lbs to my mini goal.

The last 7lbs after that can come off in their own time.

I have some special plans coming up on the 25th August and I would like to be banished of the 5lbs by then but I have been typically only losing 1lb a week on 4:3 alone.

Hoping that doing the shred will help speed things along!!

GrimmaTheNome Tue 30-Jul-13 14:22:35

Whether you lose more weight or not, you'll have more muscle and less fat so you should be slimmer - which is usually more to the point.

Good luck!

monster54 Tue 30-Jul-13 16:01:39

Thanks grimma great way to look at things really....

I know I am going to try my best for that date!

Fingers crossed, I am going to dig out the tape measure tonight if I can find it and record some stats!

monster54 Tue 30-Jul-13 20:43:21

D3 L1 DONE!!!

Picked up some weights but had to put them down at times!!!

GrimmaTheNome Tue 30-Jul-13 22:11:22

>Picked up some weights but had to put them down at times!!!
that's ok. You'll find you can gradually keep going with them for longer. So long as you're pushing yourself to do what you can (without injury) you'll get stronger.

HairyPotter Tue 30-Jul-13 22:43:29

L2D5 done. Hard work and I really couldn't be bothered. But I keep reminding myself its only 20 mins nearer 30 with warm up and cool down

Still, that's another day ticked off.

monster54 Tue 30-Jul-13 22:59:22

Good going hp was there yesterday but felt pretty good tonight. Yes grimma I pushed hard with the weights but thought it was best to carry on without than stop all together!

I feel like I'm going to ache tomorrow. Did my extra stretches so should be ok!!!

Is it my wishful thinking but my legs defo feel tighter and my tum??

wrigglebum Wed 31-Jul-13 07:54:17

Can I join? I've started the shred but not doing it every day, if I start of too keen I'm more likely to give it up than if I do it a more sustainable amount. Did it Sunday evening and then yesterday morning, going to do it tomorrow maybe, but definitely on Thursday (FD). Started with 1kg weights and found that ok for everything but the side lunges with arm raises (ouch), so went up to 2kg for everything but that.

Don't think there's any chance I'll be able to do proper press ups- even when I've done lots of exercise I've never done more than two! I'm also rather rubbish at the ab work- I'd like to blame the csection but that was 15 months ago smile.

I'm really enjoying it, hurts but I feel great after like I could go straight out for a run or something. 20 minute is really achievable, less time than it would take to get to the gym and back and I can work out in old clothes and not care- I do make sure I wear my shock absorber bra and proper trainers though.

BetsyBell Wed 31-Jul-13 09:01:00

L1 D5 done! That'll be it now from me for a bit as I'm off on holiday tomorrow (YAY)

wrigglebum I'm the same - can't do daily as not sustainable, and anything done everyday gets boring!

monster Was it the side lunge and arm lift combo that you had to put the weights down in? That one makes me grimace and there would be swearing too if the DCs weren't joining in/watching!

monster54 Wed 31-Jul-13 10:37:22

Yes wrigglebum the same thing appeals to me. I do it in my underwear and trainers! No extra washing 30 mins done and then in the shower. It is the only thing I feel I can stick to right now.

And I'm actually noticing little differences! I hoping to see a good budge on the scales this week.

I agree I plan on doing mon-fri not everyday, I want to stick with it rather than lose motivation so I will give myself the weekend to rest.

Yes betsy it is this bugger !!! Arrgghhh it's so hard! Plus I'm always trying to concentrate to get my bum out and the lunge right ha ha!!

Hope you have a wonderful holiday and looking forward to you joining back in with us when your back!

monster54 Wed 31-Jul-13 10:39:51

wrigglebum I had a section too?

Have you found your scar/tum any discomfort in losing weight/exercising? Mine was 18 months ago!!

I have lost track of how many times I've done level1 but really went for it today smile and treated the cardio as 2 min all out sprints. I never thought I could shred on no breakfast but its been a revelation - it's actually easier!

I gulp a tablespoon of coconut oil before I shred and it kills any hunger.

Well d

Well done all especially Hp.

GrimmaTheNome Wed 31-Jul-13 18:13:58

>I never thought I could shred on no breakfast but its been a revelation - it's actually easier!

yes - I always have much preferred exercising on an empty stomach.

anyway, I started my second round today. And here's some motivation... I've not worn jeans for over a month because of the heat, just put them on and ... hey! Where's my muffin top? grin

monster54 Wed 31-Jul-13 19:55:36

Awesome NSV grimma loving all this positive energy!!!

FD for me and I've done D4L1 and felt good. Actually enjoying it. Just had my FD dinner, going to have a coffe decaf and put my feet up.

Feeling an underlying soreness all over I suppose that's a sign its working!!!

monster54 Wed 31-Jul-13 19:57:01

I've ordered 2 pairs of 12 trousers with confidence today!!! Just hope they fit as my 14's slip on and off without undoing!!!

wrigglebum Wed 31-Jul-13 21:03:23

Well, decided to do it today too and glad I did but I am so sweaty now! NFD but hadn't eaten since 1pm lunch- never would've dared exercise on an empty stomach before but it was fine. Nice paella waiting for dinner in a mo.

monster- don't think the CS has made too much difference, my abs were rubbish before. I've been really careful to do loads of Pilates style holding my stomach in to strengthen my core and it seems to have helped a lot. I'm actually starting to get feeling back just above my scar now, not sure if it's the increased blood flow from exercising? And congrats on the size 12s!

For some reason I find the first cardio section a killer but I'm able to go all out on the last one, I was out Natalie-ing Natalie grin. Loving it though- it's like Jillian is in your head as just when you think you're going to die it changes.

Since I'm not planning to do it every day would it be a good idea to do L1 more than 10 times or should it be ok to move on after 10 goes? I'm dreading L2, sounds hard!

I'm working on: do level 1 til it's easy, then go up. If that takes 2-3 weeks well hey. I figure less chance of injury, better form, more strength will see me in good stead. It's not a race. It's about getting stronger, walking more gracefully, feeling in tune with my body, getting confident again.

Well done on size 12 victory monster55!

monster54 Wed 31-Jul-13 21:30:57

Thanks guys!!! Lets hope they fit!

I'm of the same school, I'm sticking with level 1 until I feel comfortable. I am doing it 5 times a week so I will do around 2 weeks on each level.

Very tired tonight and getting very sore!!!

Talkinpeace Wed 31-Jul-13 22:37:10
monster54 Thu 01-Aug-13 09:59:04

FD yesterday and had a sneak peek this morning and I'm up 2lbs!!!

Did other shredders notice a gain when they started?? I've gone from no exercise to shredding everyday. Help!!!

wrigglebum Thu 01-Aug-13 10:34:18

I've seen on the other thread people say your muscles hold water when you start working them, so it's not real gain iyswim. No idea if that's true but sounds good grin.

monster54 Thu 01-Aug-13 10:43:21

wriggle I'm taking that statement and running!!! I do hope so!!

Can't help feel a little deflated, but my clothes are feeling a bit looser!

My weight can go up by 3lbs on a day and back down. Hormones are weird.
It is indeed the looseness of your waistbands, the way your tops hang over a flattening stomach, noticing your hipbones when you lie down, even your rings feeling looser that tells the real story.

wrigglebum Thu 01-Aug-13 13:29:33

Yes, I think looking at a weight trend rather than one day or week at a time is the best.

Managed a fast day shred and I'm feeling good, hunger no worse than normal. Weights bits felt a bit harder today at first but cardio felt great. That's my fourth time, I'm starting to feel like I will be ready for level 2 when it comes.

In going to try and hold off until dinner today to eat, making veg curry so looking forward to it.

monster54 Thu 01-Aug-13 20:21:25

Literally just kicked myself on the ass!!!

L1D5 done!!! NFD today and not good on the eating front. Mcflurry and fairy cake sneaked in somehow. But my appetite has amped up since doing shred. FD tomorrow.

How is everyone else doing?

HairyPotter Thu 01-Aug-13 23:37:53

L2D6 done here on my FD. Can't say I'm finding it much easier, I'm almost looking forward to L3 shock

Yes to weight gain doing shred. That's partly why I've started and gave up twice before. Now, I'm being more patient and going more by the way my clothes feel rather than the dial on my scales.

This is the end of my 3rd week of this woe and I've lost 5lbs so far combining it with shred 6 days a week and C25K 3 days a week. It doesn't feel like much of a loss compared to the effort I have put in, but, slow and steady is my new mantra! grin

monster54 Fri 02-Aug-13 19:46:21

That's an awesome loss well done hairy I would be happy with that!!!

I'm having a rest day today. Let my achy muscles rest. I suspect that's why a lot of people quit the shred early on. As it is exhausting, especially if your a lazy bum like me!!!

I will be back on it tomorrow afternoon. And I feel quite positive about than rather than feeling like its a chore!!! On a plus DH noticed a lot of definition in my bottom tonight when I was getting ready to head out!!!

L2day1 done!
I actually love the walking press ups.
I totally hate the v/raise sit in imaginary chair move.
Natalie is a right cheat.
Interesting gossip: Nat got sacked from follow up shred DVDs as discovered to have got naked in saucy films!

monster54 Sat 03-Aug-13 22:46:48

L1 D6 done!!

I'm glad I had a rest day yesterday I felt so strong today and could do sooooo much more, I think that's why some people quit early.

I've done my stats too! See the progress in a couple of weeks.

I wasn't feeling it tonight but came on here and got motivated!!! These boards are great. Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

HairyPotter Sat 03-Aug-13 22:46:51

Oooh I do enjoy gossip Trucks how did you discover that?

L2D8 done, too tired to really do it justice, I was so very close to not bothering at all grin

Starting to get fed up with this level, only 2 more days before L3. Is it much harder?

monster54 Sat 03-Aug-13 22:58:17

Same here hp but glad I bothered!!

She looks the type!!! It's that creepy smile she has, makes her look a bit filthy!! Ha ha!!!

Sleep well tonight me thinks'nn

HairyPotter Sun 04-Aug-13 22:21:40

L2D9 done. One more day to L3! Should I look ahead or just jump in...

wrigglebum Sun 04-Aug-13 22:34:43

L1D5 done, half way there. Starting to feel stronger, even managed the lateral arm raises without screaming grin. Fast day tomorrow, will try to shred in the evening but see how I go, ds2 is still recovering from chicken pox and teething so it could be a long day!

Well done fellow shredders.
NSV ran into woman I last saw at toddler group; she was amazed at my weightloss and changed shape and wanted to know all about 5:2 and shred!

Didn't shred today, did fundraising yoga class on beach which was fab and swam 50 lengths instead.

monster54 Mon 05-Aug-13 07:23:53

Lovely NSV trucks enjoy that!!!!

I didn't shred yesterday as toddler all day, no way she would sit through. But I did a day of vigorous housework which I suspect burned some cals.

FD today, due on this week urgggghh!! Haven't weighed either as didn't want to get too dispondent with shred gain. But seriously need another stone to go now. I don't think I'm going to hit my August target but I do feel very toned so hopefully looking like my target ha ha!!!

NotAsTired Mon 05-Aug-13 19:22:32

Today was the first day of shred since last Wednesday. L3, nearly killed me off. Normally I feel so energised and positive after it but today I just felt worn out and grumpy, even after the shred. I did not go to bed till after 12 last night, just faffing around and woken up by DS at 6 this morning. Ugh. Early to bed tonight for sure.

I liked some of the moves in L2 (like the walking push-ups) but I got a bit bored with it as a level. Hairy. Have you started L3 yet? It's much more fun than L2, very strong moves too. The only one I don't like and can't do at all, is the traditional sit-up.

Well done everyone on keep on shredding/exercising. smile

monster54 Mon 05-Aug-13 19:42:20

I just killed myself on L1 it's only D7....

I thought I was meant to be getting stronger!! Today was sooooo hard. Maybe cos its a fast day? It's been a ridiculously long weekend....where's that dark corner for sobbing????

NotAsTired Mon 05-Aug-13 21:29:42

Aw, monster.

Could it be because not only are you fasting but also because you are due on or on? That's why I did not shred since last Wednesday because I was on and I knew that my body could not take it.

monster54 Mon 05-Aug-13 21:34:11

Combo of it all I think notas NFD tomorrow. Hopefully have a bit more energy for things!!!

Felt like D1!!!'

How are you doing?

NotAsTired Mon 05-Aug-13 21:53:34

Well, not great. Feel very down. But am plodding along with 5:2 and shred regardless.

wrigglebum Mon 05-Aug-13 22:07:38

Managed L1D6 on a fast day. The arm raises are getting easier but the push ups certainly aren't! Also struggled with the push-ups. Oh well, I didn't get to do it until 8.30pm so was pretty knackered.

Need a nice cup of camomile tea now!

Well done to everyone else who's keeping going.

Didn't do it today so that's two days missed. But in my defence we had to be out the house all day whilst the quarterly cockroach spray people insecticided the place. This is a major ball ache and involved emptying all cupboards so quite an early morning work out! Then we went to beach and I swam in the sea for about 1500 metres against a current.

(We live in tropics hence roaches and swim able beaches! And we are on holiday - staying at home with DH off work so no proper fasting this week and drinking in week. Back to normal next m

...Monday.

Small victory; DH and Ds had battered mahi-mahi fish fries at beach and I didn't want them! Just grilled chicken and green salad! Woot!

Good luck shredders and fasters for tomorrow - will be joining you shredding and 16:8 - ing.

monster54 Tue 06-Aug-13 19:51:36

Right today I have totally bailed on shred!! I am exhausted and giving things a rest.

Having a nice NFD dinner and relaxing back to it tomorrow!!!

HairyPotter Tue 06-Aug-13 23:03:11

No shred yesterday, a fab trip to the fringe with some lovely food, wine and chocolate.

Back on a FD day today with L2D10 thrown in!! So chuffed to have got this far, and slightly dreading what she has in store for me tomorrow.

L3, I'm coming to get you grin

I remember 3 is hard but more fun...

Day 2 level 2 and a fast day; just had coconut oil which I don't count calories for - and a 125 calories chicken and cucumber salad at 3.30pm, so did 18 hours just on water.
It's getting easier, as is shredding although the v raises are still horrible.

Well done monster and hAiry; rest days are good especially with nice treats to revive soul as well as body!

Funnyfishface Tue 06-Aug-13 23:52:57

Hi ladies - can I join you?

I did fd yesterday and L1D1 of shred.
Day 2 today and my legs ache.
Fd tomorrow. And maybe again on friday.
I have been doing 5:2 for 4 weeks and keep losing and gaining the same 3 pounds. Which is why I thought I would try 4:3 and shred.

I have approx 11 lbs to lose.

The same 11 lbs that I have half heatedly tried to lose all year.
Really want to do this

monster54 Wed 07-Aug-13 08:54:44

fishface welcome. We could be twins. I have 13lns I want rid of. Doing 4:3 and started shred over a week a go.

I feel better for having a rest day and would recommend to anyone if they are feeling pants to take the foot off. FD today. Feeling ok so far! Will be tea and water till dinner time!

I need to get to this and shed some more weight, been bouncing around same 1/2 lbs for the last 3/4 weeks!!!

NotAsTired Wed 07-Aug-13 18:37:32

So I did L3 today. I am finding it hard but fun. Last session before I go on holiday on Friday. Good luck everyone. Keep at it.

L2day3 ten pounds down since 9 July size 12 trousers now loose boo-yah!

Welcome fishface great news rest day worked monster, I'm a great believer in at least one rest day a week.

Oh really glad 3 is fun for you notastired smile

monster54 Wed 07-Aug-13 20:52:39

trucks yer!!! Love that!! Well done awesome loss!!

I'm ready for a shift in weight now!!! Second FD this week done. Shredded tonight and felt strong. I'm FD again tomorrow as Friday is out to dinner!!!

So that's L1 D8 DONE!!!

wrigglebum Wed 07-Aug-13 22:06:56

Wow, go Trucks! I'm down 8lbs since 4th July, not as impressive but I'm pretty chuffed. Also shrinking out of my trousers smile. My new aim is to lose another 8lbs to take me to 9 1/2 stone then go onto maintenance. That would give me a bmi of about 21.5. Hoping to keep shredding for some toning.

Welcome fishface, rest days are good! I am aiming to shred about 4-5 times a week to start, I want to keep the exercise at a sustainable level.

L1D7 done. Some exercises are feeling easier and like I could go up a weight. The arm raises are still killing me though! Trying to fit plenty in as I'll have a couple of weeks where I struggle to do any- got my sister here then off to my parents.

Funnyfishface Wed 07-Aug-13 22:35:23

Hi

Thanks for the welcome and encouragement.
My problem is snacking. I snack constantly.

Fd today.
Shred also done today. It was hard to get motivated but I did it. L1D3
I have taken before photos and measured myself. Arghhhhh scary

Am hoping to fast again on friday.

Trucks - 10 lbs down in one month is amazing. Well done
Wriggle - well done to you too. I would be delighted at 2lb a week loss

Monster- how much have you lost and over how long

wrigglebum Wed 07-Aug-13 22:51:41

Fish- snacking is dangerous! I used to be a major grazer but I've cut most of it out. From tracking my food intake on MFP I've noticed that with three decent meals a day, with desert (nothing too fancy- yoghurt, fruit, small chocolate bar etc), it's actually really easy to stay around my TDEE. Add in snacks, sugary drinks, wine, finishing off the children's tea etc and it's so, so easy to go over.

Seriously, if you can handle a fast day you can cut out most of your snacks. If you're peckish, half a glass of water and wait 15 minutes, if you're still hungry then have it. If you just fancy something, then have it with your next meal. It's much harder to over indulge on the sweet stuff if you've just had your dinner. To start with maybe try to cut to one small snack a day?

wrigglebum Wed 07-Aug-13 22:52:33

Of course I meant have a glass of water.

HairyPotter Thu 08-Aug-13 07:24:32

Oh my god! Level 3 has actually broken me sad

Gave it a bash yesterday and quite enjoyed it, probably because it wasn't L2! Some bits were tough but the cardio didn't get me as out of breath as earlier levels and I finished it pretty happy with myself.

My legs are actually killing me, my bum hurts and I can barely move. I didn't feel this bad even at the start of L1. Bad Jillian angry I think it might have been the jumpy squat things.

No idea if I'll manage to do it tonight or not. Wish me luck grin

wrigglebum Thu 08-Aug-13 07:35:03

Well done for getting through it. I have to say, the best way for me to stop the muscle ache is to exercise again if I can manage it! Please feel free to repeat this back to me when I come on here crying about level 3 grin.

monster54 Thu 08-Aug-13 08:27:36

Well done for getting through!!!!

Fish face I started 5:2 at the end of February and I've lost 21lbs so far. I would love to lose another 12/13lbs. This is the first time I've started shred.

I have stuck the last few weeks and even gained a little lady week. I think that's the retention from starting exercise. I was completely sedentary before shred.

I'm impressed with people's loses I do hope I see even a pound in the next week or so!!! Will feel a lot of hardwork for nothing otherwise!!!

monster54 Thu 08-Aug-13 08:54:38

*last week

wrigglebum Thu 08-Aug-13 14:12:41

L1D8 done, it's a fast day too. Had a lovely cup of hot bovril after. Now desperately trying not to pick at DS's lunch!

monster54 Thu 08-Aug-13 20:18:22

Rrrrraaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!

Feeling über empowered!!! L1D9 DONE!!!! On a consecutive fast day!!!

That's 4:3 done this week. Will do 16:8 tomorrow and shred at the weekend!!

HairyPotter Thu 08-Aug-13 20:57:27

Another one feeling pleased with herself! Even though it hurt soooo much, I decided to man up and get in with it. So, L3D2 done! Yay! grin

L2d4 done. Fasted til 12pm. Then had big chicken and avocado salad with watermelon, lime juice and tarragon olive oil.

Went out last night and had 3.5 x glasses of wine (we are on holiday) so decided not to fast today and have a 6:1 week and fast normally next week when DH back at work.

Am rahhhhing in support of empowered hairy and monster! Rahhhhh! Keep it up everyone!

Do you feel stronger yet? I can see muscles in my shoulders and chest! V exciting.

monster54 Thu 08-Aug-13 21:45:37

Thanks trucks!!! I felt shockingly strong tonight considering it was a second FD consecutive.

Funny you say that I was stroking my arm today and it didn't feel like my arm?!? Ha ha sounds cranky!!!

But tried on some clothes today and really beginning to like what I see now!!

monster54 Fri 09-Aug-13 08:12:22

New low on the scales today 10st 11.5lb!!!!

My mini goal is 10st 7lbs but I am super excited to get to 10st and a single figure!!!!! Really isn't far now!!!!

Big cheer for monster!
<waves Pom-poms>

HairyPotter Fri 09-Aug-13 14:36:10

Excellent result Monster grin

My arms do feel a bit firmer and my thighs and bum are getting very slightly smaller. I've be on 5.2 and shred (and c25k) for 4 weeks today and have lost 7lb and my work clothes fit! Yay

Will decided later if I'm shredding on running tonight.

Trucks your salad sounds gorgeous as do the 3.5 glasses of wine

L2d5.
The v raises and cardio felt really hard today.
But I persevere as l3 will be worse if I skip bits of L2.
Hope everyone has a good Friday.

Hooray hairy that is a cracking result!

HairyPotter Fri 09-Aug-13 22:48:35

On god! The v raises are my nemisis. I found them really hard going. I'm almost glad to be on L3 just to avoid them.

L3D3 all done. Superman lifts hurt sad

monster54 Sat 10-Aug-13 11:12:14

L1D10 done wooooooo!!!'

First time I've done it in the morning! I fetlt sick!!!! But hopefully shake up to my metabolisim!

Change of routine can be as good as a rest. Watched level 2 and I am scared!!!!

wrigglebum Sat 10-Aug-13 13:52:44

L1D9 done, feeling good! I also had a quick look at L2 and I think I will survive it! Looks hard but then I guess it needs to be to get results. I can see it might get a bit repetitive though, so will just have to plough through smile.

I can definitely start to see a difference- I have collar bones again and I feel better. I'm so glad I started this and have been recommending it to anyone who'll listen! One thing I love is you don't need much space, some exercise DVDs seem to think you have a massive space to move around in.

I'm having a rest today; done over a week without breaks from Shred and think muscles need repair day. Going to do long sea swim instead. TOTM due as well which makes me feel tired and weak.

Good luck fellow shredders.

HairyPotter Sat 10-Aug-13 22:43:35

Ahh don't worry Monster, L2 isn't scary. <lies>

L3D4 done, still a few dodgy bits but I'm sure it'll get easier...

monster54 Sun 11-Aug-13 08:32:59

Totally off topic but I have to thank jillian for what she's done for me in the bedroom!!!! Ha ha!!!

<imagines m

<imagines my DH being surprised if I channelled Jillian on bedroom....>

'You don't get to make out for 20 minutes and take breaks DH! Every second counts! I want you gargling your heart! Stop phoning it in!'

I think poor DH would be scared ...

monster54 Sun 11-Aug-13 16:38:34

Me thinks he would love it!!!!

HairyPotter Sun 11-Aug-13 18:52:33

Mine would keel over if I channelled Jillian grin

L3D5 done before work this morning so I have the whole evening to mooch about and no nothing. Bliss

monster54 Mon 12-Aug-13 09:23:24

Ha ha!!! I was meaning the extra body confidence!!! I feel so much more confident and a lot less jiggly!! 😳

BetsyBell Mon 12-Aug-13 16:15:35

Popping in here to say I'm back! Fasting today for first time in a while but not yet ready to get Jillianed again yet. I was good in the holidays though and even went out running twice, lots of long walks and swimming/body boarding. Lots of eating and drinking too of course...

T&D LOL!!!! grin

Two days off as last weekend of holiday and TOTM. Back on it today l2 d6 and def stronger for rest.
Welcome back Betsy....sounds like fab active holiday!
We enjoyed our staycation and first hol in years we look smaller round tummy after a break!

monster54 Tue 13-Aug-13 14:20:35

Welcome back betsy hope you had a great hols!!!

Had 2 days off as well t&d really need to get back in to the mood tonight. 3 days of total over indulgence and I need to get to work.

I think I'm feeling a little bummed cos it is the first day of level 2 and I know its going to be hard :0(

I need to man up and get stuck in!!!

I like l2 now.
Day 7 done.
Not eaten yet and might do another 16:8 rather than full fast.
Another 2 lb off, more people noticing!

HairyPotter Tue 13-Aug-13 22:23:40

I gave myself a day off yesterday as well, back to it tonight though. L3D6 done. Feeling quite pleased with myself, I've lost 9lbs so far in a month and I'm starting to notice a difference. Clothes are looser and I feel a teeny bit fitter.

monster54 Wed 14-Aug-13 13:30:06

Urrrghhhh....too much washing etc to be done last night so shred went out the window.

I WILL be back on it tonight....even if it is the last thing I want to do right now...

Gosh someone slap me.....I'm in a right mardy mood with the shred!

L2d8
Wasn't in mood at first as was a bit hungry so ate first fir s change. Still not feeling it ....

but it's over so quickly...and it is working faster than any other exercise DVD I've ever used.
Didn't have time for swim after so feel a bit achy - swimming after really stretches me out and I'm v lucky to have a local pool 5 mins walk away.

monster54 Wed 14-Aug-13 21:32:29

Same here t&d I am on my consecutive FD.

Had to eat first. I can't say I enjoyed level 2 wow that was hard!!! So fast moving!

I wish I could say I feel better but I feel a wreck!! Really couldn't do a lot of the moves as its all based round being able to do a full push up which I can't!!!!

I don't know whether to persevere or go back to level 1? Any advice please ladies?

Monster - stay in plank during walking push up.
Watch Anita; she doesn't bend her arms.
Stay strong; gets easier just like level 1 did.
Hairy, great news clothes feel looser and scales going down!

HairyPotter Wed 14-Aug-13 22:44:00

Monster I found L2 the hardest as well. I was Team Anita all the way and still found it tough, but hang in there, it does get slightly easier.

Trucks it's the thought of being over so quickly that makes me get on with it as well. My legs are starting to look a bit more toned so it must be working!

L3D7 done here!

monster54 Wed 14-Aug-13 22:53:58

Ohhhh didn't spot that!!! On the first one I went down and then couldn't get back up!!!! Doh!!!!

Totally escaped my mind that I have never been able to do a full push up!!!

Should maybe try some lol!!! It was seriously tough going. I don't know what damage it's done to my mojo but your right I was the same doing L1 and that got easier!!

Level2 d9 bosh!
Was fine today yay!
But L3 waits in 48 hrs (bit scared also excited)

Down 12 lb and six inches off waist since July 9!

HairyPotter Thu 15-Aug-13 22:53:01

L3 is actually quite enjoyable in a way. Sort of!

L3D8 finished. Can't believe I'm almost finished the whole thing.

monster54 Sat 17-Aug-13 15:50:05

L2D2 done, bit sporadic with my shred at the mo. it felt better second time round.

I did have to pause it halfway to catch my breathe. Had a comment from a friend today on how much weight I'd lost.

When I haven't really since I last saw her I think it's the toning up! Anyway was nice to have the compliment!!!

Well done yay us. So nice when people notice effort made!
L2 day 10 done, had day off yesterday and bought new shorts and t shirts as all my clothes too big.
L3 tomorrow ....

monster54 Sat 17-Aug-13 17:59:08

Yes there's only about 8lb difference in weight but big difference in my waist since starting shred!!

Well done new clothes how exciting. It did dawn on me this morning I have nothing I can wear without a belt now!!

Hopefully have the energy to shred again tomorrow!!!

Next stop
New bra.
I have read bra threads and been in wrong size for years: been in post pg 38B and am 34F!!!

monster54 Sat 17-Aug-13 19:32:13

Same her t&d I always thought the shops talked rubbish!!!

I've always tried on for what feels good. But I have a drawer full of non fitting bras!!!! Just need some child free time!!

monster54 Sat 17-Aug-13 19:32:33

*here

HairyPotter Sat 17-Aug-13 22:04:03

L3D9 done!! One day more <channels Les Mis>

Well it turns out 32DD fit!
I have been flapping about in 38b bras.
I have loose skin but it'll take a few months to catch up with weightloss - meanwhile I can do press ups! I might get heavier weights than 5lb ones! I'm going to nail l3 then do 7 week 6 pack, and DH said I look better than I have for a decade! Yay the Shred - truly amazing and in twenty mins a day!!!

So chuffed.

Go hairy potter!
What are your plans post Shred?

Woo monster, belt it in then go shopping for waisted clothes!

wrigglebum Sun 18-Aug-13 06:25:52

Wow, amazing results for you all. I can't wait to get back to it when I get home.

Level 3 day 1! It's actually ok, more fun than level 2.
Rock star jumps a killer.

Mumblyboo Sun 18-Aug-13 17:28:59

whats the general consensus on 5:2 when pregnant? i am overweight to begin with and always pack on weight when pregnant. I am the same that i weighed the day after i gave birth three years ago through anti depressants for anxiety. The thought of not exercising some kind of control when pregnant this time makes me feel stressed - can i do the fast diet?

It's not recommended if you are pregnant.

Level 3 day 2 FD and bought jeans!

monster54 Wed 21-Aug-13 12:26:17

Wow well done tandd your piccies are amazing!!!

I am completely off par. Had some dramas at home and not slept very well. I last shredded Saturday.

Back on to it tonight. You piccies are so motivational. I am still fasting 4:3.

FD today....

You can do it!
Just a thought - on other thread you mentioned stalling.
Are you eating enough on NFD? Especially protein and fat? Olive oil, nuts, avocados, oily fish?
All help with cell repair, cycle regulation and weight loss/ feeling satiated not bloated?

Ps. Massive sympathies about crap sleep.
sad

Level 3 day 5. I am logging it here as I get list with where I am otherwise.

monster54 Wed 21-Aug-13 20:26:24

Lol same here tandd!!

L2D3 DONE!!!! Wow I find this level soooo hard but I like that its a bit more challenging.

Yes total stall ATM with loss. I've missed a period completely. First time this had happened in 6 months of fasting. Defo eating tdee on weekday and splurge weekend, fast mon, wed and thurs.

Will pick up some nuts. But have a well varied diet.

BetsyBell Thu 22-Aug-13 09:27:06

Monster - sorry to hear you're having crap times sad, I wonder if the missing period is partly due to stress? Well done for getting back on the Shred. I really like running for getting stress and stuff out my system - hopefully Shredding helps too. ((hugs))

I am child-free for a bit this morning, ever so slightly hungover and was thinking seriously about eating all my fast day calories as an egg-based breakfast (knowing full well that there's NO WAY I'd then not eat again until tomorrow morning).

I haven't shredded exactly but I did get up and go for a run, got home did some Jillian weights, crunches and squats and some yoga stretches instead. Been raining all night here so running was very humid and unpleasant so didn't manage as long or as far as usual - only about 3km running and another km walking briskly.

I'm off on holiday again (I know, lucky cow I am) next week so hopefully will pick up on Shred again when the new term starts. You guys will have finished by the time I get back to it I think!

Ooh enjoy holiday!
Level 3 day 6 done, felt a bit nauseous after so swam very slowly and only did 10 lengths not usual 20.
Not sure if I'm going to make it fasting today: might eat lunch (it's 11.22am) but nothing really appeals.

wrigglebum Thu 22-Aug-13 22:42:35

Well, L1D10 done so onto L2 for me now! This was the first time for nearly two weeks, and a FD but I felt ok.

Push ups and the lateral arm raises are still difficult, but apart from that I'm finding L1 ok and managing to be Natalie on a lot of the moves so I'm hoping I'll cope with L2 ok. I'll take it easy and start on low weights, if it's too difficult I'll go back to L1 and swap between them.

DS has finished nursery now so shredding will be evenings mostly now until he starts school. Going to make it harder to fit them in but I'll try and manage at least 3 times a week.

Sorry things aren't going so well monster, fingers crossed it all works out. Enjoy your holiday Betsy

Well done wriggle
Level 2 is quite exciting after level one.
There is also nothing as hideous as lateral arm raises lies about chair squat with V-fly-

monster54 Fri 23-Aug-13 07:56:10

L2D4 done!!!!

I struggle with level 2 ALOT is done in the plank/push up position and my worse strength is upper arms!!!

Still at my lowest this morning but not further loss last couple of weeks, I think it might have something to do with missing period!!

I've read intense exercise can kick hormones out and affect periods!! I know 30mons is hardly intense but I suppose doing that 5 times a week compared with nothing probably is intense!!

wrigglebum Fri 23-Aug-13 08:15:05

Well done monster. Yes, exercise can definitely affect cycles. The shred five times a week is quite intensive if you've not been exercising before- it might be only 20 minutes but I certainly feel that I'm sweating and have an elevated heart rate for a while after I stop.

Another thing, hope I'm not being rude, but how old are you? Any chance you are peri-menopausal? I understand that can affect cycles.

monster54 Fri 23-Aug-13 08:34:50

Yes I think that's what I'm puttin it down too.

Completely skipped now. No offence taken, but I hope not!! Only 30 years young ;o)

wrigglebum Fri 23-Aug-13 09:38:52

Probably too young then (unless your mum had a very early menopause), I hope so anyway since you're younger than me! Probably just starting exercise then.

monster54 Fri 23-Aug-13 11:25:04

Felt very cramps for last 2 weeks like its threatening to arrive!!! But nothing!!!

Oh well see what happens. I've got same target as you wriggle, new wardrobe at 10st!!' Just 11lbs to go!!!

monster54 Fri 23-Aug-13 12:03:05

NSV.....no body has ever called me petite until today!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy dance!!!!

How exciting to be petite!
A v nice victory smile

Level 3 day 7 recorded for posterity.
I phoned it in a bit today. I went half speed on jumping lunges and rock star jumps.

However I did a full set of real not very deep travelling sideways push ups.

I have been stuck at 144lb for two weeks.
Been doing 16:8 but only full FD once a week and drinking a glass of dry white most nights which I guess is the culprit.

Calories about 1250 - 1650 on NFD. That's much less than I used to eat but I guess my body is catching up with itself after dropping a stone pretty fast in 40 days...

wrigglebum Sat 24-Aug-13 21:23:33

L2D1 done! Managed a few Natalie moves but mostly Anita and lower weights until I get used to this level. Some of the moves are tough and I was dripping sweat afterwards. Feel pretty happy I got through it though, hoping I can walk tomorrow!

delilahmoo Sun 25-Aug-13 20:57:22

Hello Shredders! Sorry for crap response/involvement, I have been joining in, I promise!! Day 7 shred done, taking my time as per advice by other shredders. Decided to really 'hone it in' and fucked my ankle!? Having a 2day rest then back on. Anyone done the 6 pack DVD out of interest?

Weekend off and back to it today: level 3 day 8!
I am going to keep going all week on it level as it is quick and effective and I am not sure I have time for the six week six pack one (which is 40 minutes I hear).

wrigglebum Mon 26-Aug-13 22:59:44

L2D2 done, no easier than the first time! Struggling to keep up with the Anita moves. Oh well, I'll keep at it.

Ordered a JM boxset with shred, no more trouble zones, banish fat boost metabolism and six week six pack. Looking forward to trying the others when I've finished shred, will be good to mix it up.

wrigglebum Tue 27-Aug-13 08:43:41

Not aching at all this morning after last night's shred- phew!

Still holding on at 10st1.6 but I can see that I'm getting leaner so I'm not too worried about the scales. Fast day today, don't think I'll get a chance to shred but I'm usually pretty busy anyway with two boys to run after! A friend just had twins so going shopping for presents today.

NotAsTired Tue 27-Aug-13 18:38:53

Someone give me a stern talking to. I have not done the shred since before I went on holiday. I thought I would get straight back into it but I keep putting off starting. Why I have no idea. And it's been so long (21days) that I don't know where to start. I was on L3 D4 I think. Any ideas anyone?

wrigglebum Tue 27-Aug-13 19:35:58

Why not do a couple of goes at L1, another couple at L2 and then finish L3. The longer you put it off the harder it will be to get into again, you just need to make it a habit.

Jillian will give the stern talk when you start (just thinking there needs to be some sort of JM app to kick butt if you give up).

Just do level one. Just do it now.
It's 20 measly minutes and it will be a piece of piss.
Go on, you can waste the same amount of time boiling a kettle, wiping a surface and writing something on MN.
Go on go on go on...

Poodlequeen59 Wed 28-Aug-13 13:25:59

Hi just wondered what shredding is? I'm about to start 5:2 diet. Anyone like to join me for support and encouragement ?

The 30 day shred is an exercise video by Jillian Michaels, all three levels are on youtube. You can get loads of support with 5:2 on man thread in this section.smile

Main thread not man thread! Although there are men on it!

wrigglebum Wed 28-Aug-13 23:42:35

L2D3 done. Was babysitting for a friend tonight so did it round her house. It doesn't get any easier!

monster54 Thu 29-Aug-13 13:39:51

Hey!!!

Bad way over here...shocking TOTM arrived...terrible head cold.

Generally feeling like I'm completely not coping....FT job, small baby, 5:2 and shred, house work.....just non stop.

Haven't even managed a fast this week. The first time in 6 months I have failed to even get 2 fasts in....

I dread even getting anywhere near the scales....

What a mess....sob sob!

So glad everyone is sticking throught better. I looked at the same box set wriggle good value! And keen to mix things up on finishing shred, if I get there!!!!

Oh dear hope you feel better soon monster.
At least it finally arrived!
Day 9 of level 3 done the end is in sight.
It's 6.40pm here, put toddler to bed and I'm bored, considering doing level one to see if its much easier after all this time.

Then again I might not do it and have a cup of tea instead.
Gosh my life is exciting.

<sneaks back on>
I did level 1 and broke a nice sweat, the lateral raises with side lunges remain a pain in the ass. But s ch easier than when I started!

Then I got excited and started six week six pack.
I like the fact that it is so manic and cheesy (Jillian is tiny, ripped and is plastered in slap which runs off with sweat and she also has a stupid flapping long hair do which you can tell she feels daft in). NO time to be bored as you are charging through the exercises. I also like the fact that it is so ab focused as I prefer ab work to cardio. There are a few Shred moves in there like mountain climbers. Side planks are ludicrously hard. I fell over repeatedly.

You do a whole set of exercises at warp speed then start over at an even faster pelt. I did the first round then sat back, stretched and observed s I was getting in a right tangle with some of it and it helped to try it then watch it. Though if you are injury prone maybe watch first and pause/rewind. The beginner versions are done by a Barbie doll, whom Jillian teases. The hard versions are done by a leggy grinning woman who looks like a comic book kick ass heroine which is something to aspire to - she's graceful and ROCK HARD.

Anyway I liked it so that is something I will happily move onto from the Shred, though I will keep doing hired when I'm pushed for time - I think level 3 is a great workout and much more fun than 1 and 2 levels.

Happy shredding everyone!

...keep doing hired? No, keep doing Shred, twatty phone.

wrigglebum Fri 30-Aug-13 22:30:50

L2D4 done, nearly half way now! Really didn't feel like it this evening- been up since 5.30, and yesterday was a 4.30 start. Hence I have only managed one fast day this week, but I haven't pigged out on sweets, fizzy drinks and chocolate like I normally would when knackered.

Did have a gorgeous apple and blackberry crumble this evening after going blackberry picking with friends, it was a lovely morning. DS made up for that by being a little terror in the afternoon though!

glitternanny Sun 01-Sep-13 09:53:23

morning ladies!

im in my first week off 5:2 and thinking about shredding too. I was joining a gym but shared custody makes that tricky. maybe ill try shredding first.

how do u motivate urself to exercise?

no chance if doing it in the mornings im already up at 5:30 and not home til 6:30/8

2nd fd today!

wrigglebum Mon 02-Sep-13 22:07:05

L2D5 done. FD too so it was hard work.

glitter- you just have to bite the bullet and do it. Remember it's only 20 minutes, once you get started Jillian will motivate you enough smile.

Well done wriggle!
glitter - the hardest part is actually putting your trainers on and accepting you are about to Shred. After that Jillian pulls you along.

wrigglebum Thu 05-Sep-13 07:30:12

L2D6 done, phew. Had a sort of mini fast yesterday (around 900 cals maybe), so it was hard work but should be shifting that fat!

Last week before DS starts school so it's hard to fast as we're having a few treats. Just cutting back elsewhere to compensate, I love that I can be so flexible and not feel like I'm 'failing'.

glitternanny Sat 07-Sep-13 16:19:34

Hi everyone - i did it monday, tuesday, wednesday and yesterday - going to put my trainers on shortly. Might do some davina after as my boy is at his dad's

puds11isNAUGHTYnotNAICE Sat 07-Sep-13 16:34:38

On my second round of 30 day shred. Last time I didn't diet, and although I was stronger, didn't really change my shape.

So now I am on L1D2, and on the first day of my fast. Think I am going to try one day on one day off fasting for two weeks to kick start my body, then switch to 4:3.

wrigglebum Sun 08-Sep-13 22:34:32

L2D7 done. Managed quite a few Natalie moves, seems I'm getting stronger and fitter.

I've definitely noticed the flab going from my belly, love handles next to go! More lean around my arms and shoulders too.

wrigglebum Wed 11-Sep-13 11:29:33

L2D8 done, much harder than normal due to a crazy 16mo running around me and sitting on me whilst doing double crunches grin. He thought the whole thing was hilarious.

Can finally do a few of the moves like Natalie. I will move onto L3 after 10 goes, then I'll mix it up a bit with some other DVDs. I'll try and revisit it and do the whole thing another time and see if I can up the weights or copy Natalie the whole time.

JB30 Thu 12-Sep-13 19:44:54

Can I join you guys? Couldn't drag myself to my treadmill this morning so dug out my 30 day shred despite my misgivings (I like Jillian, I just hate the blah blah blah on it)
Found it tough to be honest despite being smuggley sure I was quite fit from running. Not the same fit necessary for the weights or jumping jacks! That'll learn mewink
Without having read all messages - are you all strictly managing every day? It's 30 days before I meet a friend I haven't seen in 1.5 years and I'm well on my way to being a stone lighter but would be great to be the best I could! She's listened and supported me for years with all my diet moans and I'd love her to see at last I succeeded!
Anyone 30 days in and amazed with results? Only ever managed 5/6 days

wrigglebum Thu 12-Sep-13 20:48:26

No, I'm not doing it every day. I wanted it to be sustainable so 3-4 times a week, which I hope to keep up after I've done 30 days. I've got other Jillian DVDs to pick and mix from afterwards.

I'm just over half way through and even without doing it every day it's making a difference. I definitely feel fitter and firmer. I don't do any other exercise other than a lot of walking and running around after my boys, so it must be the 5:2 and shred making a difference.

JB30 Thu 12-Sep-13 20:58:20

Thanks Wriggle that sounds manageable. I aim to run 3 times a week, if I did the shred 3-4 times on tip of that I'm hopeful it'll take care of my toning and strength wants.
Can see major changes in body from 5:2 and running, excited to add something new to the mix

delilahmoo Thu 12-Sep-13 21:04:07

Hello shredders! I'm now day 3 L2. I've been a gradual shredder. Started in the school hols when I only did 2/3 times a week, took 4 weeks to get the 10 lev 1 in. Moved to lev 2 on Friday last week and am on day 4 tomorrow. I do 3 days a week shredding and 2 35 mins swim a week and my job is pretty physical ( waitress), I don't really have any weight to loose, just wanting to get fitter and toned, and of course a few pounds lost is great. I tend to fast once a week and mini fast another day. Since 4th July have lost 8lb. Down from 9.7 to 8.13, I'm 5.3 in height. I could go lower, and if it naturally happens with exercise then I'm happy, not going mental for it though. Feeling physically very strong through shredding, it's such an achievable workout as it's so short. Have introduced a lot of people to it and they are very happy too!

wrigglebum Sat 14-Sep-13 06:00:54

Well done Delilah, sounds like shredding is working well for you. I also feel a lot stronger from shredding. It's such a good workout.

L2D9 done, one more on L2 then I'll be doing K3. Is it wrong to be excited about that?!

L3 is SO much more motivating and fun...enjoy smile

wrigglebum Sun 15-Sep-13 06:04:46

Ooh good. I like circuit 2 of L2 but it does feel a bit like a chore sometimes.

JB30 Sun 15-Sep-13 08:54:34

2x L1's done, every second day is my plan. The pain the day after my first day, oh oh, my calves, my arms, my bum!!! But did it again yesterday and I'm fine'ish today. Calves still a bit twingey but I can go down the stairs without crying lol!
I cannot do a proper press up, I'll have to start attempting a couple each time I do it. I'm trying to imagine me doing full press ups for 30 secs, my imagination doesn't stretch that far! Rest day today

wrigglebum Sun 15-Sep-13 22:55:06

Go JB30. I found I was only sore after the first time. Ever since then I've had no real post workout soreness. I can't do the full press ups either, maybe about 6 now but even on your knees is pretty good exercise.

L2 is now finished grin. Did my 10th this evening. Will start L3 in the week, is it wrong that I'm excited?!

wrigglebum Mon 16-Sep-13 17:23:39

L3D1 done! It is more fun, you were right Trucks. The time really flies. It is hard but not as big as the step from L1 to L3. It feels good to be on the home stretch!

Well done everyone.
It is amazing how much stronger you get so quickly.

wrigglebum Wed 18-Sep-13 19:22:25

L3D2 done. Mostly managed Anita moves (especially abs), but managed a few like Natalie, or started on Natalie then dropped back.

Feeling good and a lot more toned. Thank goodness it's a cheap workout as I need to spend a fortune on clothes! Jeans I bought just a couple of months ago are now baggy.

wrigglebum Thu 19-Sep-13 14:50:25

L3D3 done, I'm getting there!

wrigglebum Sun 22-Sep-13 23:01:07

L3D4.

Definitely feeling a lot stronger and I can see that I'm toning up.

Go wriggle! You are nailing it! smile

wrigglebum Mon 23-Sep-13 09:41:59

Thanks Trucks! I'm actually really enjoying it, have added in some hula hooping too to help work those abs. My aim now is to try and reduce my body fat, so building my muscles will help with that. I'm really pushing it to try and do as many moves like Natalie as possible, then once I've done that I'll try and up the weights. I really can't believe I could ever to a full set of proper push ups though!

wrigglebum Fri 27-Sep-13 10:57:46

L3D5 done yesterday, half way through L3 now. Feeling leaner!

Ooh not long now! What will you do next?

wrigglebum Sat 28-Sep-13 07:39:07

I know! Planning to shred again today, so even closer there. Still some wobbles around the mid section, and inner thighs, but my arms and shoulders are looking nice.

I have the JM boxset, so I think I might mix it around with some Burn Fat Boost Metabolism, No More Trouble Zones and a few shred workouts across the various levels but trying to up the weights. Might try some Six Week Six Pack but that scares me as my abs are shite. Planks no problem but I can barely get through the Anita crunches etc in Shred. Plus a bit of hula hooping on days off- might look at some hula workouts too.

What are you working on Trucks?

I'm doing 6 week 6 pack: it is amazing.
I really like it and the results are staggering.
I sometimes do l3 shred if pushed got time. Or yoga meltdown if its evening ( usually exercise fasting in the morning because I do 16:8 now not full fasts. After dropping DS at preschool.)

Jillian workouts really are effective aren't they?
I think I will try ripped next if I can get hold of a copy.

wrigglebum Sat 28-Sep-13 20:03:53

I quite fancy trying the yoga meltdown too, I think it's on YouTube.

Well, another this morning so L3D6 done. Both boys were there and DS1 (4yo) was joining in and cheering me on- very sweet. The 17mo just giggled at me smile.

wrigglebum Sat 28-Sep-13 20:05:55

And yes, really effective. I recommend them to anyone who'll listen now but I don't think anyone has taken it on board yet. Ripped is supposed to be good.

Hi all, I've been 5 2ing for 10 months now and have been using Jillian DVDs for years amongst others. I love the shred and ripped in 30 and I agree, six week six pack is amazing. I recently bought no more trouble zones and can highly recommend it. It has me sweating buckets and at about 50 minutes is manageable time wise. It really tones you up in that midsection.
You can find it on you tube but it's in separate sections so you have to set them up in seperate windows but it will give you a good idea before you buy. There isn't much cardio but believe me your heart rate will be through the roofsmile

wrigglebum Mon 30-Sep-13 20:26:13

Hey Like, hope you're getting great results too!

L3D7 done, managing to do quite a few more of the advanced moves now.

Took ds2 swimming this morning and wore a bikini, felt pretty confident in it too. My tummy does need a bit more toning and there's still a bit of loose skin (not to mention the stretch marks I got in the last month of my second and final pregnancy), but not too bad at all.

wrigglebum Wed 02-Oct-13 13:43:03

L3D8 done- 2 more and I'm finished!

wrigglebum Fri 04-Oct-13 18:03:32

L3D9 done today so will be finished very soon! Will try and post some after pictures- just a shame I didn't do before pictures.

Oh big well done you're staring at the finish line!
Want to join me in 6week 6 pack thread in exercise?
I'm going to have to restart after doing over half as I sprained 2 ribs rescuing DS from reversing car danger.
Physio should ok me to restart in 7-10 days...

wrigglebum Sat 05-Oct-13 06:44:54

I think I will try that Trucks, I will probably start it early next week. Again, I won't do it every day like the plan but I'll try it as often as I can. I'm using my hula hoop too to help tone up my waist.

Sorry to hear about your ribs but at least DS is safe. It must have been so scary, well done on the rescue SuperMum smile.

Hopefully I can restart gently next week with light weights, back is much better.
It sounds more of an exciting rescue than it really was: basically he lay down and had a tantrum so I scooped him like a surfboard and he wriggled, wrenching my back, the silly clot.

So is tomorrow the final shred?
smile

wrigglebum Sun 06-Oct-13 10:12:55

Done, done, done!!!!!!!!!!!

Dripping sweat now!

See you on the6w6p thread in a few days grin.

wrigglebum Sun 06-Oct-13 10:13:27

Ps- after pic on profile now (don't have any before pics).

Wow! Looking buff! Looking great!
flowers and big applause smile smile you did fab!

wrigglebum Sun 06-Oct-13 14:01:08

Thank you flowers.

Really excited to try something new now.

DownstairsMixUp Mon 07-Oct-13 09:36:39

Hello all can i join?

I've been shredding for a bit now, about to do L1day10 today and onto level 2 tomorrow but the lbs just haven't been shifting, though def seen an improvement in my endurance, my arms feel tighter and more toned to!
I'm 9 stone 7lb at the momet and 5'5 and ideally would like to be 8 stone 4lbs! So i'm starting the fasting diet. What does everyone feel is more effective here? 5:2 or the 4:3? Also any inspiration for dinners?!

Today i am doing grilled chicken with golden vegetable rice and 80grams of chargrilled veg and i've had half a grapefruit for breakfast and my snack will be 5 strawberries!

You are welcome to join but it's pretty quiet. I mainly used it to keep track of where I was. There's plenty more support on the main thread. In terms of dinners, I think there is a recipes thread. I use the Hairy Dieters cookbook too as there's lots of good stuff in there.

I'm 5"6' and 9st7 was my target, would 8st4 not be underweight for you? At first on shred my weight plateaued as there was a bit of muscle building going on, so that might be what has happened for you.

Hi wriggle no i have quite, well, actually, a really teeny frame and going by most wrist measurement things it seems about the ideal weight for me! I wore a size 6 top and 8 bottom when I was last 8 stone 4, though I've said I will see how I feel at 8 stone 7lb as I'm going to take in to account the weights i'm doing to.

Which one is the main thread? smile
