I'm marrying DP next year and I don't want to look like a walrus!! I've got an ocado shop coming tomorrow full of stuff for this diet.

I really am a bit rubbish with this kind of thing and would love a diet pal? pleeeeeease

Hi, I will happily be your diet pal! I was lurking on the main 5:2 one but there are too many people. Am currently 12stone 3lb which is over two stone overweight for my five foot five body. This is my third week, sixth day on Thursday, of 5:2ing.
I am semi sulking as since last Saturday, ten days ago, I've apparently just lost one measly lb but am trying to be positive and follow my own advice and ignore scales (I don't actually own any, I went to Boots.)

Hey babysaurus! Oh gosh, boots scales of shame grin I have some scales but not used them in about 2 years hmm I'm PETRIFIED about getting on them to start this. was thinking about doing it by dress sizes! Not a brilliant way to monitor weekly weight loss though.

I've just downloaded my fitness pal app, hopefully it will help with keeping track of calories.

have just weighed myself and I'm 11 stone 13 so need to lose 2 stone ( better than I thought smile )

We had some cherry bakewells in the cupboard and they are my FAV. I've made DP eat all 3 of them because I didn't want them sat there tomorrow when I start grin

It's funny how I don't feel very hungry after a FD, although the weather might influence that.

Today has gone ok, I started with porridge, then had a bagel for lunch and will have tuna and veggies for dinner.

I've got weight watchers cheese puffs, a low cal hot choc and a sugar free jelly for snacks. Wanted to save snacks for tonight but have already eaten the cheese puffs, Oops shock

I think the major think with me is the amount I snack. So that's going to be the hard part to pack in

Can I join too. I have some post pregnancy weight to lose but can't budge it. About 10lbs.

Failed my first fast last week due to having something too early at 7am - found I was starving by late afternoon. Then gave up!

Second fast was about 200 over the 500 mark.

Today I'm doing better. Just had last bit of food so need to last till bedtime now

I', going to do a fast day tomorrow as well whoja decided on wednesdays and fridays.

I'm going to try and do the same, coffee, water or sparkling water all day, then a snack for lunch, something small for dinner and another snack later on.

Not looking forward to it tbh, I think DP is looking forward to me doing it even less grin

Hi,
I've been doing this since jan and got below 9 stone. My target is 8 and a half.

I was doing so well until we relocated to South Korea a few weeks ago. All my time has gone into the relocation, but I have just been excepted to the London marathon in April so need to get back on track.

I'm doing 4:3. Monday, wed and Fridays.

I do a total fast. 5pm until 7pm the following day. 26 hours pure fast.

I tend to eat the same meals on fast days. So it's easy and I can prepare.

Just finished lunch - mixed salad leaves, one grated carrot, 3 cherry toms, 2 slices cooked chicken and a splash of raspberry vinegar smile - 159 cals according to mfp grin

been drinking black coffee and water with lemon slices all day - could murder a choccy bar tho blush

only 9 hours till bedtime grin

For example I would eat 'normally' on Sunday. Then I would have dinner at about 5pm with the children. This would be a normal dinner.

I would the completely fast, bar diet drink or sugar free zero cal drinks until Monday evening around 7pm where I will sit and eat my 500 cals with my husband who is also doing is diet (or way of life if you prefer wink

That would be my lot, until breakfast on Tuesday where I would resume normal eating, if this make any sense?

Can I join please? I need to lose about 2.5 stone shock. I used to be a slim size 8-10 but 3 children in 6 years soon buggered that up! I was thinking of doing Tuesdays and Thursdays and would definitely like some 'meal' advice. I eat fish but not meat

Dinner was a salmon fillet with cracked black pepper, 12 roasted cherry toms and a huge pile of mixed salad leaves - 254 cals smile

so......I have 87 cals to "spend" - I want chocolate and am craving something sweet - any ideas what 87 cals will buy me? hmm

My go to sweet things at the mo is the hot chocolate, Sugar free jelly or a muller light. I've put some weight watchers biscuits on for next week but thinking I might take them off because I'll be tempted to eat the lot blush

How have you gals found it so far? And what's your TDEE?

I fluffed up the first couple of fasts but my third attempt has been the best so far. I really didn't feel that hungry on the fast day. Weird!!

Weigh in - 137 a week ago to 133 today. But that was this morning after yesterdays fast. Would love to be 128 on the nose - had believed it to be impossible for me.

My fitness pal has been quite a revelation. It's made me reflect on the amount I must have been eating before. I had also started to notice how much more I ate then friends. I think I will use my fitness pal to help me reach the correct weight/realign my eating habits but after my target i wont use it.

A tbsp of Homous is 30 cals according to fitness pal by the way. Tried hartley's sugar free jelly today which was a first. Had to fight my boys for it mind. Was thinking prawns would be a great fast day course.

The hartley's sugar free jelly is 10 cals by way. Although I usually avoid sweeteners so am not completely convinced.

I'll join! Just finished 5th fast in two weeks. I'm doing Tue and Thur. aiming to loose a stone. I have been eating a low cal yoghurt at 11.30, then approx. 300 cals for dinner at 6, tea with skimmed milk and water and a cheeky diet coke during the day. It bothers me that the scales fluctuate so much during the week, I need to stop weighing all the time a just pick a day and stick to it! Hope all that fasted today went well. Already looking forward to toast in the morning!

hope I can sleep tho - starting to get a little peckish - roll on breakfast!

tempted to weigh myself but am going to stay strong and avoid the scales for at least a week grin

I'm fasting today...

For those of you getting disheartened about the lack of weight loss please bare with it. It took at least three weeks and 6 fast for the scales to move (other than up and and down the same few lb's)

Once it started moving it did so pretty quickly.

I am waiting for all our stuff to arrive here, I only have 8 suitcases worth of stuff. I have no scales so can't weigh for at least another few weeks, I doubt very much I could work nor understand a korean set of scales!

Yep I'm fasting today. I'm bypassing breakfast and saving my cals for lunch and dinner. Having low fat mozzarella and tomato salad with a slice of parma ham. For dinner I'm having chicken and veg with a teaspoon of bbq sauce. All the remaining calls will go on coffee grin

I went over today as well ormicadinosaur, by almost 100 cals. I'm dissapointed because I literally JUST did it. Moment of weakness. Oh well. 600 cals isn't too bad is it.

Next fast day will be sunday. Are you doing it then as well?

I'm hoping to get to 8 and a half stone which is my target. However I used to exercise a lot, and I haven't been so I know my progress will be slower.

I did lose about 3kg in a month once the weight started to shift.

I haven't got that much to lose so its going to be slower now anyway.

becky 600 cals in nothing, so don't beat yourself up. Most people on the 5:2 thread gradually reduced the calories intake until they got to 500 cals.

I have to start training next week, even though is so very hot and humid I will force myself down into the gym and cross train and strength train. I will also do 4:3 for the next few weeks.

I just hope the scales don't go up when they finally arrive, oh how I miss my stuff!

Possibly Monday Becky and blue cat. Sunday we are with lunching with friends and i expect there will lots if lovely food about. 600 is only a bit over isn't it. Just reading he book now and it talks about distracting yourself. I had a quiet day at home today but maybe I should fast on busier days?

Interesting to hear about fitness Barbie. I'm jogging about 3 miles at the moment but need to get back to my usual 6. Then some more.

Hi there, I started last week and managed the 2 fast days. I am on my third fast day today and its actually been pretty easy. Always do it on days I am at work as less temptation then and too busy to worry. Have only just thought about food and its gone 4 oclock,

Need to rein back a bit more on the non fast days though

Great news foofoo. I've not been starving today but would love a nibble. Pre 5:2 diet I've definitely been eating for the sake of eating and not because I'm hungry - got to change that

Barbie when did you say your marathon is? I'm in the early stages of training up too but a whole marathon would be too far. About 13 is my limit and it will probably take three months??

Becky let me know what you find out. Ive eaten below on NFD's too but then occasionally eat more. Where do you get the miso soup?

I've had a soft boiled egg with coffee after a short morning jog of 20 mins, two 10cal jellies, broccoli with tiny weeny portion of moussaka (that's what everyone else is eating in my house). Maybe enough left for a small salad later or some almonds? Will need to check how the numbers add up first though. Really mustn't go over this time.

Barbie My TDEE is 1700 or 17500 I think. Should I be aiming for 25% of that total on fast days? 425 or 450 is low.

Also just wondering if there has been any weight loss despite it being early days? I must remember to jump on the scales first thing tomorrow. All my thoughts are on breakfast normally or getting the boys ready.

I did my first fast day today.
Banana. Weight watchers yogurt. Waitrose lasagne 306 calories with green salad.
Under 500 calories.

Starting weight 130 lbs. got about 10-14 lbs to lose.

Actually I found the fast day ok. I drank loads of water. I had tried it a few weeks ago and struggled. Went back to counting calories and got so obsessed and bored with logging everything.

I am the heaviest I have ever been due to medication and lack of exercise. Only 10-14 overweight but I am 5ft 2 and struggling to get into my clothes. I am still on the medication so it might take be a bit longer to lose.

My plan is to do 5:2 and some weeks 4:3.

I am at home most of the day so it's difficult to resist temptation. I am determined now though because the extra weight around my middle is making me unhappy.

Next fast day is wed.

My first day went well. My TDEE is 2300 as I am tall and quite active. I am trying to stick to 500 cal though . Dinner last night was actually quite a lot so might have bigger lunch and smaller dinner.
Can anyone tell me how many cals in cooked broccoli by weight after it is cooked? I have never calorie counted before and am confused if I should weigh it before or after cooking.
Am loving reading how everyone is getting on.

Bluecatfabric Try calorie counting on my fitness app. it really is so so useful. It's helped me alot.

Had second fast day today. Been so busy I didn't eat anything until 4pm. Just had half a glorious soup, and will have other half later. (240 calories in a whole tup of Glorious Tuscan chicken and Orzo soup, and it is SO nice)

I'm having an alpen bar later, some weight watchers cheese puffs and a couple of coffees.

We have visitors arriving tonight so will be picking them up late. Wanted to make sure I had some snacky things, just in case.

formicadinosaur They said that going under TDEE is basically not good, Can dip it here and there though I guess and the miso soup I got from ocado but I tried it today and i HATE it, tastes like salt water :0. Had brilliant reviews though. If you want me to post it to you I will. Just let me know
