Hi, I'm new here Smile

Been struggling with my weight for years, now at 42 am tipping the scales at 13 stone 4lbs ( am only 5 ft 4!!) and have decided enough is enough. I have to lose this weight, I feel crap toting all this around, struggle to keep up with my 3 ds (ages 3, 4 and 6). My eldest has asd and I really want to be around as long as possible for all my boys but especially for him.

Anyway, I've decided to trying fasting. My first fast day was yesterday and tomorrow is another fast day. I'm actually going to try adf but aim at least for 3 days a week in 500 cals and see how I get on.

I'm a bit worried about my second fast tomorrow....fd 1 was generally ok til around 4pm when I developed a splitting headache which wouldn't shift.

Anyhow, sorry for the essay, just wanted to make myself known and say hello :)

Good luck :)

I was a similar height and weight 12 months ago, now I am 2 and a half stone lighter. I had tried every diet going, but this one really worked for me.

Good luck. I lost about 2.5stones using 5:2 and have maintained for more than 6 months so far. Check out the main thread for lots of support and the inspirational thread. This really worked for me.

I've lost a stone since Christmas.

I tried fasting for 3 days - it didn't make any difference. Have you wanted the Horizon programme on YouTube about it? Also well worth a look at the 5:2 website.

Sometimes I fast on two consecutive days and it's not difficult. I look forward to my fast days now. Exercising on them isn't a problem.

I do eat a calorie counted meal on fast days - something M&S count on us range. A boiled egg and a skinny flat white coffee. Then lots I peppermint tea and water.

Remember hunger comes in waves, and it passes.

Good luck with it!

I was about the same height and weight in January. I've lost almost 1.5 stone. I fast 2 days a week and to be honest I'm not that careful on the other days, still have wine and takeaways sometimes. On a fast day I have porridge made with water for breakfast which is 100 cal, veg soup for lunch for another 100 cal and a dinner for 300 cal, usually fish curry or stir fry. I could probably have lost more if I was stricter on the other days but I'm quite happy as I'm finding it quite easy.

I am 43, 5 foot 4 and in Jan 2014 weighted 13 stone. After starting the 5:2 16 months ago I now weigh 9 stone 12 Grin!
After the initial quick 7lb loss it wasn't a fast process- between 0.5 and 1 lbs a week, and there were some gains along the way over summer and Christmas, but I'm now slimmer and healthier ran I've been in years. 5:2 really works for me, although I also logged all my non fast days in MFP, which helped me to get a handle on what a normal day of eating 1800-2000 calories should look like (it's a lot less than I though!)
I'm now maintaining, doing one fast day a week and I can't recommend it highly enough! Good luck Thanks

How are you doing OP? It's now 3 days later so I wondered how you have been getting on.

Hi! It's been going well thanks, 2nd fast day turned out to be a breeze...think having a protein and veggie heavy meal the night before helped, plus loads of liquid throughout the day. Just at the end of my third fast day today and really not too bad either, I seem to do better just having nothing all day then a 500 cal evening meal, if I break fast earlier and have a small snack it seems to stimulate my hunger more!
