Balancing on one leg with eyes closed

Hi everybody,

I havebeen doing 5:2 since October last year and am getting on well with it. I just tried for the first time balancing on one leg with eyes closed (like Michael Mosley did in his programme) and - am shockingly bad at it! I had assumed I would find it easy, but no, few seconds seems to be the most I can manage! I guess I need to try again in a few months to see if it gets any better, but just out of interest: how long can others do it for?

A few months ago, I set just this challenge for all the posters on the Maintenance thread - with very few takers.

I've been IFing for over two years, losing 24lbs, and maintaining since Oct 2012.

I can do up to 60 second on my left foot, and well over 30 secs on my right - when I got bored and gave up.

I think it's a good idea, Daisy, for newcomers to this WOL, to try it out and set down a marker, just as you've done. Then see how much this improves with time.

Oh, BTW, I'm a 76-yr-old bloke! Wink

I do a LOT of Yoga : if I get into tree pose I can then close my eyes and stay there pretty much indefinitely
but yes, its a REALLY good test of balance, core strength and ankle muscles.

Do you need to be barefoot?

TalkinPeace · 22/07/2014 15:52

it is easier barefoot on a hard floor : better feedback to your feet.

I don't think it's the best test in the world I'm 25 weeks pregnant, haven't been following 5:2 for 21 weeks now [sob] and managed at least 45 secs before I got bored.
