I count calories using MyFitnessPal on FDs. Tend to just keep a mental tally on NFDs - I have certainly become much more aware of what/how much I eat on NFDs.

Is 1200 calories your TDEE? Seems very low?

I have tried doing the 5:2 diet and never succeeded. Maybe lost a kg and then gained it back again when I went back to my usual 1,200 calorie regime.

I was wondering Has everyone also been counting calories on the 5:2 diet?

Started doing this last year and have lost nothing, except my sense of humour. Other half has lost over a stone and I dislike him a lot on the fast days.

I've lost 1st 9lb in less than 4 months. I did 5:2 and on NFD I stick to TDEE and try not to eat before 12pm. Still have a few beers, a take away and chocolate every week!

Hi delgirl I started doing 5:2 at the start of Jan, so far I've lost 3 stone 6lbs and I'm feeling fantastic! it's really opened my eyes towards eating and food and how I was approaching food before, silly eating for no reason and not knowing what hunger actually felt like, so I'd highly recommend it. It has lots of other health benefits too which is the other plus.
Good luck if your thinking of doing it :-)

In a year I lost 50lbs, I did 4:3 but I also fasted every day until dinner. I tried to limit my carbs all week however I am vegetarian so it's very difficult to go very low carb but I stopped eating bread and pasta even though I had always eaten the wholegrain version. At first it was tough but it became easier. I feel like a new woman and it feels fantastic.
Good luck!

How long has it taken and what did you do 5:2 6:1 or something else?. Lastly has it been hard and do you now feel great?. Tia
