evening! I desperately need to lose weight but would love a buddy to keep me on the straight & narrow, offer support to each other, tips etc. A bit like weight watchers I Suppose but no need to attend an actual meeting.

anyone interested? I propose starting on Monday for an 8 week period to take us to the festive break. Then have a 3 week break enjoying ourselves before starting again mid Jan....

how does that sound?

A bit about me: mum of 1 (18moDS), breastfeeding morning & night on work days & on demand if required on my non work days, married, work 4 day week as a professional something in London (long hours), hypothyroid, never done a fast/5:2 diet before but heard fabulous things about it from my work colleagues, weighing in at 82kgs which is way too much for my 5'4 height :) Halloween Blush
In the medium/long term I would like to get below 70Kgs but in the short term losing 4 or 5 kgs before Christmas would be fab.

Hi trying. I will be happy to join you. I am also a mum of one, my DS is a year old in a few weeks and I think it's time to start dieting and getting where I want to be. Not sure I can use him as an excuse any more!

I am back to my pre baby weight without really trying too hard but I was overweight to start with and would like to lose a stone and a half thereabouts. I'm hovering around 76/77kg at the moment but at 5'ft 4 -same as you- it's not too healthy. I went back to work recently on a 4 day week and find the biscuits, cakes etc offered at work too tempting. I need to break that habit if I want to succeed.

I've had a bit of a blowout today with strawberry tart, hot chocolate and a bottle of wine and know I need to knuckle down on Monday. Don't know too much about 5:2 but have heard good things about it.

Hi everyone, I strongly recommend you all join the main thread which is now on number 29. It's usually the top one under the fasting topic. There is a huge tips and links section in the op which will really help to motivate you and there a lots of really helpful inspiring people on there, some who have been intermittent fasting for a long time and others who are completely new to it. The advice and support is incredible. I very rarely post but I check in regularly. eatriskier who regularly contributes posted some amazing stats yesterday. In 27 weeks she has lost 5st going from 14st 13 to 9st 13. Her waist was over 40" and is now 28". There's inspiration for ya, enjoy it!Smile

wow hurricane amazing inspiration. i will take a look at that thread.

ohnoppp & apple - WELCOME . lets get to it! 5 kgs/1 stone before Christmas. A sturdy target for some sturdy ladies!!
I still need to decide which days are best to fast this week, pending a decision on which day a major client meeting is held! However I think I would prefer Monday & Wednesday...... oooh, I better go find some inspiration.
Good luck ladies

apple - I hear ya! however it isnt the cake & biscuits at work that is the problem but the evenings at home.... wine to unwind and then chocolate to satisfy a late night craving. the choc ginger biscuit and crunchie I consumed this evening for example, especially after the roast lunch +wine+bloody mary + dessert I had earlier. oops, well tomorrow is a new day and a new week :)

i thought i might take up exercise to distract me in the evenings but now it is getting dark that is definitely a less appealing idea.... cannot imagine putting DS to bed and then going out into the dark for a run. I cannnot even get out in time to attend a yoga class nearby..... must find some more motivation. it is so easy to settle down on the sofa after supper and watch telly whilst eating choc & drinking wine..... lazy bones? me? no?!!!

Can I join? First fast day today. Going to do mondays and Wednesdays. Had food poisoning last night and threw up a lot but still struggling to resist picking at DS's cereal.

Am 5'2 and 11 stone 6 with a 2yo DS and 9 wk old DD. Pre preg weight 10 stone, goal weight 9 stone. 7 lbs by Christmas would be amazing.

Good luck today everyone.

Count me in. I'm 12 stone 7lbs, after my dd was stillborn 2 1/2 years ago I have been comfort eating. However I need to lose weight in order to qualify for IVF, I have to lose around 1 1/2 stone (ideally I want to get down to 9 stone).
I am fasting today and heading to the gym tonight after work.
Good luck ladies, we CAN do this!

Oat bar so far today.
Will have veg and chicken later.

As for rewards - no I was not going to do that as this is supposed to be a WOE for ever BUT as I move down a dress size I might splash out on new clothes, or dig out the old ones Wink. Weight on/off does not motivate me but getting into clothes that do not fit today or being able to buy a size 12 - well that would mean a lot to me!!

Hi all,

I'm trying to fast too - cup a soup so far today - but I know the really tricky time is when i get home from work.

As Hurricane said the main 5:2 thread is really very helpful and one thing I've picked up from there is if you've only got 500 odd calories to play with carbs isn't a great way to spend them - can make you hungrier. The success stories on that thread definitely recommend protein and veg etc as ways to fill you up - eggs, soups, stir fries, fish, soup, chicken etc. Lots of soup.

I mention it as a few of you seem to be kicking off with porridge and might be making things harder for yourselves??

Anyway good luck all - my target will be 10 pounds in the 8 weeks. 10 pounds off would be fab - I've lost 2 stone with at least another 2 to lose so 10 pounds would keep me well on track. And feels achievable.

Thanks for the tip Apples, soups are a great idea. I can't get my head round spending time cooking up eggs or meat etc during the day. Mind you grabbing toast and cake all day long is why I'm in this trouble Hmm. I could definitely do soups though! And maybe ready cooked chicken etc.

Off to check out the other thread!

Well done!
Monday is nearly over for those of us fasting. I had an oat bar at breakfast, black tea n coffee all day and then chicken & veg bolagnase without the pasta for supper. V tasty.
I hope that falls within the allowed 500calories....
DH had the same supper with a breakast of fruit n yoghurt and a chicken salad for lunch.
Not a bad start to the week!
