Hi. New to Mumsnet. Was wondering if anyone had tried the FBI diet and if so what did you think? How easy/effective was (is) it?

Hi tf

Seems like a gimmicky 5:2 diet to me.

I'd get yourself over to the main 5:2 thread - nr 23 - where you'll find lots of free advice and support.

Then go for it - it works!

(Been on these threads - and maintaining since last October!)

HTH!

tbh this looks like what a lot of people who are doing 5:2 here are doing without paying for books or having approved lists. 2 fasting days, 3 really healthy days then 2 blowout days. in that regard, yes it works as many here are testament to. but 5:2 is so simple without these gimmicks that you'd be better off just trying fasting 2 days a week and then seeing what suits you, not what suits a plan

Thanks both. I have joined the 5:2 thread for inspiration.

Fbi plan was actually published before the fast diet, lots of people losing significant amounts of weight on it in the forum I use. Indulgence days are not blowout days either, there is a lot about learning some basic nutrition skills to help you make better food choices as well. Its similar in that it uses intermittent fasting but the balance day principle is brilliant, lots of healthy filling stuff. Hope that helps :)

Hi like Marie said thee FBI plan was published BEFORE the.5:2 plan, and there is a great support group on FB loads of recipes and advice2. I'm doing it and out works and is more lifestyle than diet and more importantly it works! X

FBI plan outdoes the 5:2 diet as its much more adaptable to your lifestyle. Realistically, we all need a day off from dieting - FBI allows & encourages it. I've been doing it for a few months (having looked at the alternatives) and, being a serial failed dieter, it's best plan ever. Because it's so adaptable and has a fantastic support page on Facebook, it really doesn't feel like a diet. Go on, give it a try!!
