Fasting / 5:2 diet

Just starting week 3, it's going ok-ish, should I get the book?

I'm doing 5:2, I've learnt lots of stuff from the website and on here. Apart from somewhat over-compensating on "eating" days (meaning weight loss is slow) it's going well, but I'm not being particularly rigorous about when I eat on my fast days, I'm just restricting to 500 cals and having most of them in the evening. Also I may not be fasting for 36 hours, perhaps more like 33 or something. Does that matter? Should I read the book?

TBH The book doesn't have anywhere near as much information as you will find on here. The tips and links thread is a good place to read up more details. It souds to me like you are doing fine.

The book is interesting reading, but much of it was featured in the Horizon programme - have you watched that?

No, I haven't.

Today was/is a fast day, my hardest yet. I haven't found it difficult tbh until now, but today I was tired and hungry. Still, nearly over now!

How are you doing newbie?

I didn't watch the Horizon doc until I was about a month in, but I was glad I did. Don't think you need the book, I doubt it has anything in it that the fantastic peeps can't tell you on here.

grimble there's a link to the programme on the start of each of the 'main' threads - we're on 22 already!

The book is great.
It rehashes much of what we started saying on here right after the programme came out.
And the Fastdiet website includes several of our real names !

Not that I'm saying these threads are actually the prime resource mind Grin

I really like the book because it clearly details the science behind fasting and I'm always dipping in and out of those pages because the science stuff is what inspires my fasts (even more than the weightloss, cause I was losing weight successfully before I discovered fasting).
