How long have you been fasting and how much weight have you lost?

Have done my first fast day today and struggled...was fine until children's tea time and then became like a woman possessed at not being able to pick at their spag Bol! I was grumpy and snappy the rest of the day!

Desperate to lose last stone of baby weight (done 2 already) and need to focus on the task at hand.

Would love to hear the positive outcomes of fasting so far, please smile

I have been doing 5:2 since the start of April and have lost 31 pounds. It is brilliant! The fast days get easier, particularly when you start to see results.

I've lost 2.5 stone in just over 2 months.

feeding the kids is hard on fast days, I make sure I plan ahead and give them something I wouldn't touch - not hard as I'm quite picky!

I started on 23rd Feb at 75.7 kilos and am now 59 kilos. Feel fantastic.

I started in march and have lost a stone. Not huge amounts but I have stalled for the last month and am now losing again.

Started without counting calories on feed days but now have to re-educate myself to normal eating on feed days to lose weight.

DH and I are doing our own version, we just skip sugar two or three days a week but otherwise eat normally. Weight is slowly but steadily coming off. I work as a gardener and am too active to skip lunch on days wheni'm working, sometimes I do have a late high protein breakfast and skip lunch on days when aim less active. Aiming to be back at my pre- kids weighting about a month, it will take DH a bit longer!

Forgot to say, my Dad is doing the proper 5:2 aged 72 and has lost a lot of weight round his middle.

I started Feb half term, met target on first May bank hol (down from 10st 0.5lbs to 8st 10). Since then I've done 6:1 instead of 5:2 and have gone down further to 8st 4.5lbs. It worked for me!

Have really gone off alcohol (fed up of the hangovers and being grumpy/tired round the children!), so am hoping that that with the fasting will really help things along. Alcohol has definitely been my failure in the losing weight game!

I love the idea of ultimately getting to 6:1 (and more importantly into 8st band...at 5'4" it can't be impossible even if just 8st 13lb!!)

Have you thought of 16/8, I'm going to start this.
Week 3 of 5:2 and lost 2kg so far!

28th January - 22.5 pounds so far.

All going great.

21 jan - 30lbs - 5'4" - wouldn't mind shifting another 11lbs.

chocolatebiscuitcake I'm 5ft 4 too, so it is certainly possible!

Since Jan, 18 lbs. don't see it as a 'diet', it's just how I eat now, and I can take a break for hols etc. basically maintaining now.

I am on week 4 and have lost 4lbs which makes me on target as I was aiming for 1lb a week. I have not been careful on non fast days which I know I will have to do to as well but for now I feel better and clothes seem to fit better.

I've been doing 5:2 since mid January and I've lost 1st 8 3/4lbs. Most definitely a way of life and highly recommended! The only time I really struggled was around week 7, I'd gone out for dinner the night before and my pal just had soup so I had a mushroom , blue cheese and brioche starter - big mistake!! I was nearly crying the next day because I was so hungry! I always make sure I have a thermos cup full of coffee or green tea to drink so that my mind doesn't start playing games of 'I'm hungry'!!
Going to bed early is a great way to distract from those feelings of wanting to eat in the evenings!

I think I've been doing it since March, and have only lost about six pounds. Not great. But then I have been eating quite a lot on non-fast days, and downing the wine.

I also gathered that if you're not particularly overweight to start with, it is a less effective diet than some...

I've been doing it since 29th April, and have lost 15lb. It isn't necessarily the case that it is a less effective diet if you aren't overweight to start with, I had a BMI of 22 to start with. Like others have said, I see it more as a way of life now, rather than a diet. It's also helped iron out my terrible snacking habit!

V inspiring thread so marking place. Am coming to end of second week now but forgot to weigh self. However when ds born I was 107kg and I reckon in the six months since he's gone I went up to 110kg. My aim is actually just to get to 99kg which although still I overweight would take me to what I was aged 21 when looking back I was much healthier and looked much better. Basically a two stone loss would make me very happy.

Gee. I feel a trifle inadequate faced with you lot! Especially Moomin - my BMI was 25, so I was/am a good deal more overweight than you!

I fear I may have to resort to doing some exercise.
