Sterilisation?

Hi all, I had my nexplanon removed today due to horrific side effects (as others have reported, weight gain, low or swingy mood, low sex drive) so happy about that. Was due to have copper coil fitted, but the nurse said that if you suffer with heavy periods (as I do) that the copper coil isn't the best idea. Given that I don't want anything hormonal, I'm now looking at sterilisation. Hearing horror stories about Essure however so looking for any advice from any MNers who've had the other tubal sterilisation? If anyone can help I'd be much grateful Flowers

Hi - I was sterilised last October, previously I had had the implant then the mirena coil, I had the coil removed because of several reasons, depression, no sex drive, weight gain, moods etc etc, operation itself was fine, I (of course) didn't do as I was told afterwards so did get a small local infection, with treatment it cleared up very fast though. I had clips put on my tubes, the worst bit was because they go in via your belly button you can't wear jeans for any length of time, just leggings, anyway within a couple of weeks life is back to normal (pre coil) sex drive is back etc etc, periods came back, first one was horrendous, I bed for about 2 weeks and for a few days it was very, very heavy but since then all is fine BUT....I haven't had a period since the beginning of December and don't know if this is normal or not. But if sterilisation is what you want I would say go for it

Thanks for replies guys - I didn't get a notification so didn't realise anyone had replied! I definitely need to sort that out then, I'll make an appointment for referral to the hospital then.

Anyone else care to share ?
I've just had my pre op this morning and the nurse said 2 weeks off work for recovery ! I was like ummm NO, cant do that. I thought more like a few days ?
I'm due in next week.... Valentines... I know, so Romantic.
Scared as hell though from horror stories.
I do a lot of cycling/swimming and cycle commute daily too.
Please tell me it will be ok , as I'm close to changing my mind and cancelling it, but I cant face the mini pill anymore.
