Long-term contraception after birth

I'm 33yo and am almost 14w pg with our third (and last) child. I'd appreciate some advice about long-term contraception after the baby is born.

I get migraines with aura and have reacted badly to the combined pill in the past, so I don't want to take anything that would affect migraines. I'm also asthmatic (don't know if that makes a difference?) I'd like to have something that limits or prevents PMS symptoms as I do get pretty bad PMS.

Of course, DH could have a vasectomy, but I'm a bit nervous asking him about this for some reason! We are totally committed to each other and have been together for 15 years. Even if he did have a vasectomy, I'd still like something to take the edge off my PMS.

I've thought about female sterilisation, but I don't know if it feels too final? I know it's very unlikely we would try for another baby, but I know female sterilisation is irreversible and don't feel comfortable about that, for a reason I can't quite put my finger on.

Anyway, and advice would be great! TIA

I have had the implant for 2 years now, I've not had any nasty side effects and haven't had a period since it was put in. The implant last for 3 year's and was recommended to me by the midwife after I gave birth.

Female sterilisation won't do anything to alleviate PMS. You might need a hormonal method for that.

You might want to find out if a mirena coil would be suitable, as it has different hormones and lower dose. But it should only be used with caution in people who have migraines, so you need to talk this through with a doctor who knows your medical history.
