Hi, I'm hoping someone can help put my mind at ease and tell me this is normal. I had the copper coil fitted 16 days ago, my implant is still in until 22nd dec when i go back for the 6wk check on my coil (at my docs advice).

Anyway it was painful after theu clampes my cervix but doc said as i had my implant in still would be unlikely i would bleed hardly. Well 16 days on and I'm still bleeding, needing an 2 x sanitary towels a day with random cramping. Is this normal? And how long will this poasibly last?

Implant i havent bled for 6mths, but the hormones are messing my body uo hence going to the copper coil. But I'm so fed up of bleeding so long last time i bled this long was just after the birth of my son lol.

Any advice and reassurance it will get better greatly appreciated as feeling pretty pants at the minute Confused Have even thought about getting it removed on the 22nd if the bleeding hasn't stopped and my emotions are in a right tizz. Thanks for listening to my ramble x

Hey, I've just recently had the merina coil fitted but did have a lengthy discussion with the nurse about both coils. She did tell me that the copper coil can cause bleeding to be prolonged and heavier and have more intense period-like pains (especially in the first few months)

Hope this helps :)

That doesn't sound right to me, can you feel the strings? I've never had more than a couple of days spotting after having mine. It'd be worth having it checked on monday if things aren't any better. Sooner if it gets worse.
