Mirena leave in for 5 years + or remove?

I have had the mirena coil for about 5 years and 7 months. I am 48 so unlikely to get PG anyway. Has anyone just left it in?

The first three months of the coil was awful, but fine now, so do not want another one.

I am not sue if I should just leave it in for a few more years, or forever, or have it taken out and risk pg with a mc.

Because it was put in before age 45 I'm afraid I think you need another one. The next one you could leave in though.

You are unlikely to get pregnant but for the sake of a coil change it hardly seems worth the risk.

As you don't know your natural cycle, then it's best to have another. Though it will have some non-hormonal coil effect, and no it's not dangerous to leave in.

NHS guidelines on abandoning contraception are after 2 years no period if under 50, 1 year if over. Yes, conceptions are rare, but it can and does happen.

I have still had regular 28 day periods all through having the mirena as before. I think I should see the doctor then.

Hate the idea of going through the first three months again, my skin was horrid.
