Thinking about coming off the pill

I have spots around my mouth that just don't seem to be leaving. One comes up before the other goes. Apparently this is hormonal.

I gained weight and am really struggling to lose it. Apparently this is a side effect.

Health implications... I know certain things have an increased risk and others a decreased risk.

DP and I rarely have sex. It's hardly bloody worth it.

What would you do?

I'd change contraceptive method if I thought it no longer agreed with me.

I would arrange another method, even if sex life in a flat bit.

Have you spoken to your DH about your contraceptive needs/preferences as a couple?

Are you after recommendations for methods that might suit your circumstances and preferences?

Change your pill. I tried about 5 before I found a good fit for me (Yasmin). Speak to your doctor there are so many options, most are hormone based so best to find one which fits in the pill form first v

My DPs helpful response is 'do what you want'

I have been on cerazette, nacrez and microgynon in the last three years. Cerazette lead to irregular spotting, nacrez gave me spots that have still not gone away.

I've been told the implant will do the same as cerazette. Doc recommended coil but I know no one with food things to say about it.

I'm thinking chemical free may be a good way to go. I just don't know. Condoms seem so clinical and unfamiliar.

I just don't know...

IME coils are like Marmite - love them or hate them.

Women I know who get on with them absolutely love them; coil inserted and can stay there for up to 10 years (depending on which type you have). A copper coil has no hormones.

Why not give it a go? I don't think you can discount a coil until you've tried one.

I'm on the implant and don't know its there. Zero side effects that I'm aware of. It helps because I think that a lot of the issues I was having came from me not taking the pill particularly regularly (same time every day)

I have a coil. Hormone one, but much lower dose as directly where it needs to be.

I tried the mini pill in perpetration for implant (same hormones) but it made Me Feel low, lack confidence and cry - none of which are my normal characteristics, same happened to others I know. So monitor your mood if you do go for implant but I suggest you try mini pull first.

For the spots ask your gp for zineryt. It's like a roll on antibiotic and it works miracles on hormonal acne. I had it all around my jaw and that and going on to yasmin (pill) has made a huge difference.

I've found an info sheet from my doctor on the coil. Mirena, I think. I'll read that later! I think DP would be happy if we never had sex again. ill look into Yasmin too.

The reason I moved back to a combined pill was I assumed the week off would stop the hormonal build up and stop the spots. I HATE periods
