What the jeff shall I do for contraception?

I have DD who is 4 months old. In no rush to have more babies (!) but may want another one later down the line.

My restrictions lie with the fact that I have migraines and mood swings! This rules out combined pill, implant(?), injection, copper coil. I recently had the mirena fitted and went mental did not do well with it. Prior to TTC I took the POP (cerazette). It was ok, it took a long time for the bleeding to settle down and I realised when I stopped it it inhibited my sex drive. If I don't go for the POP, does that basically mean condoms? Seems like an expensive faff...I'm still BF but know I can't rely on that! Is there anything I'm missing that I could try. Currently the POP is looking like the least of all evils.

Hmm, headscratcher. The implant, injection and Cerazette all contain progesterone so you are likely to have roughly the same side effects from all of them. Sounds like you are pretty much left with condoms, a cap/diaphragm (perhaps even more of a faf) or POP. There are different POPs though, Cerazette is great because you get a 12-hour window to take it, the others I think it's only 3 hours but if you're organised you could give it a try and see if they suit you better?
You said you can't have a copper coil, I don't think the migraines rule this out?
Where is that male pill we keep being promised!?

What's the problem with the copper coil? No hormones - it's been great for me!

And presumably it'll be easy to whip out when/if we decide to go for #2.

You can have the implant - I suffer from migraines (with aura) & had the implant & it was great. I even lost weight!

I'm also looking for contraception offer than condoms & don't want to go back to the implant (completely personal reasons, nothing to do with it per se), but am struggling to find anything else. I don't like the idea of a coil & my migraines rule out most of the other types of hormonal contraception other than the POP.

Oh I read the implant wasn't suitable. I also read the copper coil can make migraines worse --but I haven't had one in ages to be fair

No you can def have the Implant. One type of coil (can't remember which) isn't suitable for migraine sufferers, but the other one is.

If you bled a lot with Cerazette, I think you are likely to have similar issues with POP. Sounds like the copper coil might be your best bet as it doesn't have any hormonal components that are likely to affect your migraines or mood swings.

Condoms need not be an expensive option as you can get them from the Family Planning service- 30 a month is the allowance They generally have different types and brands if you have a particular preference and will also give out lube sachets.

On a serious note, am considering having my Mirena out as I've turned into a spotty, carb craving mardy bitch, might the implant be more suitable?

Am I not entitled to say why I wouldn't use the copper coil personally? And it has everything to do with abortion that is why they can fit one if it is too late for MAP as it stops a fertilised egg implanting.

I have the copper coil and conceived DS 4 days after it was taken out. I don't get on with hormonal contraception and it was a godsend for me.

(currently dealing with the appalling side effects from a course of norethisterone)

30 condoms a month? My local FP service wouldn't supply condoms at all to anyone over 25
