Talked into having Mirena rather than the copper iud I'd gone to have fitted. (I'm 40 and have "completed my family"). Never had problematic periods.
I am due to have my 6 week check in about a week.
I feel so pissed off that I didn't decline. I've had one before, it lasted a month before I begged to have it removed because I felt it was responsible for my wt gain, crap skin and moodiness.
When I told the doctor this she brushed it off, saying that the levels of progesterone were so low it couldn't have been the cause of my problems.
Virtually since day 1 it's been a problem apart from a reasonably pain free insertion.
I feel like i'mhaving the worst pmt ever. My hair is greasy, my appetite for carbs is off the scale and I'm getting headaches. I am truly irritable. I can't afford to feel like this. It's not fair on my family (apart from DH who should've just gone for a fucking vasectomy like I asked - might bloody well do it myself!) see?
So, are they to bang on about the cost of the thing? Try and make me wait to see if things "settle down"?
Do you think I can just insist they replace it with a copper coil?
