Getting the implant inserted

I'm due to have the implant put in later this month. I spoke to a friend yesterday and she said that she was told not to lift anything heavy for a day after getting it put in as it can affect it's position in your arm or something along those lines.
I'm the mother of a baby who'll be around 16lbs when my appointment is due and there is no way I can avoid picking him up!
I can't find anything on the NHS website advising against lifting after having it inserted so I'm not sure if this is actually the case.
Any advice greatly appreciated!
Many thanks.

I went with a friend when she had hers put in and she had a baby of a similar weight. As far as I am aware she was not given any advice about not lifting.

Can you ring you GP or whoever is putting it in and ask their advice?

I had mine fitted on Tues, there's a bit of a bruise but I'm happily able to lift a rather hefty 3 year old. Tues eve would have been a struggle (but had a friend over as an extra pair of hands - I reccommend it on that 1st day, but not neccessary afterwards!)

Thanks for the advice! I think I'll see if DP can work from home that day just to be on the safe side.
