Implanon - definitely tmi!

I've had implanon in since November, had a constant light period from mid December to mid January, now its on and off very light bleeding which is not a problem. But, when I'm in the bath, I seem to expel horrible long, stringy, discharge which is either brown or red, its so gross. Is this normal?

Thanks, I'd have namechanged for this but I'm a lazy cow Grin

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I have Implanon as well (almost 3 years now) and the first four or five months or so my periods were all over the place. Afterwards they stayed away completely (feels weird at first, definitely not complaining now!) and now I'm reaching the end of my 'term' I have started to get irregular periods again, including discharge and spotting. I have spoken about it with my doctor (who called a gynaecologist for me) and they both agreed it was completely normal and I shouldn't worry.

After a while a lot of women find they don't get their periods anymore, although it really depends from person to person, as always. I'd wait it out for a little while longer and see how you get on with it, maybe it isn't the right contraceptive for you. It has been really good for me though, I have no side-effects whatsoever after it 'settled in' - no periods, no PMS, no weight gain, no pimples,... And since I always forgot to take the pill (irregular lifestyle) a lot safer as well.

Good luck!
