Has anyone actually used them?
They seem expensive and I'm a bit surprised about use of computer games in lessons...would like to know if anyone has used them and their opinion. Thanks!

Hi Saffrone

My daughter has piano tuition with the Arts Academy so I can vouch for them. She loves it and I'd say its the best way to learn a musical instrument now. As for the computer games, the teachers bring it along to the lesson as part of something they call 'Fun time.' Its music software that teaches aural and theory skills in a fun way and is used as a reward for good learning etc... My daughter has been learning with the Arts Academy for 1.5 years. Her teacher is brilliant, really engaging and their method certainly gets results. They spend a lot of time playing musical games etc... to keep up the theory side of music which always gets left behind. So many friends at her school take exams and can't even read the graded standard of music they're taking the exam for! Maddie learn't at school for a while and hated it but she loves music now and I think the cost of the tuition is worth it. In my opinion if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys!

PS they also do a free session with a lady called Claire who's the enquiries manager - they come to your home with a teacher for free. Post back and I'll find out the details if you need them.
