Photographs of children, 1 mum refuses

Hi
Just an opinion wanted really

My 11 DD has been given a part singing in a professional musical in the summer holidays alongside 3 other girls from her year group at school.

My daughter is pretty shy and doesn't put her self forward very often - so to audition and get a part is quite an achievement.

I am very proud of her and thought it would be a good idea to get all the 4 girls together for as group photo and send it to the school for their magazine and send it to the local paper.

There will be publicity from the theatre anyway and their names / faces will be in the programme

I have spoken to all of the mums and 2 of them are happy for me to do this, however the 3rd mum doesn't want her dd to be photographed or her picture to appear any where - which is fair enough I support her wishes, however this is now going to cause a small problem, because when I photograph the girls I will have to ask her to stand aside.
When the photos eventually get published the 3 girls will get some attention but this other girl won't.

I feel a bit sorry for the other girl so would just like some advice on how to handle the situation apart from saying "sorry X, your mum doesn't want your photograph taken please stand aside"

take individual shots and a shot of the four of them for them to take home and keep then take the one of the three for the paper

ask the mom to explain to her daughter she doesn't want her pic in the paper so you have no embarrassment on the day

Ask her Mum to tell her that's what you will be doing. There needn't be a big fuss about it, unless you make one. Just a quiet word if she is prewarned will be sufficient.

Congratulations to your daughter and her classmates. I hope they have a fantastic experience in the production.

A note of caution though - be very wary of putting this information in the local paper, or even in the school magazine, without first getting permission from the production management team. Professional productions often want to retain control over any publicity relating to a show, and it might create an unpleasant situation if you release any casting information without clearing it with them first.

DS is involved in a professional theatre production at the moment, and we are not allowed to make any public announcements relating to the production (e.g. via social media, school magazine, press) without the prior approval of the production management.

I would echo the advice about checking with the production company first as they often like to time these things carefully.

I think as long as they don't object you go ahead & just donut with the girls whose mums don't object.

The other mum will probabky find that she has to allow publicity as part of the contract anyway. That's certainly our experience.

I'm confused. The girl is in a theatre production and her mum is refusing to allow her picture to appear in the press?

Take a group phot making sure she's at one end or the other and crop her out.

Just arrange it after school with the other 2 girls. The 4th doesn't need to be there and made to stand aside, does she?

Any unhappiness she has about not being in the photo is between her and her mum. She might not want to be in the paper anyway. I remember my mum phoning the local paper about something I did once, and I was absolutely mortified.
