30 Brownies, waiting list of 24, of which 18 are over 7. No parent volunteers but weekly conscripts! Yoga this week as part of our AIM HI term activities.
Thus I placemark Grin

Finding you again!

Returned a week late this term as I had childcare issues. Have taken on several new rainbows who haven't yet turned up. Not a bad thing as brown owl nearly had a coronary when I to her 14 would be going up to her this year. We're having to keep some a little longer than 7 so there is a space for them. Heck knows what the other unit does so badly that they all want to come to us - previously I thought it was because they clashed with other clubs which run. But I had one girl leave to go there as their meeting was nearer and easier for mum. But she has now rejoined us as she didn't enjoy it there! I'm going to offer the parents the other brownie units if they'd rather not wait.

We're doing frozen theme and roundabout rainbows this term. Having great fun.

I'm struggling to come up with something for the week after next - this week & next week I've got some bits to do to make a start on a display wall (colour in rainbows with sequin eyes and woolly hair and a rainbow fish, plus smaller rainbow fish for the girls to take home).

We're not allowed to 'do' Halloween but are allowed seasonal stuff so I wondered about pumpkin paper plates & spiders with dangly legs the week they break up for half term. Or maybe paper lanterns with the sparkly stuff out of the cupboard. Anyone have any better suggestions?

Also, do you ask the girls what they want to do next half term before they break up so you can plan? I'm hoping our new roundabouts will arrive before they break up so we can have a look together.

I have emailed our leader but no response yet & wanted someone to say my plans are ok! Blush

Lucysmam, yes I have started asking them the last week of term what they want to do. Although I do mean term and not half term. I've worked out how to get all the roundabouts in over the 2 years the girls are with us, so their choices are the extra challenge badges we do. I find they prefer to have a rough idea of what the badge is about and a picture of the badge to look at - they're only little, they go by what they like the look of more than the concept of what they could do.

Thanks Mini, do yours pick their roundabout activities from the roundabout themselves before you plan?

I'm still trying to work out the best way to fit things in Confused. Maybe one of those big-ish academic year planners would help so I have an entire year laid out in front of me at a time then can work out the best way things fit to include seasonal stuff, & maybe a challenge badge or two once I get the basics sorted.

We take out things which definitely can't be achieved at the present time. But we've got cards as well as mats and the former are definitely easier to work with for us. I think someone put things that were previously on mats onto their own version of the cards too as I've some which look like a diy job. I also try and do a lot of things which I don't think the girls would come up with themselves or are also maybe an easier or sometimes
More developed roundabout idea. I've only been doing it 2 years just over though so still learning what works for is and what doesn't.

Oh, cards might be a good idea, I'll have a think about that. Taking out anything unrealistic is also sensible. Can see me making use of my dad's office space for printing/laminating as I go on Grin.

Our LiC cancelled tonight's meeting - her road flooded on the way to pick me and my girls up and it just wasn't safe for her to be driving.

I'm now feeling quite pleased with myself - I have enough planned and ok-ed for the next two weeks plus bonfire night week and, I have a school mum friend coming to help me sort out the shed that is the Rainbows cupboard and cart some of it back to mine tomorrow now I have boxes.

Just need my dad to agree to drive me to the training day on Saturday now as I've not heard from the DC who was going to drive me as she's going anyway Confused

DC came to our Guide meeting this week: I was a bit nervous, because ws having a hard time coming up with something. But a lot of getting to know eachother games which went down well, then a promise game and games they suggested. All very much running around the hall.
I'm definitely going to plan the rest of October this weekend and then send out an email.

Well our divisional commissioner sent out a request for leaders to take a group of senior section to Africa. I replied laughingly "i'm sure you have enough leaders but if not i am willing". The reply was "i still need leaders, fill in thw form"

What have i let myself in for ? Grin

I carted the majority of the cupboard contents home with a friend this afternoon...fascinating stuff in there that's been forgotten.

& a school mum aquaintence (sp?) has given me alllll sorts of bits I'll find a use for...except the loom bands, she's given me billions of the bandy fuckers!

Oo truffle, are you going to the new World Centre?
I am o'seas and ran a trip last year (v easy for me as we did the Wings jamboree, Pax Lodge and Paris lol) but it was still the biggest independent life event for the gals who travelled. The new World Centre would be a trip and a half!! 2017?

Do you reckon I'm likely to ever find a use for loads of till rolls I found in the cupboard of doom? Actually, there's a lot of useable stuff now I've organised it into boxes.

Just the bottom shelf and paper to go through next week at some point when all this goes back.

Lucysmam, what about asking the girls for their ideas about what you could do with the till rolls ? Would be a good way to give the girls input into the activity and make their own decisions. They might also have some good ideas !!!

Failing that I'd sell them on Ebay and turn them into some funds
