Hobbies for DS with glasses

My DS (6) only has swimming lessons at the moment but I'd like him to get into another hobby.

He wears glasses though so I'm mindful that it needs to be something he can do without having to take them off. He has a fairly strong prescription. Obviously he doesn't wear them in the swimming pool and that's fine. But for dry sports he would need to keep them on.

Any suggestions?

Hi, my DS (8) wears glasses, we bought him prescription sports goggles for sport (he also has a strong prescription). He plays football, squash and also does triathlon and wears them for the run/bike section. They are great plus sports goggles are recommended for kids even without prescription to protect their eyes.

I think they would be suitable for most dry sports so your DS shouldn't be limited.

They look strange at first but you will soon notice that loads of kids are wearing them, you can easily find pictures of professional footballers wearing similar.

They aren't cheap but we have had the same pair for a number of years, we don't change these with every prescription change as they are not his main glasses.

ds (13)wears sports goggles too. He was nervous at first, when he was about 8 or 9, but they caused no problems. As he's got older, he has not been able to play certain positions in rugby (a benefit if you ask me!) and we are still on the original pair.

Sports he doesn't wear them for are cricket, tennis, golf, badminton type stuff.

tbh, his glasses have only ever caused a problem on some bouncy castles!!

Beavers
Rock climbing/indoor climbing
Can he ride a bike?
Geocaching
Park Run

I've done all these things with glasses on.

I missed out skiing because I've always struggled with skiing in glasses.

DS does watersports in his glasses and has done for years. He has a neoprene band that floats to attach to them.
