Nervous Mum - audition on Monday

DD loves singing, dancing and drama. She has tap lessons and is doing well. She is in two choirs and the teacher has said she also has perfect pitch, a big range and a nice tone. She also has done well in drama at school and plays the clarinet.
But her real love is musical theatre.
On Monday she has an audition for a well respected local theatre group and if she makes it she will be a member of their troupe for the next 5 years getting 10 shows under her belt.
I'm so nervous for her I know she has the right attitude and I think she has a lot of the skills, but it is all down to this one evening.

Is it only a one shot thing or can she try again another time? Either way it's an exciting chance for her, 'break a leg' :)

Thank Oddboots it is one shot per year. I think for DD it is this year or never.

Make sure she knows that audition results are rarely based on just talent. They presumably audition knowing which shows they will be doing over the next year and so will be looking particularly for kids they can 'fit' to the roles. Why is it this year or never?

Saintly I think if she doesn't get into the troupe this year she will not want to audition again. Lots of really complex reasons.
She knows there is no guarantee.
They say sat they are not looking for specific roles at this stage, but for good singing voice, ability to learn dance routines and confident speaking.

That's a shame - she should audition again if she doesn't get it though!

Good luck to her- my daughter has a passion for music theatre too.

She is involved with a group called Rare Productions and has done two shows a year for the last four years. She started in the chorus but is now getting more major roles. ( currently rehearsing for Les Mis)

They put on fantastic shows in a number of theatres in the east/south East.
Sounds like the sort of thing your DD might be interested in.

My DD absolutely loves them and has made some a really great crowd of friends , all of whom have similar interests.
