I hope this thread takes off but, if for any reason it doesn't, you're very welcome to drop into the Guiders' thread to share the spirit of Baden-Powell.

Ah thank you :-)
It was the guide thread popping up in active conversations that gave me the idea to start this one. I thought there must be other scout people here!!

I'm the secretary for the SG Exec. Does that count? I'm a brownie leader, but have said I'll help my friend out at beavers after the holidays.

Cub Leader here, we've just wrapped up for the summer after lucky with the weather being out of the hut for every Cub night since Easter. Not looking forward to going back inside again come September but we've a camp out and incident hike planned before the clocks change :)

I've just given notice to resign from my current appt - but will remain involved with various hats on. Don't want to say too much as it will out me a bit but I love all things Scouting, and have held lots of appts over the years. Smile

Ah, glad there are quite a few of us! We've just finished up for the summer too. Took the cubs swimming for the last meeting of the term. They had great fun. The leaders got drenched!!
Got to think if ideas for next term now :-)

ABSL here (although I'm a bloke, so I'm not too sure how welcome I am posting on Mumsnet! Useful to lurk and get parents feedback though - I do try to take it on board.)

Oh! Just found you all. I'm a BSL.

chow I think you'd be very welcome!

What are you all up to this term? We are planning a panto visit, a Christmas tree festival and fish and chip supper, learning about a paralympian, climbing walls and learning World War 1 songs.

We have our planning meeting next week to sort out what we are doing (not back to school till next week here). I know we are learning some sign language for the disability awareness badge and doing some safety stuff but not sure yet what else!

I am a new cub leader (3 weeks) the lady that had done it for 30 years has had to step down. It was looking like it may close until another mum from school and I took it on.
So far so good we have our plan for the year set up and some of the older ones left just as we started so we have a nice sized group of 10 to break us in gently.

One of the mums who was on the rota this week said her ds is living he change and they are doing loads of fun stuff which was nice to hear.
