I became I follower of The Shred in June. My reasons are below. Share yours and let's shred together! I lost 5lbs my first week combining the DVD with WW.

I'm a size 16-18, 13st5lbs, 5'8", flabby, wobbly, unfit and desperate to shift the back fat that's making my new correctly sized bra lumpy.

I want my toddler to stop burying her face in my fat belly and blowing raspberries that make my boobs jiggle.

I want my DH to comment my nice arse again.

I want my double chin to melt away.

I want to walk up 5 flights of stairs without lactic acid burning my thighs and being out of breath.

I'm not going to stop until I'm size 12, under 11st and feel like I love my body again. I've hated my body for the last 13 years and I want to look in the mirror and feel good.

Shred is phase one. If I have to do all of Jillian's programmes then so be it.

wem Sat 29-Jun-13 18:56:06

Marking my place to have a muse about this. I've started Shred loads and always see a difference really quickly, but have never stuck with it past a couple of weeks.

Well done on the results you got in June! I may be back in a couple of days smile

QueenBoudicea Sat 29-Jun-13 18:59:44

Count me in - I've been off the shred wagon since February.
It really does work and you see physical changes im your body after about 10 days which really keeps you motivated. I'm going to be combining with 5:2

MrsBertMacklin Sat 29-Jun-13 19:07:44

I'll join you, I need as many Shred buddies as possible to stay motivated until an exercise habit forms (which apparently takes 3 months).

My reasons: I am too ashamed to go to a gym until I get at least a basic level of fitness; I need to work in private at improving this. My disgust at my appearance has been affecting my confidence for too many years and I'm tired of living a life half-lived because of it.

MrsBertMacklin Sat 29-Jun-13 19:09:41

PS combining with 2 other fitness DVDs (Davina with the sound muted and Rosemary Conley) and a 30 minute interval run in the park twice a week).

I'm using My Fitness Pal to calorie count; not on 5:2, I get way too angry if I don't eat regularly!

GoodtoBetter Sat 29-Jun-13 19:23:13

place marking....back latersmile

I'm in

I'm going on hols at the start of August & need to do something about my figure by then.

I've been low carbing but need to exercise for well being as well as weight loss

I started the shred ages ago but didn't make it past day 12. confused

aftermay Sat 29-Jun-13 19:44:55

I'll join you. I have 6 weeks till holiday abroad and all sorts of other reasons.

IthinkIneedmorewine Sat 29-Jun-13 19:47:09

Me please! I'm 5'6" and 9st12lb. I've put on a stone in the last year and I turn 30 this month. I HATE the way I look naked, but logically I know I'm not massively overweight, just really untoned.

I've started C25K twice this year and had knee injuries both times, so I'm hoping this along with swimming might do the trick... Will be trying to cut down on carbs, alcohol and treats too.

IthinkIneedmorewine Sat 29-Jun-13 19:48:42

As a bit more of an incentive, I'm going to Paris on the 18th July and I don't want to feel like a huge lump next to all the chic Parisians...

aftermay Sat 29-Jun-13 19:50:35

I haven't got the DVD. Last time I started I used YouTube. I hope it's still available on there.

PessimisticMissPiggy Sat 29-Jun-13 21:44:08

Great news, it's not just me! wem thanks, I've managed to do level 1 six times now. Hoping for a two pounds a week from now on.

Keep rolling up smile. All abroad the fitness train!

Yes, it's still on you tube. It's a fiver on amazon too.

GoodtoBetter Sat 29-Jun-13 21:50:31

After it's on youtube, that's what I'm using.
Just done day two, still stiff from yesterday.

My reasons:
I'm fed up of feeling flabby. I'm doing 5:2 (a bit half heartedly) and I'd like to add some exercise in as well.
I have TERRIBLE bingo wings and live in a hot country and they're on show a lot.
I have no strength or stamina
I'd like to do some exercise for health reasons, I'm way too sedentary.

Trazzletoes Sun 30-Jun-13 05:22:53

I'm in a very similar position to MissPiggy only about a stone heavier blush and have been combining the shred with MFP and c25k. My eating habits really need to change to make a real difference. I've not lost any substantial weight yet because I have still been eating like a pig but my clothes fit better and my body feels different and at least I am doing some exercise!

icepole Sun 30-Jun-13 06:19:07

I have been chronically ill this year and not been able to exercise. Will be alone with the kids next month so need something fast and that I can do at home. I feel horrible in my body just now, so unfit and have put on half a stone which looks awful as I so short.

GoodtoBetter Sun 30-Jun-13 06:25:02

what's c25k?

Chubfuddler Sun 30-Jun-13 06:29:12

I started it a couple of months ago and didn't keep it up. In the last six weeks I've put on twelve pounds of the 3.5 stone I've lost so I'm feeling v v cross with myself. I'm with you. In fact I'm going to drink my cup of tea, throw my gear on and do it. Right now.

Chubfuddler Sun 30-Jun-13 07:05:28

GoodtoBetter Sun 30-Jun-13 08:13:08

At 6.30am on a Sunday, Chub? Hardcore shock
I'm SORE today.

Chubfuddler Sun 30-Jun-13 08:30:20

Yup. Now had a lovely long soak and off to pick up DCs from ex. Have a great day all, will check in tomorrow.

HootShoot Sun 30-Jun-13 08:35:30

I've never done shred but have just been reading the reviews on Amazon - it looks amazing! I've been doing WW for about three months and have lost two stone. I've got one more to go but am finding my weight loss has really slowed down so maybe this will help. Do you need to buy weights to go with it? Also (stupid question probably) but do you do excercise videos at home in trainers or with bare feet?

Desari Sun 30-Jun-13 09:28:44

Would love to join in. I have a holiday booked for mid-August and want to wear a bikini for the first time ever!

I'm on day 4 at the moment, have been doing 5:2 since January so I don't have much weight to lose but am in desperate need of general toning / tightening!

GoodtoBetter Sun 30-Jun-13 09:53:33

Hoot, I do it in my pants and a vest top with barefeet. Weights wise I started with 2 tin cans.

Trazzletoes Sun 30-Jun-13 09:53:48

Good it stands for Couch to 5k. It's a 9 week programme to get you from doing basically no exercise to running for half an hour at a time. You run 3x per week so I do Jillian the days in-between and have 1 day off.

PessimisticMissPiggy Sun 30-Jun-13 10:28:57

<waves> welcome all!

Well done chub I originally intended to get up and do it in the mornings before work, but my DD is not sleeping very well and I'm too tired. I do it whilst DH is putting her down in the evenings. Then have a lovely shower afterwards - bonus being I can just roll out of bed in the morning!

Trazzle sounds like when you add in a diet you'll lose effectively because you're in the zone already!

HootShoot Sun 30-Jun-13 16:28:22

Thanks Good, I shall get myself over to Amazon now!

GoodtoBetter Sun 30-Jun-13 16:30:53

don't buy it, Hoot watch it on youtube and give it a go first.

HootShoot Sun 30-Jun-13 17:54:34

Too late I hit go before coming back to this thread! At least I'll have fewer excuses if I actuallyown the thing!

kefybaby Sun 30-Jun-13 21:11:30

Moving across from the June thread.
I have a week to go until I go on (extended, as currently on mat leave) holidays in my home country. I have a fair bit of weight left to lose from my second pregnancy (DD2 is 4 months old) and I am generally quite unfit. I have done levels 1 and 2 and should moving on to level 3, but today I woke up with a nasty cold sad.
I had never exercised with a DVD before (I used to do the occasional gym class to justify my membership) and I am amazed by how quick and easy (ok - not always!) it is to slot exercise into one's day.
I also do it with bare feet and I have now also bought some light weights (I was previously using baked beans tins!).
The challenge for me will be keeping it up once I am away as I will have no DVD player or wifi available.

IWillDoItInAMinute Sun 30-Jun-13 21:16:22

I'm in...must do better than last time blush

Ithink mind your knees when Shredding, mine really hurt which is why I stopped after 5 days -and because I'm lazy-

I will be using YT too, not sure if I'm willing to pay to have Jillian shout at me grin

Are we all going to put our stats on here? If so will tomorrow.

Good luck everyone -if you're anything like me- we'll be in pain but feeling v smug tomorrow !!

Good luck everyone, I'm a year on. I've lost 2 stone and gone from a 14 to 8/10. I have a six pack, biceps and I am strong. I wish someone had told me 10 years ago what could be achieved from 20 minutes 4 or 5 times a week.

GoodtoBetter Sun 30-Jun-13 21:23:43

Just done day 30 and god my pelvic floors are bad blush. Are you supposed to shred everyday for 30 days?

Chubfuddler Sun 30-Jun-13 21:27:45

Blimey clueless. Do you still do it every day?

NoRainNoRainbow Sun 30-Jun-13 21:34:09

I'm in, I'm 5'2" and 9 st

NoRainNoRainbow Sun 30-Jun-13 21:36:01

I'm in, I'm 5'2" and 9st 4, want to get down to 8st 10 and be toned.

I have the DVD, I'm going to do it for the first time tomorrow.

I've cut out snacks and fizzy drinks etc
3 healthy meals a day and walking every day too.

earlymidlifecrisis Sun 30-Jun-13 21:37:50

Started yesterday and maaaaaannn do I hurt. Everywhere. Am I supposed to be doing this every day or every other? hopes

Chubfuddler Sun 30-Jun-13 21:39:40

Every day. Some people skip weekends.

FattyMcChubster Sun 30-Jun-13 21:40:54

Right I'm in. Start day one tomorrow. Expect you lot to keep me in check and shout at me if I don't report in!

Goodbye flab!

BabCNesbitt Sun 30-Jun-13 21:42:40

I'm in! No idea how much I weigh, but I'm 5' 5" and around a size 14 atm and just get utterly breathless at the tiniest amount of exercise. I want to be able to run around with DD (20mo) without wheezing! (Probably cutting back on beer would help too hmm ) I actually bought the DVD and some funnels about a month ago but they've just been gathering dust in that time!

Stupid question: is it worth watching the thing through first before doing it, or should I just throw myself into it?

blondieminx Sun 30-Jun-13 21:51:29

Signing in!

I don't want to lose weight but I need to tone up - my middle is all squidgy and all my clothes are tighter than I'd like!

I keep doing 3 days then being too busy and then leaving it a week. Saw pics on fb of a girl I went to school with looking amazing in a bikini on hols, she's got 2 kids.

DC2 highly unlikely now for me, so I need to stop thinking its not worth getting my waistline back if I might fall pg, and just get on with it!

DD calls the Shred "the bouncy DVD" grin

can I join please?

I lost a stone before Christmas through low carbing but the carbs found me and I've put 8lbs back on.

Have dipped in and out of shred but need someone to motivate me to keep it up.

PessimisticMissPiggy Sun 30-Jun-13 22:17:36

bab just throw yourself in!

I'm doing 2 days off during the week, not two together.

blondieminx Sun 30-Jun-13 22:20:06

newpencilcase We can all nag remind each other here!

Just got the tape measure out..., My waist is 30in but the horrid squidgy bit below my belly button measures 35in shock

Sarahlundismyhero Sun 30-Jun-13 22:32:19

I'm in also - been shredding for the last week or so- want to tone up mostly- don't have much weight to lose but want to get fit and toned before I hit 40 soon grin I'm doing it every other day in between other activity- on work out 2 for this week and finding that hard-
What weights to you all use?? Ie think mine are really heavy ! They are 5lb each --- argghhh!!

Sarahlundismyhero Sun 30-Jun-13 22:43:54

Ps does anyone else think jillian michaels looks like Linda Hamilton from Terminatorwink???

Chubfuddler Sun 30-Jun-13 22:47:26

If you watch it you won't do it. Honestly just do it.

IWillDoItInAMinute Mon 01-Jul-13 07:53:22

Great observation SarahLund ! I thought Jillian looks like Danielle from RHONJ (before anyone comments on lack of judgement re TV, it was a long time ago and I was much younger -and thinner- then grin

It's so weird I had to google Shred Jillian to make sure!!

GrimmaTheNome Mon 01-Jul-13 08:09:21

>Ps does anyone else think jillian michaels looks like Linda Hamilton from Terminator

I was thinking she looked like Kirsty Alley but LH more like it.

I did my day 7 yesterday (had Saturday off). Stats? 5'1", 62.7 kg (sorry, DH likes the scale set metric).. shite, that's nearly 10st. I'm 52 and though I could do with shifting some weight the main thing I want out of this is more strength ... my 14 yr old DD is stronger than me and is taking the piss out of me esp if we're doing watersports. I can feel a bit more muscle already smile

I'm using 5lb weights - they're fine for some of the moves but a bit big for others - I can do the moves but might need a couple of short pauses.

Someone was asking about shoes - I started barefoot but then tried with trainers on - find that I can do the lunges better with shoes on and doesn't make any difference to anything else.

GrimmaTheNome Mon 01-Jul-13 08:15:50

At the end of the June thread, someone said 'Those of you who can't do press ups, have you had your press ups checked out by somebody who can see where you're going wrong?

- because quite a lot of us find press-ups impossible. I don't have anyone who could tell me (well, I expect DH would find something to say and DD would laugh, but I'm not sure they could give good advice on form!). So I've a question - does anyone know of a youtube or suchlike which describes in detail how to do press-ups for people - in particular women - who can't?

julie81 Mon 01-Jul-13 08:47:27

Hi have been reading your threads and love them. Have done shred, ripped and back on shred at moment. Still struggle with push ups. Practise on wall to strengthen arms. See above link Grimma if it helps, I am using as a guide to try and master it.

FattyMcChubster Mon 01-Jul-13 09:30:06

I have no weights, what do you all use? Should I get some or are tins just as effective?

Chubfuddler Mon 01-Jul-13 09:32:06

I use two large tins of beans - that's only 0.5 Kg though and I suspect Jillian is using heavier ones. Anything is better than nothing though

FattyMcChubster Mon 01-Jul-13 09:36:35

Does it tell you what weights to use? Just had a quick look on Argos website and there's a set of three different sizes for £10?

kefybaby Mon 01-Jul-13 09:42:56

Fatty, I started off with tins (roughly 1 pound) and have now moved on to 2 pound weights. To be honest, exercises that focus mostly on the arms seem a bit easy and I should probably be using heavier weights. The set sounds like a good idea.

GrimmaTheNome Mon 01-Jul-13 10:08:11

OK, day 8 done.

Thanks for the link Julie thanks - I'll take a look at that.

GrimmaTheNome Mon 01-Jul-13 11:11:02

Um...that's how to do a push-up for people who are physically capable of doing a push up! grin I can do wall push ups ok - not sure how to move down to lower angle though - and just about starting to be able to do one with knees on floor (though not entirely sure if I'm keeping my back straight).

IWillDoItInAMinute Mon 01-Jul-13 11:38:57

Just done day 1 level 1 -again- !!!

Any tips on how to help my poor old knees, gratefully received smile

Grimma I do knee push ups IYSWIM be proud it's bloody painful (I am v weak)

Pleased to have done it.

GrimmaTheNome Mon 01-Jul-13 12:09:53

I've just found some different approaches to push-ups for beginners on youtube :
here and using planks and wall .

Leviticus Mon 01-Jul-13 12:48:33

I'm in! I was planning on starting the shred today and also using Tracy Anderson's post pregnancy DVD.

I want to sort out my wobbly spare tyre and get cardio fit.

IWillDoItInAMinute Mon 01-Jul-13 13:26:54

Re weights, try charity shops. Great place to find cheap weights, clean 'em up, brilliant

hillyhilly Mon 01-Jul-13 13:38:33

I'm doing the shred and 5:2 to get at least half a stone off before my hols in August. I've been shredding for 2 weeks 3-4 time/ week and this is only my second week of 5:2 but I've definitely dropped some lb already.

BabCNesbitt Mon 01-Jul-13 15:05:39

Just done the DVD for the first time and had to go take a shower afterwards! Feeling like someone's grabbed me and wrung me out, but will persist! Found it really hard to figure out the crunches, though - how does anyone manage it without "inviting their neck to the party"? grin

mermaidbutmytailfelloff Mon 01-Jul-13 17:59:57

I just did my first day too, been lurking but thought I would join in if that's ok.

I hurt, how unfit am I?? Do I seriously have to do it every day......

HootShoot Mon 01-Jul-13 18:16:23

I'm hoping my dvd will arrive tomorrow so will join in then if its ok? Stats - I'm 5'2, 10st 9, I was 12st 10.5 but have lost 2 stone through ww. I'm hoping to shift another stone and that shred will help me!

Sarahlundismyhero Mon 01-Jul-13 19:42:12

Is anyone on work out 2 yet? It's knackering but I love it- my 9yo ds does it with me ( partially) and enjoys it! Does anyone notice how she flares her nostrils a lot wink gets on my nerves!

BabCNesbitt Mon 01-Jul-13 20:51:23

I hadn't noticed, but I'm sure I'll be unable to stop staring at it tomorrow! smile

AWimbaWay Mon 01-Jul-13 21:08:20

I'll join too please, I'm on work out 2 Sarahlundismyhero, I've only done it twice but felt level one wasn't quite challenging enough, level 2 was exhausting! I'm giving Monday and Tuesdays a miss as I do a crossfit class on a Tuesday morning which is really hard going, but will be trying to do the shred Wednesday to Sunday. I want to feel confident enough to wear a swimsuit on my holiday in August, fingers crossed!

OneLieIn Mon 01-Jul-13 21:14:14

Signing in, hit 14 st this morning for the 2nd time since pg. Horrid. Going to start now before dh gets back.

Here I go

NoelHeadbands Mon 01-Jul-13 22:04:46

I'm in!

Today is my day 6, and I'm finding it tough. I'm so unfit sad. But I am seeing progress though, which is mind boggling encouraging. Going to study Grimma's links to help in my endeavour to actually do a push up!

I am determined to stick with this until the end. My knees are sad and scared though <wince>

Sarahlundismyhero Mon 01-Jul-13 22:49:12

Oops posted to soon- my tummy is wobbly and not recovered since 3 pgs confused I'm 5.10 and 11.5 stone -
Awimba let me know how u get on with workout 2 and when do you plan to go to workout 3-.? that's scares me shitless!

But I can feel I'm getting stronger and fitter grin

icepole Tue 02-Jul-13 05:42:25

Day 1 done, first exercise in 8 months, was painful!

AWimbaWay Tue 02-Jul-13 08:52:01

It's my tummy that's the problem too, I've been doing cross fit for 6 months now, my legs, arms and overall fitness have improved but my tummy bulge and love handles just will not budge! Very interested to see if the shred has any effect. I don't really need to lose weight, I'm what's known as a skinny fat, quite small but not at all firm.

GrimmaTheNome Tue 02-Jul-13 09:47:49

Day 9 done. I'm trying to do a few extra plank/wall push ups throughout the day too (I work from home so I won't trip up my colleagues!)

Can I join in?! Am waiting for my dvd to arrive from Amazon.

I'm 5 ft 3, 9 st 2 and have a horrible flabby tummy after 2 DCs (and waaaay too much beer, cheese and chocolate over the last 6 months). I want to tone up and get my jeans fitting again. I am determined to do this! Will hopefully fit it in around two kids home for the summer holidays hmm

I think I will get the weights from Argos - thanks for the tip. Big positive vibes for everyone doing this!

IWillDoItInAMinute Tue 02-Jul-13 12:03:54

Day 2 level 1 done

It's not as tiring as when first tried this in May confused could it be I'm not working hard enough or am I'm fitter?? Seems highly unlikely !!

Might move on to level 2 tomorrow -if I'm brave enough-

Anyone tried Jillians yoga melt??

icepole Tue 02-Jul-13 12:51:36

Day 2, very sore legs. Is also my tummy. Is horrible.

GrimmaTheNome Tue 02-Jul-13 12:54:54

hang in there - my legs were very sore for the first 4 days but they're fine now. And firmer!

PessimisticMissPiggy Tue 02-Jul-13 15:02:58

Welcome all!

Someone please shout at me? Last night I did the first circuit then switched it off because I realised I was doing it half arsed. Feeling v tired at the moment but I know lethargy breads more lethargy so I'm getting back on it today.

Weigh in tomorrow and I'm hoping for another 2lbs!

GrimmaTheNome Tue 02-Jul-13 15:55:17

I find if I'm tired, I don't really feel more tired after doing it so <SHOUT>.

We won't kick anyone's butt for them though ...you need to do that for yourself! <grin>

IWillDoItInAMinute Tue 02-Jul-13 16:01:00

grin @ Grimma

I quite like kicking my own butt as I find that exercise easy!

Does anyone else like to time their punches so the last one is aimed at Jillian ? <wanders off to address anger issues>

GrimmaTheNome Tue 02-Jul-13 16:07:29

Only the last one? grin

NoRainNoRainbow Tue 02-Jul-13 19:48:06

Just did the shred for the first time. I ache all over, I'm so unfit. But will persevere!

HootShoot Tue 02-Jul-13 19:53:01

Just did my first shred. TWO sets of press ups at the beginning? That's evil!

I also find it hard to believe blondey is a beginner, what with her wash board tummy and all. Maybe she just has really good genes?!

I survived my first one - yay!

GrimmaTheNome Tue 02-Jul-13 20:04:01

Well done.

Yes... would be sort of nice if they had a 'before' and 'after' demo pair.

Chubfuddler Tue 02-Jul-13 20:09:14

Blondie is not a beginner. She's our thinsperation.

NoelHeadbands Tue 02-Jul-13 21:06:49

Day 7 done, after a 12hr shift and with a mother of all periods. Get me <buffs fingernails>

No changes in the mirror yet though my arms and legs feel a lot stronger. Anyone else googling before and after pics obsessively? grin

NoelHeadbands Tue 02-Jul-13 21:30:53

Hold on I tell a lie!

There is a dint in my flab, I repeat- a DINT IN MY FLAB!

Just the smallest, shallowest dent on the right hand side, same level as my belly button. My god, this could be the beginning of an ab!

mermaidbutmytailfelloff Tue 02-Jul-13 21:34:15

Day two done, after a trip to Argos for some weights - reduced at the moment a set of 3 sizes for £10. And a mat. It still hurt despite the extra equipment!

I struggle with the push ups too, it's the hardest bit for me.

AWimbaWay Tue 02-Jul-13 21:45:53

Did you do it today PessimisticMissPiggy?

AWimbaWay Tue 02-Jul-13 21:48:58

NoelHeadbands, I'm considering doing my own before and after pics to see for myself if there is any improvement, just not sure I'm comfortable with a full length photo of myself in work out gear even if only for my eyes!

NoelHeadbands Tue 02-Jul-13 21:56:01

I took a Before pic Wimba. It's horrific blush

PessimisticMissPiggy Tue 02-Jul-13 22:57:51

noel well done!

I've got over my googling phase now.

wimba yep. Did it before tackling the ironing tonight. I'm doing wall press ups after watching the links that grimma posted!

BabCNesbitt Tue 02-Jul-13 23:39:19

Ugh, I copped out today. blush Excuses: DD woke me up at 6 (before the alarm I'd set to get up and do it first thing), and then took an hour of bloody bouncing and singing to get to sleep tonight! So I did get some exercise... But I will be up and bouncing along with Jillian first thing tomorrow morning, I swear!

Desari Wed 03-Jul-13 00:35:43

Keep going everyone! Just finished day 7 and I think my clothes seem to be fitting better although it could just be wishful thinking confused

I did take before pictures but will definitely not be posting them online any time soon blush

icepole Wed 03-Jul-13 06:52:36

My legs are killing me. Not sure I can stand to do it today and it's only day three! Don't muscles need time to repair or something? I will do some stretches, try and sort them out.

OverAndAbove Wed 03-Jul-13 07:01:24

I'm in! I've just done day 7 of level 1. I did five days last week, then one rest day, and one 3km run. Hoping for same again this week, but preferably without the leaden legs and sharp pain in the arm pits!

I will add vital statistics later as I'm burning hot and need a cool shower before work

GrimmaTheNome Wed 03-Jul-13 10:37:34

Just done my day 10 - one third of the way there. Will try level 2 tomorrow.

GoodtoBetter Wed 03-Jul-13 12:57:19

Right, I don't understand. Am I supposed to do all 3 levels in the 30 days??? shock shock shock . That's not happening. My plan was to do level1 everyday for 30 days. Have I misunderstood? sad

Chubfuddler Wed 03-Jul-13 13:02:37

The aim is to do each level for 10 days but you mustn't rush yourself, stick to level one if two is too much of a push.

GoodtoBetter Wed 03-Jul-13 14:24:22

Oh shit.

GoodtoBetter Wed 03-Jul-13 14:25:56

That means I'd be starting workout 2 on Monday shock

GoodtoBetter Wed 03-Jul-13 14:26:48

Today (I'll do it tonight) will be day 6.

HootShoot Wed 03-Jul-13 14:55:09

I've done day two now. I find the press ups so hard, I wish they weren't right at the beginning!

GrimmaTheNome Wed 03-Jul-13 14:57:36

yeah, at day 10 I can just about do one set of 'knee' press-ups - with the help of the links I gave below. I think the press-ups are a bit of a misjudgement for level 1 TBH - though then again I suppose if you're bloody minded determined then you'll find ways to do them.

IWillDoItInAMinute Wed 03-Jul-13 16:22:06

No day 3 for me today sad

My bloody back is killing me!!! Have been swanning around thinking how brilliant it is not having the sorest knees in the world this time and woke up in pain. So I'm using today as a rest day, want to be back on it tomorrow. Not sure if the backs caused by bad floor work technique? Anyone else had it?

For those with bad knees, the last time I did it my knees were killing me. Not this time though, not sure why...confused

IWillDoItInAMinute Wed 03-Jul-13 16:25:20

Oh and well done to everyone, you're all doing so well!! I'm envy

GrimmaTheNome Wed 03-Jul-13 16:27:07

Trying to do press-ups was (among other things) causing me a bit of a back twinge - the wall ones avoid this, knee ones reduce it. Were you doing full ones? Anyway, whereas muscular pain can be worked through, joint and especially backs def need more care. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

vladthedisorganised Wed 03-Jul-13 17:04:08

Count me in! I started doing the Shred seriously following a late-ish miscarriage, as soon as I had the all-clear from my GP. I was depressed that my now not-pregnant body still looked pregnant and really wanted to blast back into my own self again. I couldn't handle wearing maternity clothes any more.

I can honestly say it's done wonders. After a bit of Shredding I had the confidence to sign up to a circuits class, which I wouldn't have believed a few months back - Jillian is very good on form and it's paid dividends when running about with competitive males grin. My running has improved and the weight has really come off.
(I'm 5'2", was 137lb and now 125lb, aiming for 121 if I can which is pre-DD weight)

Now aiming to get to Level 3 and get up to 8k running. The only down side is that I'm now ravenously hungry all the time.

I started Level 1 barefoot but found the double-jump-rope too hard on my feet without trainers, so for me the trainers definitely help. I use 2.5lb weights which are on the light side, but about all I can manage for the shoulder presses. Can't do the plank-jacks without whimpering though - does anyone else find these horrendously difficult or is it just me?

GoodtoBetter Wed 03-Jul-13 18:25:51

What are plank jacks?

IWillDoItInAMinute Wed 03-Jul-13 20:08:20

Grimma I'm too weak to do a full press up so I do the 'knees' ones grin

I think the back pain may have something to do with sanding wood work yesterday.

Hope all is better tomorrow as I sort of missed Jillian today shock

hillyhilly Wed 03-Jul-13 20:25:28

Plank jacks are ok though I'm always glad to finish them but for me it's the high knees and squat thrust combo that has me whimpering. I think part of the problem may be that I'm barefoot and sliding the squat thrusts on the carpet.
Yesterday I just did it in my bra and pants as no one else was up yet but the sight of my tummy during the plank jacks is still haunting me!!

NoelHeadbands Wed 03-Jul-13 21:07:42

I'm a couple of days away from Level 2, and I haven't even looked at it. I'm too scared.

GoodtoBetter Wed 03-Jul-13 22:27:04

I looked today Noel and was scared. Seemed to go on FOREVER too grin . Due to start it on Monday shock

PessimisticMissPiggy Wed 03-Jul-13 23:31:22

Wow all, keep it up! I'm trying to convince DH to do it with me but he's having none of it!

Weighed in today and have maintained sad but my well trained DH said "ah but it was your period so I bet you lose next week!"

Rest day tomorrow then on last level 1 session before starting level 2 on Saturday.

GoodtoBetter Thu 04-Jul-13 06:19:37

I'm doing it every day...should I be having rest days?

NoelHeadbands Thu 04-Jul-13 07:54:26

Me too Good. I'm not sure tbh, lots of people do rest days.

One of the first things I read about it was that you should do it every day, so that's what I'm sticking to but I don't actually know if that's the case

GrimmaTheNome Thu 04-Jul-13 09:32:33

Day 11 - first day of level 2. Not too bad (but I said that on day 1 of level 1 before my muscles turned to lead!). Except for the military presses where 5lb is a bit too much for me and I got a bit confused on some of the moves so didn't really quite do it all.

Definitely need to wear trainers for this I think - my toes wouldn't stand up to the plank positions otherwise.

vladthedisorganised Thu 04-Jul-13 10:29:05

Goodtobetter plank jacks are a unique form of torture which means your legs do the jumping jack move while your arms hold the rest of you in plank position.
There is a 'stepping' option which I can manage, but end up collapsing if I try to do the 'jumping' option. Squat thrusts are a killer too.. I don't think I'm very good at plank things!

GoodtoBetter Thu 04-Jul-13 13:05:59

I have seen the horror of plank jacks cos I looked at level 2. OMFG even Jillian is out of breath and sweating !!!! shock shock shock shock shock

GrimmaTheNome Thu 04-Jul-13 13:56:16

I didn't find the plank jacks too bad, oddly (maybe I was doing them wrong) - I tried the stepping option a la Anita and fell over.

icepole Thu 04-Jul-13 18:49:43

Managed day three after all, legs warmed up as the day went on and I have just done day 4. Legs still hurt mind you!

GoodtoBetter Thu 04-Jul-13 20:04:41

Day 7 done. It's hard work doing it in 36ºC with no aircon though. I'm covered in sweat 20 secs into the warm-up smile
Finding the jjs and butt kicks easier but skip rope KILLS my calves still.

GrimmaTheNome Thu 04-Jul-13 20:45:06

It gets better after day 4, honest!

Yes, the jump rope is like the prodigal son's father. It kills my fatted calves.

mermaidbutmytailfelloff Thu 04-Jul-13 21:16:08

Hope you are right Grimma, just done day 4 and still finding it hard! I agree with the jump rope too, my calves are screaming at me.

26 days to go....but then what?

Coconutty Thu 04-Jul-13 21:25:28

I'm on day 10, have been doing level 2 for last 3 days. I usually stick to level 1 for longer but am going on my hols soon so am trying really hard to lose weight quickly.

Have been told by 3 different people that I look like I've lost weight so am very pleased so far.

Day 4/5 we're the worst for me so far.

Trazzletoes Thu 04-Jul-13 22:47:59

I've been unwell this week so back on Level 1 and embarrassed that, understandably, I am not as capable as last time I did it though I'm impressed I can do the abs moves, just not all the (fake) press ups sad.

Thinking of moving up to level 2 though [scared]

MrsBertMacklin Fri 05-Jul-13 00:24:50

I'm due to do Day 3 tomorrow.

I read something interesting on the Amazon reviews today. One of the reviews said that they found level 1 boring and someone suggested that she switched between levels, rather than doing level 1 steadily before progressing to L2, etc.

Feedback was that this works, you just do modified versions of the other levels until you are ready to increase the impact levels. Reviewers also said that this helps because you can work out more continuously, because you're not exercising the exact same muscles every day.

Anyone tried this? I'm on L1 but thinking of giving L2 a go tomorrow to see what happens.

GrimmaTheNome Fri 05-Jul-13 09:20:19

Just done day 12. More or less - had to do the second set of 'military press and leg raise' without the weights.

Mrs B, that sounds like quite a good idea to me. Although having gone onto level 2 I don't particularly want to do level 1 again for a while!

icepole Fri 05-Jul-13 10:37:37

Really like that idea Mrs B! Will try this. Going to switch between 1 and 2.

alarkaspree Fri 05-Jul-13 16:15:19

I did my first day of level 3 today.

I have still only lost about a pound.

GrimmaTheNome Fri 05-Jul-13 19:59:08

well done - I bet you've lost loads of fat and gained muscle though which is what really matters. What's level 3 like? <respect>

NoelHeadbands Fri 05-Jul-13 22:01:00

Day 10 of level 1 completed, and I'm a bit pissed off; I seemed to struggle with it tonight, and I still look like a fat lump <wah>

PessimisticMissPiggy Fri 05-Jul-13 22:05:16

Me too Noel I thought day 10 would be easy! I start level two tomorrow.

NoelHeadbands Fri 05-Jul-13 22:12:11

Me anorl MissPiggy. We can compare notes, IF I manage to do it, I feel weak as a kitten at the mo.

alarkaspree Fri 05-Jul-13 23:51:15

Grimma thanks, I hope that is the case!

I don't think level 3 is significantly harder than level 2. It may sound worse but by the time you get there it's manageable. You have to do jumping jacks holding your weights...

NoelHeadbands Sat 06-Jul-13 09:17:09

Jj's with weights shock eek

Level 2 Day 1 completed here, and after yesterday's struggle I feel... triumphant...

I was expecting L2 to be Horrendous, and it was just Very Bad grin

MrsBertMacklin Sat 06-Jul-13 10:36:28

Morning! I got up early especially to complete L1 Day 3, as I wanted to get it done before the humidity levels get too crazy. All done.

The punching squats and bicycle crunches are still killing me and I am still struggling to do reverse crunches; with the latter, I'm finding it tricky to tell if I'm doing this properly.

Everything else was a lot easier today though; only stopped once and drunk 200ml of water, not a whole litre like Day 1 smile

Oh and I've done a cheeky midweek weigh-in (my weigh day is Weds) - 2 frigging pounds lost since Wednesday!

PessimisticMissPiggy Sat 06-Jul-13 12:17:27

noel yey! I'm not dreading it as much now.
MrsBert wow! Well done!

PessimisticMissPiggy Sat 06-Jul-13 20:57:35

Level 2 planks are no fun sad

NoelHeadbands Sun 07-Jul-13 10:01:12

Aching like mad again after L2D1, thighs, arse and shoulders. Going to save Day 2 until tonight I think <hobbles off>

MrsBertMacklin Sun 07-Jul-13 13:17:30

L1D4 just done. I have one of those convertible bras and the left strap decided to ping off at the end of Circuit 2. Luckily only one jumping movement left at that point, so I did jump rope while holding my boobs grin

mermaidbutmytailfelloff Sun 07-Jul-13 17:01:40

I missed yesterday (no excuse except it was hot and I was exhausted) so did level 2 today as a penance.

It was easier on my sore calves actually so will go back to level 1 but replace the butt kicks with something from level 2 iyswim, the rest of it was really tough.....

MrsB I guess you just have to be glad you were at home rather then in a class when you had your pinging incident!
Noel the aches DO improve honest! Don't think it gets any easier though [despairing face emoticon]

PessimisticMissPiggy Sun 07-Jul-13 20:28:31

I'm melting but about to do L2 D2.

MrsBertMacklin Sun 07-Jul-13 22:19:15

Where's everyone else? Come on people, get it done while it's nice & cool and check-in!

NoelHeadbands Sun 07-Jul-13 22:23:03

Day 12 done! Tortuous in this heat, hoping I sweated off a few extra ounces heh.

Still no visual differences, but I feel a lot better and stronger. And knackered

PessimisticMissPiggy Sun 07-Jul-13 22:28:48

I did it tonight stripped to my sports bra and knickers. I'm feeling down after looking at my tummy whilst doing the plank moves.

I'm struggling to see any difference in my torso or legs but arms are getting toned.

NoelHeadbands Sun 07-Jul-13 22:34:16

Yes! I know what you mean, I did the same thing! My stomach just hangs there like a lump of cottage cheese sad

It doesn't look that bad when I'm upright I don't think...I haven't been that distressed since the time I put a mirror on my lap and looked down at my face.

PessimisticMissPiggy Sun 07-Jul-13 23:25:16

Cottage cheese is a great description!

GrimmaTheNome Mon 08-Jul-13 09:50:26

I had Saturday off - no time - I had to get DD to her kids' sailing club in the morning, then she windsurfs in the afternoon and I did some sailing . I think my wetsuit went on over my legs a bit easier and I carried her board down singlehanded without having to rest. Then we had a quick turnaround to go to the walkabout theatre in Lancaster park. So not a couch potato rest day!

Day 13 on sunday, ok but I really can't do the military presses while standing on one leg. So I did it without weights and then did a couple of sets with weights but standing still afterwards

And then we went for a lovely picnic and walk not so much by a stream as in it...great till the end when my foot slipped and I rammed my big toe into a rock. I'll spare you the details. And then it turned out DH had lost the car key somewhere and I'd left the spare in the car - he and DD retraced the route but no joy. We were miles from anywhere, the RAC took 3 hours to turn up but then broke into the car for us in about 5 minutes.

So...£150 to replace the key and until the toenail falls off completely its limiting what I can do. I've just done day 14 but I couldn't do some of the moves so improvised or did something different. I think I may have to go back to level 1 as that doesn't require being on your toes nearly so much.

NoelHeadbands Mon 08-Jul-13 10:28:07

Oh no Grimma that's shite sad

Kudos for trying to carry on with an injury though. It's true, there is a lot of toe-work in L2 <damn you planks>

IWillDoItInAMinute Mon 08-Jul-13 12:02:32

L1D3 completed at last!! But I'm really hot and sweaty. Tomorrow might try early/late to avoid the heat...although I suppose the sweat means extra calories off?? <clutches at straws>

Back pain seems to have gone, foot pain for you though Grimma hope it heals up soon flowers

I don't know about anyone else but I am suffering in the heat in a way I haven't since being 8 months pregnant. My thighs rub together, I have beads of sweat running down my back and cleavage TMI, sorry.

I have about 21lbs to shred. I would be at my pre-pregnancy weight then. Realistically I'd be happy with 14lbs. Then I would weigh the same as I did the last time I wore a dress in public!! Where does the time go??

NoelHeadbands Mon 08-Jul-13 19:54:17

Day 13 done!

I'm so chuffed when Jillian tells me I've done an a-may-zing job at the end grin. I'm developing a bit of a crush on her I think, I saw some photos of her with her kids earlier and she looked so cool (and tiny!)

GoodtoBetter Mon 08-Jul-13 21:25:05

I lurve Jillian. I loved her on the biggest loser.

icepole Tue 09-Jul-13 05:06:32

Weekend was out for me, no time. I did level 2 today, going to swap it with 1 day about. Was hard!

GrimmaTheNome Tue 09-Jul-13 09:02:12

I was all ready to start and then DH said we should go for a walk as it's so nice (we both work from home with flexible hours, lucky us!) so I had my brekkie... and then he decided we should go a bit later hmm

I'll have to try to do it later. Well done the rest of you!

hillyhilly Tue 09-Jul-13 09:43:33

I've just done level 2 for about the 4th time, I'm doing the shred 3-4 days/week and finding it ok but am despondent that I can't really see a difference and since I started doing it just in my bra and pants I can look down at my belly hanging while my thighs slap together during the plank jacks - it's really not making me feel great about myself! Plus I seem to be unable to get my weight down - pissed off all round, sorry for moaning!!

GrimmaTheNome Tue 09-Jul-13 10:25:14

Day 15 done - half way there! Did level 1 as can do that barefoot. Blimey, I'm hot!

Weight loss isn't easy, is it - but hoping this weather will help, it does make a salad actually seem like a good idea rather than a penance.

IWillDoItInAMinute Tue 09-Jul-13 12:11:00

L1D4 done - did it in bra and knickers like hilly. Much better, less sweaty but ISWYM, it doesn't do much for your self esteem sad

Congrats Grimma on reaching the half way point, wine but I suppose it's a little early in the day for that ?

And I don't care that Jillian wouldn't approve <looks over shoulder>

GrimmaTheNome Tue 09-Jul-13 16:46:25

I get by on brew. DH eventually surfaced for our walk, which turned out to include lunch in the café in the park where I indulged in a FFS <childishly amused at recycled acronym>.

PessimisticMissPiggy Tue 09-Jul-13 19:53:43

Hilly me too. Rather dispondent today. Weigh in tomorrow and despite trying really hard with this and WW I just know I've maintained again.

What's a girl got to do to shift some pounds!!!!

OverAndAbove Tue 09-Jul-13 23:02:01

I've done 11 days of level 1 (by accident, I meant to do 10!) so tomorrow it will be level 2. I keep seeing mention of The Plank. Dreading it.

icepole Wed 10-Jul-13 05:55:28

Did level 1, really didn't want too in the heat! Also kids will not leave me alone confused. I have never recovered shape after birth of my second baby. First I did but only by under eating and I don't want to do that ever again. But am older now and it's all much harder.

OverAndAbove Wed 10-Jul-13 06:59:02

Done day 1 of level 2. Oh my goodness I've got the wobbles.

PessimisticMissPiggy Wed 10-Jul-13 07:20:14

Argh! I have maintained!

GoodtoBetter Wed 10-Jul-13 07:34:09

Did level1 again last night but really wasn't into it. It's hard in 40 degree heat. Had a stomach ache and really jaded so stopped about 2 thirds of the way thru. sad

GoodtoBetter Wed 10-Jul-13 07:35:25

I haven't lost any weight either and I'm not eating much in the heat and even cycling a bit on the way to work.

NoelHeadbands Wed 10-Jul-13 08:28:02

Half way through for me today. Also disappointed- no weight lost, which I kind of expected, but no massive physical differences yet either.

I did wear a dress with heels yesterday and did a double take at my calf definition, which was nice....but tbh I could live with my skinny calves! Kinda like to lose some belly or some thigh please grin

MrsBertMacklin Wed 10-Jul-13 09:07:01

Morning. I really struggled yesterday and didn't complete Day 5. I got two thirds of the way through Circuit 1 and still wasn't feeling warmed up or getting into it, so I turned it off and treated yesterday as a rest day.

My weigh-in today - no weight lost or gained. Not surprising, as I went off-piste on the diet front at the weekend, so this wiped out the 2 pound loss I had earlier in the week.

Going to do Day 5 today in the evening.

Trazzletoes Wed 10-Jul-13 09:58:16

Did day 1 of level 2 yesterday <gasp> I can't even plank for 30 seconds let alone do anything else! I'm ashamed that I probably only managed half of it. I'm not very achy this morning so I suspect I really didn't push myself at all. Although at the time sweat was pouring off me and I could hardly stand up!

Feeling a little despondent that I was so rubbish!

GrimmaTheNome Wed 10-Jul-13 10:17:39

Day 16 - I managed level 2 barefoot with the toe well plastered up, had to do the Anita moves for the plank jacks and - forget the name of the other thing, the bunny hop one to avoid landing awkwardly. Need to go and do some military presses to make up for the ones I can't do standing on one leg.

I really find the jump rope hard (definitely not doing double!) - I can do about 10 jumps and then have to rest a moment, my legs just won't do that.

I'm staying off the scales till Friday - I'm doing 5:2, tomorrow is a fast day. I'm done with stressing about weight though, I'm doing this because both the 5:2 and the workouts are making me feel healthier (once I was over the dead legs in the first 4 days).

BTW, that reminds me, I find I can do a much better quad stretch at the end if I put the spare hand on the arm of the sofa for balance - I'd already figured this out, Jillian could have done with mentioning this in level 1 rather than waiting till level 2.

NoelHeadbands Wed 10-Jul-13 11:11:22

Jillian could have done with mentioning this in level 1 rather than waiting till level 2.

I thought exactly the same Grimma

FitByForty Wed 10-Jul-13 12:57:57

Well I've done it. After many (far too many) months of procrastination, I have finally lost my Shred cherry grin

It wasn't a pretty sight. There were things flapping about all over the place that I'm sure are not meant to flap. The warm up just about killed me off to be honest but I carried on. I discovered I'm not very good at jumping jacks (can't seem to get the co-ordination right) And as for bicycle crunches, well I'm not even going to go there.

But I did make it to the end. And I sweated for at least an hour afterwards. And with 6 weeks to go before this flappy body needs to be made public I am determined I will carry on (though not over this weekend cos I'm on a hen weekend).

So bring on L1D2 - I'm ready for you!!

GoodtoBetter Wed 10-Jul-13 13:00:31

Well done Fit! It gets --a bit--easier. grin

FitByForty Wed 10-Jul-13 13:08:44

I'm so looking forward to it getting easier. Even just a bit grin

Suprisingly, my legs feel ok today (I did it late last night). It's across my chest that feels like I've been run over by a bus. And that's after I abandoned the weights for a couple of the exercises.

IWillDoItInAMinute Wed 10-Jul-13 13:24:07

L1D5 done today

I did the stupid thing of googling b4 and after shots of 30day shred. Lots of braver women than me posting pics grin

Not so hot today so was a bit better. I don't want to be a 'cheerleader' but I noticed most people are feeling a bit down/disappointed. You are all doing brilliantly I'm sure -I hope- our wobbly bits are shrinking! Don't forget you might weigh the same but you've probably got more muscle/less fat.

Our great British summer is almost over, when the weather returns to normal the exercise will be easier!

Come on lovely ladies, if Andy Murray can win, so can WE!!

<puts pom poms down and goes to find more fake tan and lipgloss>

MrsBertMacklin Wed 10-Jul-13 17:15:44

Thanks for motivating words, Minute I think they are needed, because we're all exercising in our pants! Not pretty, but I'm trying to use it to motivate me. And well done FitByForty for joining the Shreddies smile.

The weather's slightly cooler, so hopefully everyone will have a better time of it when they do their workouts tonight if not already done.

I've just completed L1D5, too - except I thought I'd give L2 a try. Plank moves I think aren't too gruelling, I think they're just hard because they make you move in a way that you aren't used to? I lost balance 5 times & during circuit 3, had to do a modified version of the jack planks, because my hands were so sweaty they kept slipping away from me.

I was the sweatiest I've ever been after exercise when I was finished & calves, quads, shoulders and arms are aching; good.

NoelHeadbands Wed 10-Jul-13 17:46:25

Evening everyone smile

You keep jiggling those pompoms IWill, I think I need the encouragement. Tonight's workout is looming...

GrimmaTheNome Wed 10-Jul-13 20:55:40

>we're all exercising in our pants!
not me - heaven forfend! Usually these but in the heat I've switched to running shorts. With a looseish top and of course heavy-duty sports bra.

Does anyone make the equivalent of a sports bra for tummies? grin

GrimmaTheNome Thu 11-Jul-13 09:16:13

Day 17, L2 - managed it reasonably well except those military presses but I've done 2 sets of those afterwards.

OverAndAbove Thu 11-Jul-13 10:22:12

I did day 2 of level 2 - I wasn't aching too much after yesterday, although finding the shoulder presses tough; but the cardio is a killer!

I think my arms have toned a little. Difficult to tell, as I also have a bit of a tan, but anyway they definitely look better...

icepole Fri 12-Jul-13 04:57:54

Wednesday I fell off the wagon. Did level 2 yesterday. Arms feeling stronger for sure. I can only do easy versions of things though.

GrimmaTheNome Fri 12-Jul-13 10:26:43

Day 18 done, L2 as before.
61.3 kg so that's nearly 1.5 kg down since July 1st...though I think I was a little dehydrated when I weighed.

That's 9st 9 in old money which is 'just over 9 and a half' rather than 'nearly ten', isn't it? grin

Illustrated Fri 12-Jul-13 10:40:12

Hello everyone,

I'm a bit late to the game here, hope that's ok. I can see you are all quite far in (please tell me your all feeling better now you've gotten into it)

I had a baby 11 months ago and although I'm back to my pre pregnancy weight my body is certainly not what I'd like it to be. I'm 8 and a half stone and would like to tone up my stomach and lose the fat on my hips, thighs and bum.

I started yesterday but I'm going to need a lot of motivation as I'm already completely tired out from my dd. I'm not aching as much as I thought I'd be. I originally started the shred before I got pregnant and I remember being in a lot of pain on day 2, I'm not sure why I'm not now!

GrimmaTheNome Fri 12-Jul-13 12:29:51

Of course you can join, we're not even halfway through the month!

TBH I didn't feel too bad till days 3 and 4, but it did get better after that. Take note of advice below to support yourself for the quad stretch at the end so you can do it really well, that might help a bit.

IWillDoItInAMinute Fri 12-Jul-13 13:07:08

Grimma thanks for the quad stretch tip, much better to steady oneself rather than wobbling all over the place! Although my tummy is still wobbly, I could use a tummy sports bra, what a fab idea!!

It reminded me of the Seinfeld episode with the "mansier or Bro"

<pompoms up>. Fantastic work everyone and welcome newcomers!!

L1D7 done, I was going to try level 2 yesterday -as jealous with all the progress and talk of plank jacks- but on YouTube it said I had to rent it confused
So I decided I should buy the DVD, it is time.

Spent 5mins searching YouTube this morning and found it for free, yay!!!

I had a quick look, what is Natalie doing?? Walking on her hands into a push up??? [frightened emoticon]

I might just stick to level 1 until my 10 days are up...

GrimmaTheNome Fri 12-Jul-13 13:46:06

You can just walk out to plank position and hold instead of the full 'walking pushup'. I'm doing something between at the moment - walking out and then doing a slight dip, nowhere near the full push-up.

MrsBertMacklin Fri 12-Jul-13 13:46:37

Hi everyone, L1D6 completed this morning. My face didn't go red!

Having a go at Level 2 the day before helped, as I swapped out some of the cardio and abs with moves from L2 to make it more interesting, e.g. swapped a set of jumping jacks for oblique twists, reverse crunches for double crunches.

NoelHeadbands Fri 12-Jul-13 17:01:45

L2D16 done- missed a turn the other night and did a run instead.

MrsBertMacklin Fri 12-Jul-13 17:13:31

Noel when you do the plank/burpee thing in L2, are you careful about your technique or do you just throw yourself up and down and make the best of it? It takes me ages just to get up and down, so I'm not worrying too much about getting my arms in the right place, as I'm worried about keeping up with the DVD.

NoelHeadbands Fri 12-Jul-13 21:12:18

Is that the walk out-push up thing MrsB

If so... I make a bit of a hash of it I guess.. I walk it out as straight legged as I can, then I fanny around trying to spread my arms out (because she mentions later on that the plank pose is different to the push up pose). Then I kind of 'dip' a bit- a proper press up is still beyond me. Then finally, I scramble back up.

And then they've done two to my one.

GrimmaTheNome Fri 12-Jul-13 23:58:15

Yeah, snap, that's how real people do 'em. grin

Illustrated Sat 13-Jul-13 11:22:09

Day 3! My legs are achy today, going up and down stairs is a killer.

Im wondering if any of you plan on weighing yourselves/re measuring hips/waist etc. half way through or are you just going to wait till day 30?

IWillDoItInAMinute Sat 13-Jul-13 11:28:24

L1D8 done before it gets too hot -and everyone is out so they can't point and laugh "look at mummy!"-

Disappointed as Level 2 has gone again on YT confused
So I've ordered the DVD on amazon, I feel ready to move on.

Lost 2lbs this week, probably due to sweating blush. Anyone else feeling stronger? I really think my arms are improving.

Tbh if I didn't have this thread I think I wouldn't be as motivated with this, so thanks to all! Your posts encourage me and sometimes make me snort!

Enjoy the weekend!!!

NoelHeadbands Sat 13-Jul-13 12:33:58

I weigh about once a week Illustrated but I just took a 'Before' pic, I didn't measure. I'm planning on taking an 'After' pic...just hope I start to see some differences soon!

I feel tonnes stronger though, like IWill says

MrsBertMacklin Sat 13-Jul-13 12:40:53

InAMinute L2 is showing here?

I'm only on L1D6 and my calves have shaped up incredibly. I do like the jumpy moves though, so much fun. I haven't noticed any physical difference elsewhere yet, but yesterday's workout didn't kill me as much - apart from bloody reverse crunches - I just can't do them!

Photo is a good idea, as is meassuring your waist, arms, thighs etc. every fortnight. Given that we should be putting muscle on, this will be a better indicator of progress than weight loss.

IWillDoItInAMinute Sat 13-Jul-13 13:18:02

MrsB you are bloody brilliant !! flowers Thank you so much, I'll try L2 tomorrow once the coast is clear.

Not sure if I could take a photo. It is a good idea though. Perhaps on a brave day grin

FitByForty Sat 13-Jul-13 13:33:19

L1D4 done for me. It does seem to be getting a little easier though it was tough last night when it was so hot! Thankful the muscle aches the day after have started to ease a little too. I no longer feel as if my arms are going to fall off!
I've not done any measurements at the beginning but I did take some before pics (just hope no one else finds them on my phone)
On my way to London for a hen night now so today will officially be a rest day. Enjoy your weekend everyone.

PessimisticMissPiggy Sat 13-Jul-13 18:47:38

I'm away for a couple of days and DH said it was embarrassing to take it with us!

Back on it Monday.

GoodtoBetter Sun 14-Jul-13 06:35:05

why on earth would it be misspiggy?

icepole Sun 14-Jul-13 08:52:40

Missed a day Friday but did level 2 yesterday. Am a slacker. I do alright until the chair lift thing.

MrsBertMacklin Sun 14-Jul-13 12:54:26

Missed yesterday; it was just too bloody hot. I've been catching up on sleep this morning after a really crap night, planning on getting L1D7 done shortly before my second shower of the day.

PessimisticMissPiggy Sun 14-Jul-13 13:03:07

GoodtoBetter staying with family and they have squeaky floorboards and one TV!

IWillDoItInAMinute Sun 14-Jul-13 20:48:34

First day of Level 2 done today, thanks again for the link MrsB!

It wasn't too bad. I had to miss the first few of each exercise as I needed to watch Jillian...some of those moves are very complicated confused

Everything was extra wobbly, think I'll need to wear more than undies next time grin

GoodtoBetter Sun 14-Jul-13 20:59:48

I found the skater v hard because I am totally uncoordinated.

GrimmaTheNome Mon 15-Jul-13 09:24:25

Day 19, L2 done.

I didn't do any over the weekend - intentionally on Saturday, spent all day watching DD sail/windsurf - too hot to contemplate donning my full wetsuit to do any myself, and they don't really like people sailing singlehanders or windsurfing without ... must get a shortie.

Yesterday we got up early and took the inflatable canoe to Coniston, which was great - but after packing up ready to go at about 3pm we found that we were boxed into the car park and were stuck till after 4:30 when other people started to leave and there was room to manoeuvre out. Following last week's car key debacle, we're wondering what we will do next sunday to get inadvertently stuck for a few hours somewhere pleasant. Anyway, by the time we'd got home and I'd sorted the gear and food there just wasn't time but at least I'd done some good paddling.

IWillDoItInAMinute Mon 15-Jul-13 11:53:28

Sounds like a lively weekend Grimma grin

Sympathies Good the pendulum lunge is a particular problem for me as I am also totally uncoordinated.

Level 2 day2 - aches not too bad. I do get very red in the face and sweaty, it's not attractive!!

Am feeling stronger smile

MrsBertMacklin Mon 15-Jul-13 12:27:16

L1D8 done. Did D7 yesterday and found that the Anita moves weren't really hard anymore so I've moved up to match Natalie. Still mixing in some cardio from Level 2 with Level 1, much more fun.

Oh, and I found this on My Fitness Pal about Natalie cheating when Jillian's not looking. Keep an eye out next time, they are right smile

NoelHeadbands Mon 15-Jul-13 21:50:45

Evening all

L2D8 done!

Managing okay, except I've totally given up on the pendulum lunges- it's not that it hurts as such, I just get the weirdest feeling in my left knee, like its going to go pop or something. My knees are pretty shot I must admit- they squelch when I use stairs grin

FitByForty Mon 15-Jul-13 23:37:49

That sounds like an interesting knee sound Noel grin

Well my hen weekend was fab but back on it today. This is the point at which I normally give up. When I've had a little break and can't find the motivation to get going again. But I found it tonight and L1D5 is done. So feeling pretty happy with myself as I climb/fall into bed tonight.
Night all.

GrimmaTheNome Tue 16-Jul-13 10:18:59

Well done FBF!

Day20, L2 done, and I watched the L3 while I ate brekkie afterwards.
Hmm... I can't do bloody jump rope and that's just in warm up! shock
I might do JJs instead.

PessimisticMissPiggy Tue 16-Jul-13 20:34:12

Oh my, I am getting behind! I've not done it since Wedsnesday last week! My excuse today is that it is 30 deg in my living room and my fan is in my DD's bedroom.

It's so stuffy. There is no breeze at all!

MrsBertMacklin Tue 16-Jul-13 21:19:12

Come on MissPiggy, no excuses! Think of the extra fat burning benefits of doing it in this heat.

L1D9 done. There was a LOT of grunting and swearing this time and I looked like a sweaty beetroot by the end grin. First session since starting, where I didn't need to stop at all for a 5-second rest, hurrah!

Unfortunately, the UPS delivery man called about a minute after I'd finished, god knows what he thought I'd been doing.

FitByForty Tue 16-Jul-13 21:52:06

Disastrous attempt for me today.
Really didn't want to start. Have had a a hectic day at work then came home, sorted the kids, baked and decorated 40 buns for DS's pirate party at school tomorrow, made packed lunches and ironed fresh uniform for tomorrow.
Gave myself a good talking to and got started. But didn't finish blush Got half way through and realised I just don't have it in me tonight.
And it's so bloody hot in here!!!

Anyway, have given myself another talking to and the plan is to set my alarm for 6 in the morning and get up before the kids and the heat and do it then. Well, that's the plan. Wish me luck!

GrimmaTheNome Tue 16-Jul-13 21:52:17

If you could manage to do it first thing in the morning it's cooler then.

GrimmaTheNome Tue 16-Jul-13 21:56:56

x-post - my last was in response to Miss Piggy but applies to you to FBF - I have to get my DD to her bus-stop by 7:30 so I do it after that, before breakfast and a quick shower. I know not everyone can fit it in in the morning but it feels good to have got it over with!

FitByForty Tue 16-Jul-13 22:19:30

Thanks Grimma. I definitely going to give it a go. It can't be any harder than 9 at night when I have been doing it (surely!)

Illustrated Wed 17-Jul-13 08:58:31

Hello everyone.
Day 6 for me, I've lost a quarter of a stone already which I'm happy about, although to me its more about how I look than how much I weigh.

I was in need of serious motivation yesterday so decided to mute Jillian and put my own workout music on. Seemed to make the whole thing a bit easier, I recommend it.

MrsBertMacklin Wed 17-Jul-13 10:03:17

FitByForty, MissPiggy, have you Shredded yet this morning?

Doing mine once I've finished my first glass of water for the day. Very pleased to report that I weighed/measured myself this morning. I have lost an inch of my waist/hips in the last 2 weeks and 4 pounds in the last week smile so all that sweat and toil is working.

GrimmaTheNome Wed 17-Jul-13 10:03:50

Day 21, L3 and it wasn't that bad! Sure, I did the Anitas for some of the moves and had to put down the weights partway through the JJs but I enjoyed it more than the other levels in some ways.

Illustrated - well done! Good idea about the music, though I don't have any 'workout' music ... TBH I wish the audio options had an instructions only, no music option. I find if I'm doing one of the planky things I'm not looking at the screen so need the voice to tell me when to stop. I just have the volume really low.

GrimmaTheNome Wed 17-Jul-13 10:05:57

Oh well done MrsBert too. I need 3 mugs of tea before I start (or one tea and a black coffee on fast days). I slosh a bit! grin

MrsBertMacklin Wed 17-Jul-13 10:11:05

Illustrated & Grimma I think once I have memorised the routines a bit more, I'll be switching to my own music, too. That said, I also wish there was an 'instructions only' soundtrack, as Jillian really helps keep me motivated & I now like talking along with her, e.g. 'punch it out', 'don't phone it in'.

Which is why I only put the DVD on when DP isn't in the house (that and the copious sweating and grunting) grin

GrimmaTheNome Wed 17-Jul-13 11:12:14

I was grunting too this morning. Hopefully not loud enough to be heard upstairs in the office where DH was on a work call!

MrsBertMacklin Wed 17-Jul-13 12:14:05

Haven't seen IWillDoItInAMinute or NoelHeadbands check in, how are you getting on?

L1D10 done. Very tired by circuit 2 and didn't put as much effort in as I did yesterday, but done nonetheles, with no stops.

Rest day tomorrow, then Level 2. Fuck.

GrimmaTheNome Wed 17-Jul-13 12:21:58

Hope they're hanging in. I know I've got an advantage over a lot of people because (a) I have to get up early (might go to pot next week when DD is on hol...) and (b) I work from home, but heck if I can do it at the age of 52 I'm sure you all can! smile

IWillDoItInAMinute Wed 17-Jul-13 23:22:47

Had to take yesterday as a rest day, level 2 is having a strange affect on my feet! They really hurt, have been trying bare feet/trainers. I was too hot in trainers.

Have been getting up at 6 to walk the pup, he isn't enjoying the weather. I hate to complain about the weather but at the moment it feels too hot to move

Well done MrsB, I haven't noticed any shrinkage yet grin I should measure myself soon.

GrimmaTheNome Wed 17-Jul-13 23:44:05

Getting up at 6 to walk the pup is noble - fortunately my dog doesn't really need a daily walk and we've got quite a few nice shady walks under trees so can do that later on.

My feet seem to have been ok barefoot - except some of the L3 moves today they were slipping a bit on the carpet.

NoelHeadbands Thu 18-Jul-13 08:21:04

Hi hi hi <waves to all>

Day 19 (L2D9) done this morning, I skipped a day yesterday as I had a long day at work BUT I did run in the morning so not all bad.

STILL not a pound lost on the scales grin but my legs feel rock hard, and I can tell there are abs there now... just under the flab still

Well done everyone!

NoelHeadbands Thu 18-Jul-13 08:32:35

Oh wow I just committed my cardinal sin of standing on the scales after food or liquids have passed my lips grin but ... 3lbs off!

About bloody time sez I

GrimmaTheNome Thu 18-Jul-13 08:35:45

Well done Noel!

Day22, L3 done. Still crap at push-ups but the rest not too bad. I got a new shortie wetsuit yesterday, had to try it on over a swimming costume - not too bad!

IWillDoItInAMinute Thu 18-Jul-13 10:12:08

L2D4 done (I think) not sure if to count rest days confused

First day with TV size Jillian, envy at Natalie -legs YKWIM !!!

Rather than noble, I think I'm stupid to walk pup at 6 am. I have to do it before DH leaves for work, pup is his but it wouldn't occur to him to do it.

Level 2 is tough for me but it feels good to have done it -after pulling sweat soaked clothes off standing under cool shower for 5 mins and drinking a litre of water- grin

Well done to everyone, like Jillian tells us "you are tough" !!!
Oh and Grimma I slosh too!!

Congrats Noel you played weight roulette with the scales and beat them smile

GrimmaTheNome Thu 18-Jul-13 10:44:11

Don't count rest days!

Illustrated Thu 18-Jul-13 11:58:44

Well done everyone!

Day 7 finished for me. I was wondering if everyone gets a sharp ache in their side when doing the punches? Its every time for me!

Do you all eat before your workout or after? I'm not sure what's the better thing to do.

IWillDoItInAMinute Thu 18-Jul-13 12:15:47

Thanks Grimma <deflated hopeful emoticon> grin

Illustrated I eat before but it's a good hour between eating and Shredding. No punch related side aches here, but my feet hurt sad

MrsBertMacklin Thu 18-Jul-13 12:22:48

Illustrated, sounds like you might be building up new muscle too quickly on your lats: are you giving yourself rest days? The 'windmill' move in the Level 1 warmup should be stretching your lats before you start exercising, but I know in level 1, there's not a static cooldown stretch targeting the lats.

Maybe look at YouTube for 'stretch for lat muscles' and see if there's a stretch on there which will help?

Rest day for me today, which my knees and ankles are grateful for. My knees and ankles are feeling the effect of the jump rope, planning on a cool bath with some analgesic aromatherapy oils later today.

Well done, Noel and everyone else for sticking at it in this heat.

GrimmaTheNome Thu 18-Jul-13 20:03:24

I hate doing exercise on a full stomach - its one reason I do it first thing before breakfast, just drink beforehand. (if I try anything like running after eating it tends to give me a stitch).

Digestion takes quite a lot of blood supply, I believe - so if you exercise after eating the food will just be sitting there.

And I'd rather be as light as possible doing the jumping!

NoelHeadbands Thu 18-Jul-13 21:07:42

I find exercising easier on an empty stomach. Even downing water whilst I'm in the middle of a routine or a run (well, trot) gives me a crampy feeling in my stomach sometimes

notanyanymore Fri 19-Jul-13 08:27:13

Thankyou for this thread, i sat down a 9 last night came across this thread and it inspired me to go straight down stairs and SHRED! DP came home to find me manically star jumping whilst sweating a tsunami and with my dress tucked in my knickers blush but i'm so pleased i've finally started to try and shift the baby weight! only concern is my stomach muscles seperated during prenancy (again) I didn't realise how bad it still was until I did a crunch and had a quick check, not good at all! so i've been having to leave the abs part out... do you think its ok to continue with the rest of it or should i try and see the physio again to make sure...?

GrimmaTheNome Fri 19-Jul-13 09:26:50

Day 23 done. Blimey I'm hot!

Hello, notany , well done - but would be wise to check with a physio, s/he might be able to suggest alternatives. Apart from the actual abs exercises, the push up/plank moves (which figure more in L2/3) are supposed to engage the abs so they might not be the best thing for you yet. Meanwhile why not just do the parts you feel ok with and do extra JJs or something in bits you can't?

mrstalbear Fri 19-Jul-13 09:37:11

hello smile

can I join in? I started a couple of days ago (now D3L1) and am suffering!

I really need to tone up my wobbly post baby tummy and thighs!

pre-pregnancy I had been running (stopped at 14wks) and horse riding (which I continued with until 38wks). I have been riding once a week for the last 8 weeks but have only managed to get out running a couple of times as DD screamed the house down both times.

I thought the shred may be a good alternative but I am starting to regret it! Somebody please tell me it gets better!

IWillDoItInAMinute Fri 19-Jul-13 10:23:54

Welcome notany I 2nd what Grimma wrote, great advice do take care smile and mrst it does get better -and worse when you begin L2 and then better again smile

L2D5 done. Not so hot today, phew!!!
Finding myself giving up a bit on the plank jacks and can anyone do the crunch leg lower thing? I am hopeless at that, not even close to Anita moves blush

I did notice today on my way back from taking DCs to school, I felt more energetic and stronger within myself IYKWIM. Not sure if its from walking the pup earlier or this, maybe it's both, it felt great.

GrimmaTheNome Fri 19-Jul-13 12:20:58

MrsT - I found it got better after day 4 so hang in there - and TBH I didn't find myself suffering again when I went to L2 and L3.

IWill - the leg lowering thing, no, I can't get very low but its one of those things you just do it as far as you can and should gradually improve. I couldn't do the full sit-up on the first day of L3 but could today!!!

Yes, I'm feeling generally fitter and stronger and tighter - not so much wobble! Being a shortarse I often have to get on a chair to reach my top cupboards and its no strain now! smile I find myself wondering why the heck I didn't do something like this years ago - 20 mins a day is worth it if it makes the rest of life easier.

mrstalbear Fri 19-Jul-13 14:07:03

thank you for your lies encouragement!

I still have to do today as was out early, going to have to wait until later coz its far too hot for that malarkey now!

NoelHeadbands Fri 19-Jul-13 20:09:57

Welcome mrst and notany, and anyone else giving it a go!

Day 20 done this morning, so I guess it's L3D1 tomorrow-eek!

IWillDoItInAMinute Fri 19-Jul-13 21:26:59

Good luck Noel grin

I took a sneak peak at L3 today - eek indeed !!!

mrstalbear Fri 19-Jul-13 21:50:23

Oh dear! Day 3 done, at least now I know which exercises have broken me as I really struggled with them tonight.

Anyone have any tips for tight calf muscles? I used deep heat pre pregnancy but am still bf and it advises against using it. Problem is, I've spent the last 2 days walking like a chicken!

Oh how I am looking forwards to tomorrow ;-)

NoelHeadbands Sat 20-Jul-13 11:02:45

Thanks IWill grin

Get a rolling pin on those calves mrst, employ a small child to roll it up and down on them for a bit.

Well L3D1 completed. It's a bit jumpy innit??

mrstalbear Sat 20-Jul-13 14:02:08

Thanks Noel

Unfortunately the only small child I have is 14wk old dd. May have to rope in dh for that one!

Well D4L1 done, not as bad as I was expecting although should have at least a banana before hand I think!

So, I had promises that tomorrow would be getting better.............

Illustrated Sat 20-Jul-13 21:36:41

Hello fellow shredders. Just checking in. Day 9. My last day on level one tomorrow.

I've converted 2 people to the 30 day shred as they said they could already see a difference (although I'm not sure if they are just saying that) I feel a bit firmer but maybe I'm imagining it.

What is everyone planning on doing after 30 days? Carry on every now and again?

GrimmaTheNome Sat 20-Jul-13 21:44:25

I'm having a 'rest' day today (lots of carting around of sailing and winsurfing kit - was going to sail but DH didn't feel well so we just walked round the reservoir). Not sure I'll fit it in tomorrow either as we're planning a repeat trip to Coniston with the canoe but this time try to get there earlier to choose a parking place we're less likely to be blocked into!)

GrimmaTheNome Sat 20-Jul-13 21:47:09

>What is everyone planning on doing after 30 days? Carry on every now and again?

It'll pretty much take me up to my holiday, which should be active enough but I want to carry on doing something when I get back now I've got into a bit of a habit. Not sure whether to try something different.

NoelHeadbands Sat 20-Jul-13 22:26:55

I'm toying with the idea of buying one of Jillian's (first name terms now me and Jill) other DVDs to start when I'm done shredding.

Hmm dunno though, might just shred again. I definitely want to continue doing something

IWillDoItInAMinute Sat 20-Jul-13 23:42:36

Rest day -again- for me. I've been on my feet since 7 this morning, they hurt !!! Back to it tomorrow. Can't do it tonight as DD has a sleepover. Can you imagine her shame if one of her friends caught me shredding grin. I don't think I could manage it anyway. I am knackered !!!

Illustrated I had the same thought yesterday. This go at 30 day is helping, but I know it won't be enough, I'll need something. Also this thread is really helpful, I'll probably need another one if this one has finished sad

Grimma I haven't been to consiston for a few years, 'twas beautiful smile

IWillDoItInAMinute Sun 21-Jul-13 00:05:45

Me too Noel, I was intrigued by her yoga DVD but I might just Shred again as it really is changing my body shape.

Jillian (as I'm only on L2 it's still Jillian) has stated that if I work like Natalie I'll have a body like Natalie's. I think a few years of shredding and I might -in my dreams- have those legs grin

HellesBelles396 Sun 21-Jul-13 10:08:29

Hello. I have done - or very nearly done thanks to my dad coming round- my first 30 day shred workout. I missed the last strength/core workout.

I was wondering, is this a daily workout? Also, do any of you add extra stretches? The ones on the dvd are sparse.

Because I am fat and arthritic, I swapped to very vigorous marching when the jumping was hurting my knees and feet but, hopefully, as I lose weight, that won't be as much of a problem. Has that been the case for anyone on here?

Should I swap to level 2 when I feel level 1 is jo lonher as much of a challenge - no matyer hos long that takes?

NoelHeadbands Sun 21-Jul-13 10:24:34

Hi Helles. I've just moved into L3, I think I've had three 'rest' days so far.

I just did the 10 days of L1 and moved up (and so on). Tbh I think if I waited until each level was no longer a challenge I'd still be on L1!

NoelHeadbands Sun 21-Jul-13 10:30:33

I don't do extra stretches no, but I think it'd be a good idea, the DVD ones are as you say, sparse.

My problem is that by the end of the last stretch I'm just ready to flop out for several minutes

HellesBelles396 Sun 21-Jul-13 12:08:20

It is a full blast workout!! I liked the fact that it was soonover but still energetic enough to burn some calories and give me the good ache.

NoelHeadbands Sun 21-Jul-13 13:40:24

I did Day 1 of Level 3 yesterday and today the muscles in my waist at the sides are sore.

Im always impressed when a different set of muscles start to ache, makes me feel like I've done more grin

Not done D2 yet, but I did run this morning. I'm trying to do C25k as well, but I'm not that far in- about to start Week 3. It's probably a bigger challenge than the Shred for me, I have never been a natural runner. I struggle.

Is anyone else doing C25k?

IWillDoItInAMinute Sun 21-Jul-13 15:26:46

L2 D6 done

Something very exciting happened this morning. It was cooler so I pulled out a pair of jeans to wear, I pulled out the pair I bought that didn't fit because of my mum -crisps&choc- tum and thunder thighs. I thought I would give them a go. I managed to put them on and do them up!!!! Not comfy enough to wear but they were on !!!!

I must be more toned [over the moon emoticon]

It's working, it's actually working !!!!!!!!

HellesBelles396 Sun 21-Jul-13 17:03:04

Fantastic iWillDoItInAMinute! That's so muh kore meaningful than numbers on the scales.

IWillDoItInAMinute Sun 21-Jul-13 20:15:11

Thanks HellesBelles smile

I also forgot to mention that I managed to do a few of the leg lowering ones and the leg kick military presses, about 5 before wobbling all over the place grin

NoelHeadbands Sun 21-Jul-13 22:11:23

Well done IWill

Day 22 completed. I officially can't do Rock Star jumps, nor that bloody jump lunge thing.

IWillDoItInAMinute Sun 21-Jul-13 22:16:14

Thanks Noel, they sound scary shock

PessimisticMissPiggy Sun 21-Jul-13 22:27:09

Checking in. I'm starting back on L2 tomorrow.
Well done everyone who has carried on during the heat wave - I've not been able to hack it.

MrsBertMacklin Sun 21-Jul-13 22:33:12

Please can someone nag me tomorrow AM. I should have been on Day 2 of Level 2 by now but have actually spent this weekend eating tapas & drinking beer. The plan is to get up and Shred first thing, so I should have posted on here by 11am tomorrow!

<sets reminder on phone to nag MrsB>

Doesn't matter MissPiggy, just get right back on it. Must admit, between the Shred and C25K I'm probably going to be bankrupt by autumn- must be costing us a fortune in water, electricity and shampoo!

mrstalbear Sun 21-Jul-13 23:08:58

Hi, just checking in on d5l1. All those who told me it got better were right! Felt much better today and almost thought I could have done something else after!
I think i may use level 1 as a warm up when I get out running again.

Have lost 2kgs this week and 2in from waist, 1/2 inch from hips and just over 1/2 inch from each thigh! All since last Monday! :-)

Bring on day 6!

icepole Sun 21-Jul-13 23:37:21

Major falling off of wagon!! Just too hot! Level 2 done today smile

NoelHeadbands Mon 22-Jul-13 07:44:20

Well done mrst smile

Nice one icepole, now where's that MrsBert??

GrimmaTheNome Mon 22-Jul-13 09:49:20

Well done MrsT - you should never have doubted us !wink Blimey, that's impressive.

Day 24 done. Noel, those jump lunge things are hard - I'm trying to do them but slower so I can get my balance and sort myself out in between. Rock star jumps ...I do them like a real rock star. You know, given they're all OAPs now grin

IWillDoItInAMinute Mon 22-Jul-13 10:07:49

MrsB I hope you are shredding as I type !!!

Well done everyone, grin @ Grimma and did you get stuck in a car park this weekend??

I was all over the place this morning, pendulum lunges were terrible and I just can't do double jump rope sad

IWillDoItInAMinute Mon 22-Jul-13 10:10:00

L2 D7 done blush

HellesBelles396 Mon 22-Jul-13 11:01:15

L1.2 done. Really hoping it gets easier! Not all of the raises made it to eye level on the second set of reps and that last set of jumping jacks suffered as a result. Still it felt good smile

GrimmaTheNome Mon 22-Jul-13 11:26:13

>did you get stuck in a car park this weekend??
no, we got there earlier to choose place carefully, and anyway this time we took a cool box so we bought enough at the simply M&S for tea before we came home so we wouldn't have minded too much.

MrsBertMacklin Mon 22-Jul-13 12:43:23

I've not done it yet. In my defence, I didn't get to bed until 3 last night and only woke up an hour ago. I'll definitely be doing it before dinner tonight though, I'm actually feeling the absence of exercise this morning.

mrstalbear Mon 22-Jul-13 12:59:46

L1D6 done, I think I am starting to enjoy this or have at least stopped gasping at jillian that she is a b****!

I managed to rope a friend into starting at the same time and so far the competition has kept her doing it. I keep telling her that in 30 days we will be slim and toned and gawjus!

Well done everyone! smile

IWillDoItInAMinute Mon 22-Jul-13 13:14:33

Oh MrsB <shakes head> tut tut grin

Sounds lovely Grimma smile

HellesBelles some days are easier than others, you should've seen me this morning, over balancing all over the place, not my finest moment!

Oh and BTW I'm sure if Jillian and her best girls had to workout in my 30 degree sitting room rather than an air conditioned studio, they would be sweaty and red in the face too (still trying to come to terms with what a state I'm in after)

NoelHeadbands Mon 22-Jul-13 19:17:19

Well done shredders

L3D3 done. Can't believe I've actually made it this far, I'm usually such an exercisephobe

mrstalbear Tue 23-Jul-13 08:55:57

L1D7 done! feel so much better to be exercising regularly again!

keep it going everyone smile

mrstalbear Tue 23-Jul-13 09:01:09

oh bugger, just realised I have to start L2 tomorrow!

mrstalbear Tue 23-Jul-13 09:07:08

ah, relief! don't go to L2 for another 3 days!

smiles and wiggles fat backside further into sofa

GrimmaTheNome Tue 23-Jul-13 09:51:52

Day 25 done - 5/6ths of the way!

HellesBelles396 Tue 23-Jul-13 09:55:36

L1D3 and the wobbling has begun. Really struggled to keep my balance during lunges.

GrimmaTheNome Tue 23-Jul-13 10:00:01

Do them slower. Or maybe you could do them next to a chair so there was something to grab for balance? (not sure if that would work - I did that for the leg raise in L2 once I'd realised I couldn't do the military presses at the same time anyway)

IWillDoItInAMinute Tue 23-Jul-13 11:55:41

L2 D8 done too exhausted to type !!

Great work everyone smile

Grimma and Noel you've nearly done

envy sad grin

Illustrated Tue 23-Jul-13 12:54:43

L2 D1..What is this madness!? When it started I was thinking 'ahh this isn't that bad!' until all the plank exercises started.

mrstalbear Tue 23-Jul-13 13:10:33

shock Illustrated

covering ears, not listening!

still in L1 ignorance grin

NoelHeadbands Tue 23-Jul-13 13:39:30

Grimma and Noel you've nearly done

Yup, that six pack has 6 days left to make an appearance grin

OverAndAbove Tue 23-Jul-13 16:03:36

I've had a ten day heat wave break but am now back on it. Did level 2 days 3,4 and 5 the last three mornings. I just end up a sweaty dripping mess at the end, but I am hoping it will be worth it. I think my legs might be toningup. Belly still very wobbly though. I am so sick of it!

IWillDoItInAMinute Tue 23-Jul-13 19:31:51

overandabove me too!

My legs and arms are definitely more toned, but my tum/bum/hips are still wobbly. I'm hoping that whatever Hell Jillian has for me in level 3 will tone these areas up grin

Well done for not giving up !!

mrstalbear Wed 24-Jul-13 09:23:11

L1D8 done here, blimey it's hot today!

GrimmaTheNome Wed 24-Jul-13 09:36:01

Day 26 done.

I still can't do press ups properly, even from the knee. I do a bit of a dip and then if I try to go further I end up with my face on the carpet. I really want to be able to, as push-ups are one of the exercises that if you can do them you can do anywhere anytime without kit.

HellesBelles396IsDeeplyUncool Wed 24-Jul-13 10:47:58

L1D4 done with no stiffness or aching but huge levels of weariness. Feeling good now it's over though smile I am think that I am working harder each day trying to go deeper and wider into the movements but my upper body strength is appalling. Just totally non-existant. Not for much longer though!!

Glad to see some progress in terms of feeling better able to do the exercises. Despite 5:2 for two weeks and now this for 4 days, I haven't lost even half an inch of my waist - that and fat proportion of weight are my key indicators for getting healthier so I'm a little dispirited. Passing a boots today so will nip in and check my fat percentage. Fingers crossed.

IWillDoItInAMinute Wed 24-Jul-13 12:21:11

HellesBelles don't be dispirited !!! I have only just noticed a real difference, it'll come, just keep up the great work and you will notice a change smile

My upper body strength is appalling -and lack of coordination-. This morning DS was showing me how strong he is (he's 6) using my weights. Of course by the time I came to shred they had vanished and I had to use heavier ones shock it was painful

I can't do a proper push up either, but I live in hope

IWillDoItInAMinute Wed 24-Jul-13 12:24:00

One more day of L2. - yikes

NoelHeadbands Wed 24-Jul-13 13:27:23

Well done everyone- Grimma you are nearly home and dry! Are you going to carry on?

I'm another who can't do a proper press up. I'm almost there with a 'knees' one, but not quite

GrimmaTheNome Wed 24-Jul-13 15:36:12

As opposed to home and dripping with sweat grin

I think after day 30 I'll cycle through the different levels for the few days before I go on holiday. Then when I come back, not sure if I'll carry on doing that or try something else - anyone got any recommendations? Arms and abs are what I need most - plus cardio...might try a bit of running if the canal towpath is still dry and if this stupid toenail will allow me to wear trainers by then. Are you planning on anything Noel - you're pretty near the end too.

NoelHeadbands Wed 24-Jul-13 16:05:29

Well I'm on week 3 of the couch to 5k thing so I'm going to continue with that. And repeat the shred a couple of times I think?

GrimmaTheNome Wed 24-Jul-13 16:30:31

doing c25k at the same time is masachoistic impressive.

NoelHeadbands Wed 24-Jul-13 16:36:00

Operation Bikini Bod you see grin

Illustrated Wed 24-Jul-13 16:48:58

Bloody hell I don't think I could hack doing more exercise on top of this! You must be very fit.

L2D2 I will be very pleased if I ever manage to do this level without having to take a few seconds break here and there. I cant imagine how hard level 3 is. I was taking some more pictures to compare to when I first started and I am liking my bum for the first time in agers! I feel like strutting around in my pants for the rest of the day now.

GrimmaTheNome Wed 24-Jul-13 18:19:51

Parts of L3 aren't that bad, IMO.

If anyone sees me doing the sumo thing I'll have to kill them though.

HellesBelles396IsDeeplyUncool Wed 24-Jul-13 20:21:49

IWillDoItInAMinute my body fat mass has gone down 1.5kg - though I weigh the same. So relieved to see a difference! Thank you for your encouragement.

While out for tea, I was watching bootcampers doing burpies and sprints. Oh my word! If I struggle with press-ups, how would I ever manage those?!

NoelHeadbands Wed 24-Jul-13 21:04:36

Fit me? No. Getting fitter though.

I actually tried to do C25k last year and couldn't get beyond week 1 as I struggled so badly with it. This time, I did about 10 days of Shredding before I had another bash, and the difference is marked. I still struggle grin but I can feel improvements are being made

NoelHeadbands Wed 24-Jul-13 21:05:07

Helles that's great

NoelHeadbands Wed 24-Jul-13 21:06:10

As is Illustrateds new bum grin

Well done all

karatekimmi Wed 24-Jul-13 21:44:27

Hi all, mind if I gate crash?

I was planning doing 30DS in August but started today (first day of the summer holidays for me) I start a new job in September and hope to get a gorgeous new wardrobe to swan around in and also hoping to start trying for a little sibling for DS in Decemberish and would like to be less fat

L1D1 done, I've started before and got about 2/3rds through, although I've never done L3

IWillDoItInAMinute Wed 24-Jul-13 21:58:08

Wow Helles that's brilliant!!

All this talk of C25K has me wondering...there's no point me starting it until September, but maybe Noel if I can keep on shredding until then, I might give it a go!!

This is the first time I've kept up an exercise program, you are all bloody brilliant and I couldn't do it without you -as I am a naturally lazy bugger-

And here's to Illustrateds lovely bum grin

IWillDoItInAMinute Wed 24-Jul-13 22:01:04

Welcome Kara well done for starting today!!

NoelHeadbands Wed 24-Jul-13 22:05:11

Welcome karate, and well done for starting early! Jump right in, the more the merrier

This is the first program I've ever stuck to as well IWill, and this thread and you guys are spurring me on.

When I bring out my first fitness DVD I'll be sure to mention you all in the credits grin

IWillDoItInAMinute Wed 24-Jul-13 23:39:48

grin @ Noel

Maybe we could be your "best girls"? I wanna do the Anita's though, any takers for Natalie??

GrimmaTheNome Thu 25-Jul-13 10:12:06

Day 27 done.

IWillDoItInAMinute Thu 25-Jul-13 19:09:54

Level 2 done

Had to wait until DH was back so could get the DCs out. I had a go this morning but I just can't do it if people are around

Level 3 tomorrow, oh Lordy Lordy what am I doing????

GrimmaTheNome Thu 25-Jul-13 19:13:49

>Level 3 tomorrow, oh Lordy Lordy what am I doing????

If I can (more or less) do it, you can. If you've time, take a quick look through to get an idea of the moves before you start and work out whether to do Anita or Natalie. (the one where you're in a plank with the weights on the floor I actually find N easier than A, oddly).

NoelHeadbands Thu 25-Jul-13 19:41:58

Well done IWill , you'll be fine on L3. If I can do it, anyone can.

I think I've actually found L1 to be the most tortuous, probably because I was so unfit starting out.

HellesBelles396IsDeeplyUncool Thu 25-Jul-13 20:04:39

I did not shred today blush. I knew I would feel good if I did but I didn't for no better reason than I couldn't be bothered. I suspect tomorrow will be more exhausting as a result.

IWillDoItInAMinute Thu 25-Jul-13 20:57:53

Thanks for the encouragementsmile

Great idea Grimma I'll take a look now.

Don't worry Helles try and get back to it tomorrow, a rest day is fine -but not a rest week like I did the first time I Shredded- grin

IKWYM Noel I found Level 1 really hard going, but it probably had something to do with it being the first real exercise I had -ever- done in a long time

GrimmaTheNome Fri 26-Jul-13 10:42:33

Day 28 done! And 60.5 kg this morning - 9.5 stone smile. I'm slightly amazed by that as - apart from the 2 fast days - I thought I'd eaten loads this week. I was about 4kg heavier before I started the 5:2 so that's a good half stone in all.

DD was reading in the garden when I finished, she kindly offered to hose me down. I was quite tempted but the window cleaner showed up so I thought I'd better act vaguely my age.grin

GrimmaTheNome Fri 26-Jul-13 10:44:33

Oh, meant to say, I found L1 esp the first 4-5 days much the hardest. I think I will go back to it next week, maybe with the slightly heavier weights.

I borrowed one of DHs ten-pounders for the 'dumbbell clean' today <brag>

NoelHeadbands Fri 26-Jul-13 11:55:20

Amazing job Grimma (channeling Jillian there) well done !

Day 27 here for me

GrimmaTheNome Fri 26-Jul-13 12:01:58

You'll probably catch up or overtake me this weekend - never have time on Saturday and on Sunday we're taking DD off to an activity camp in the Malverns (hopefully DH, dog and I will have a walk there too, its lovely)

NoelHeadbands Fri 26-Jul-13 13:21:00

Sounds lovely, enjoy.

Definitely taking a rest day tomorrow as its a friends hen do, may manage D28 on Sunday, may not

HellesBelles396IsDeeplyUncool Fri 26-Jul-13 19:28:30

Shredded today so feeling much better after not doing it yesterday. The anterior raises continue to be ... problematic as do the jumps for the skipping. Otherwise, everything is getting easier. I'm even getting through the many many many sets of jumping jacks!

L1D5 is the charm grin

IWillDoItInAMinute Fri 26-Jul-13 20:09:37

L3D1 done - yes, um it is jumpy. DD caught me 2 minutes after finishing and told me I was red in the face, yes DD I was and also completely knackered!!

travelling push-ups ?????????? I just don't know what to say!

Grimma well done on the scales - fab news for you, encouraging for us !

I don't know how you've done it Noel and Grimma [awe emoticon]

Well done Helles for getting back on it

Have a lovely weekend everyone

NoelHeadbands Fri 26-Jul-13 21:15:42

Sooooo jumpy grin

Actually my most hated is the Supermans- I look like a fish out of water, literally grin

Well done Helles and IWill and have a great weekend everyone!

GrimmaTheNome Fri 26-Jul-13 22:54:08

> don't know how you've done it
one day at a time!

As I can't do push ups properly I certainly can't do travelling pushups - I just carry on attempting to do ordinary ones. I don't find the various plank things too bad though.

I just calculated my BMI...if I can manage another kilo I'll be officially Not Overweight for the first time in a while.grin

MrsBertMacklin Sat 27-Jul-13 00:04:45

I haven't shredded for a week. Don't look at me.

HellesBelles396IsDeeplyUncool Sat 27-Jul-13 09:25:43

L1D6 done. Definitely getting less argh!

Weird abs situation though. My muscles are toning faster than I'm losing fat so my previiusly saggy belly is now standing proud and I look even fatter than I did!

Somewhat dispiriting but I'm quite used to avoiding mirrors wink

Taking a lot of solace from being able to do each exercise better with less groaning and resting.

NoelHeadbands Sat 27-Jul-13 10:02:32

<Hi fives Helles> I have a pretty impressive set of abs underneath my belly flab too.

Ah MrsB. I was going to put a shout out for you, but decided against grin

NoelHeadbands Sat 27-Jul-13 10:04:00

Forgot to say, D28 just done. Now I'm off out to drink cocktails and carbs, guilt free

Have a good day all

IWillDoItInAMinute Sat 27-Jul-13 11:38:10

L3D2 done

I really didn't feel it today, only did Anita's, didn't even look at Natalie. When it got to rock star jumps I felt like ramming the DVD up Jill's ***

I think it's the shadow boxing with weights, it's making me very aggressive grin

I hope there is some Ab action going on under the -thick- layer of fat.

Anyone following the shred diet plan? I'm not -or any other diet as too greedy-

Oh the shame MrsB, give me 10 military presses grin. I had about a week off in the beginning due to back strain. I picked it up again and now I'm on -scary- level 3!!

Illustrated Sun 28-Jul-13 16:02:33

Argh its going to take some serious motivation to do this today. I had a rest day yesterday and then went on the first real night out I've been on in 2 years. I feel like death warmed up...I'm going to have to do it aren't I.

IWillDoItInAMinute Sun 28-Jul-13 16:59:55

HellesBelles396IsDeeplyUncool Sun 28-Jul-13 18:32:25

I took an impromptu rest day today as I was at a party last night and feel like death warmed up as a result. Back on the shred tomorrow though.

PessimisticMissPiggy Sun 28-Jul-13 21:42:10

I'm back. Been feeling rough, rough, rough this week but tonight I'd been inspired by Fighting Fat on Living TV.

L3 here I come! Who's volunteering to start the August thread?

lifesgreatquestions Sun 28-Jul-13 22:18:42

Just placing myself on this thread so I can fund you all August 1st, 30 day shred sounds terrifying but needs must. I don't own scales but with most of my wardrobe unavailable to me and my thighsrubbing horribly in this heat I have given in and bought the damn DVD. Can anyone tell me how long the workouts take? I'm wondering if I can so this in the morning as I think it will be better for me to just get it over with!

HellesBelles396IsDeeplyUncool Sun 28-Jul-13 22:21:46

20 mins and it is a good option for a morning as it is intense and gets the heart pumping.

Inkspellme Sun 28-Jul-13 23:02:26

Just ordered the DVD. I've lost a stone so far using the my fittness pal ap on my phone but I would like to lose another stone. More than the weight the idea of being fit is great. So hopefully this will have a thread for August as well?

GrimmaTheNome Mon 29-Jul-13 08:51:38

Day 29 done! I had to get up early to take DH to the station, and I'd not slept well for a couple of nights so really didn't want to... but darned if I'm going to let Noel get to day 30 ahead of me wink. And of course I do feel better for it.

Welcome back MissP, glad you're feeling up to starting again. And hello to those of you getting geared up for August. Yes, it really is just 20 mins (plus shower time), and I find doing it first thing much the best if you can fit it into your day. I found the dreaded thigh rub got better really quickly - L1 works your upper legs hard!

I'm a bit disappointed that I still can't do push-ups but.... I had a go at windsurfing on Saturday for the first time this year, and could use the size sail I'd got up to last year and found it easier to lift - its still only a little one, way smaller than what my DD who does it every week is on now! but still, I'm really pleased by that.

And yesterday, wearing my walking trousers for the first time since the hot weather started, DH asked if they were different ones as they used to look tight on my bum but now looked quite loose! grin

NoelHeadbands Mon 29-Jul-13 10:05:22

Haha Grimma there was no way I was going to get ahead of you this weekend grin. I did manage to do D28 on Saturday morning, but yesterday was well and truly REST DAY!

Will be doing my Day 29 this evening

lifesgreatquestions Mon 29-Jul-13 11:23:32

20 minutes sounds very doable, it's probably 30 minutes by the time I get dressed and get the tv working.

I just realised though that I opted for free delivery of the DVD so I'm looking at August 2-5th before I can start.

This is a massive decision for me. The weight I've gained is over the course of two pgs/mc's over the last 18 months. I was going to stay big so I could hide another pg until I felt safe about it's survival, but it's been 8 months now since my last pg and my self esteem about my body is at an all time low. I'm really hoping to be in a better place after this.

My diet is reasonable, not too much crap but could be better, i.e. by going wheat free, etc., anyone felt the benefits of the 30 day shred without dieting as well? (please lots of people say yes!)

NoelHeadbands Mon 29-Jul-13 11:43:40

Hi lifes and welcome. Sorry to hear of your m/c's, you sound like you've had a really tough time of it.

I follow a low carb way of eating myself, since starting the Shred I've lost about 4lbs which doesn't sound much, but I've definitely built muscle mass as well. My clothes fit better now!

Headred Mon 29-Jul-13 12:19:51

After sitting on the shelf for 8 months this morning I finally started the 30 day shred. I actually found it quite difficult. I only had tins for arm weights blush do I need to go out and buy proper weights and if so what weight do ypu suggest?

Thank you

iWillDoItInAMinute Mon 29-Jul-13 13:43:54

Not shredded yet as its all rain and storms here, can't even banish the DC to the garden.

Welcome new people!!! 2lb weights are good (unless you are a badass like Grimma)

Welcome back MissP glad you're feeling better smile Did you notice how everyone is avoiding your question re August thread? I'm not very good at threads and links etc -and too lazy to try-, if someone else wants to start it, I'll maintain it -yes I'm looking at you Noel and Grimma-

I think I'm going to start again when L3 is done -if I survive it- we've decided to go away in August, lots of swimming, I need my thighs to shrink before then [hopeful emoticon]

Oh the bloody weather sad

iWillDoItInAMinute Mon 29-Jul-13 13:54:29

Oh and re diets and weight loss.

I haven't been following a diet plan, just shredding. I have lost a few pounds but I'm more excited about the inches, my waist/hips/bum are definitely smaller. Yay!!!

When L3 is complete I'm going to take my measurements and see if another go will continue the shrinkage.

But my thighs, they seem to be resisting everything!!!

GrimmaTheNome Mon 29-Jul-13 14:32:31

I have never in all my 52 years been called a badass before.

Probably ideally you'd get a set of weights starting at about 1kg/2lb and going up - the 5lbs are too much for some of the moves for me but just right for others. I'm sure its best to start at the lower end so you're doing the moves with good form.

Headred Mon 29-Jul-13 15:06:19

My tin of lentils felt too much to be honest smile. Thanks for your advise I will pick some up

NoelHeadbands Mon 29-Jul-13 15:25:48

2lbers I use, no intention of moving up anytime soon blush grin

Okay, if no one else has already done it, I'll start an August thread for Thu smile

iWillDoItInAMinute Mon 29-Jul-13 16:05:37

"I borrowed one of DHs ten-pounders for the 'dumbbell clean' today <brag>"

Cheers Noel, probably not going to make it without you lot!!

iWillDoItInAMinute Mon 29-Jul-13 22:05:29

Noel and Grimma I hope your abs appear after tomorrow grin

GrimmaTheNome Mon 29-Jul-13 22:43:46

That would be nice, but I can feel that I've actually got some now, so don't mind if they're a bit shy about making an appearance!grin

NoelHeadbands Tue 30-Jul-13 06:28:08

Morning all <waves>

I'll be doing my D30 later tonight woohoo! Can't believe I've made it tbh grin Let us know how it feels Grimma if you do it before me

IWill the abs are under there somewhere but I'm not going to be flashing my six pack at the beach this August, that's for sure!

Have a good day all

OverAndAbove Tue 30-Jul-13 06:56:05

I've done L2 days 8 and 9 over the last two days. I'm so hot I've had to put a towel on the sofa to drink my tea on.

Legs and shoulders looking good. Belly, not so much. Note to self - stop drinking wine!

Headred Tue 30-Jul-13 07:51:11

Day 2 - ouch that hurt. Please tell me it will be worth it

GrimmaTheNome Tue 30-Jul-13 08:23:15

Just trying to wake myself up enough to get on with it.

Headred - yes, it does hurt esp for the first 4 days or so but I think it really is worth it if you can stick with it. I reckon its one of the best fivers I've spent. smile

iWillDoItInAMinute Tue 30-Jul-13 08:50:57

Good luck Grimma !!!!!!

Will it be all Natalie for the finale?? -Apart from travelling push-ups as they are just wrong-

GrimmaTheNome Tue 30-Jul-13 10:07:05

Day 30 DONE !

A mix of Natalie and Anita - as well as the push-ups, the one in the first set where you're in a plank on your elbows I simply can't do full stretch (I do one arm then topple over) though its quite easy done on the knees.

NoelHeadbands Tue 30-Jul-13 10:37:48

Well Done Grimma!

iWillDoItInAMinute Tue 30-Jul-13 10:44:44

Congratulations Grimma !!!!! flowers

I have made you a trophy out of play dough (and a book worm)

Could you give us an inch/weight loss recap and maybe some thoughts on which areas have seen the most improvement? Plus details of diet, I think it's 5:2?? -I feel like I should have a microphone shoved up your nose- grin

Three cheers for our fab Grimma !!!!

iWillDoItInAMinute Tue 30-Jul-13 10:46:56

Noel please note I'm coming for you next smile

GrimmaTheNome Tue 30-Jul-13 10:53:11

I didn't measure myself at the start - wish I had! Weight about half a stone. As previously mentioned, trousers loose and able to walk in shorts without thigh loss. And generally stronger!

5:2 - there's loads about it (there's a 5:2 + shred thread going) but basically its 500 cals Mon and Thur , then eat normally the rest of the time. And I've just had a little rumble to remind me that I had a couple of cups of tea pre-shred, and lots of water but I've not had breakfast yet.

Day 30 done!

Anita most of the way though- push ups are beyond me still; I'm in real danger of a broken nose every time I attempt them.

Back to L1D1 tomorrow- you're not so far off finishing yourself now iWill smile

Well done everyone

iWillDoItInAMinute Tue 30-Jul-13 21:02:06

Congratulations Noel that's fantastic !!!!

No playdough trophy for you I'm afraid -as the DC are in bed and its frowned upon if I play with it when they are not -

But I will raise -and drink- a beer in your honour grin

Yes not long now, I was contemplating starting L1 on August 1st, but I think I'll do my -torture- 6 more L3 days

I hope you're very proud !!!

GrimmaTheNome Tue 30-Jul-13 21:28:40

August thread Here

GrimmaTheNome Wed 31-Jul-13 08:54:26

Even though its still July, I've gone over to the August thread to start my second time around. See you all over there. smile

MrsBertMacklin Wed 31-Jul-13 11:03:07

Morning. I am grimly determined to start Shredding again today, have just vacuumed the carpet in preparation for having my face on the ground, just letting my coffee settle in my stomach then I'll be doing it. Will pop over to the August thread to update and then can pretend that I've been keeping up all along blush

WELL DONE to everyone who's kept on track and it's really encouraging to see that you're getting positive results.

iWillDoItInAMinute Wed 31-Jul-13 12:47:37

Good thinking MrsB I suffered a hairy back incident so I now regularly vacuum the rug before I start grin

iWillDoItInAMinute Wed 31-Jul-13 19:13:05

L3D5 done - last post on July thread for me

Hope to see you all on the August one !!!!
