I became I follower of The Shred in June. My reasons are below. Share yours and let's shred together! I lost 5lbs my first week combining the DVD with WW.

I'm a size 16-18, 13st5lbs, 5'8", flabby, wobbly, unfit and desperate to shift the back fat that's making my new correctly sized bra lumpy.

I want my toddler to stop burying her face in my fat belly and blowing raspberries that make my boobs jiggle.

I want my DH to comment my nice arse again.

I want my double chin to melt away.

I want to walk up 5 flights of stairs without lactic acid burning my thighs and being out of breath.

I'm not going to stop until I'm size 12, under 11st and feel like I love my body again. I've hated my body for the last 13 years and I want to look in the mirror and feel good.

Shred is phase one. If I have to do all of Jillian's programmes then so be it.

Marking my place to have a muse about this. I've started Shred loads and always see a difference really quickly, but have never stuck with it past a couple of weeks.

Count me in - I've been off the shred wagon since February.
It really does work and you see physical changes im your body after about 10 days which really keeps you motivated. I'm going to be combining with 5:2

I'll join you, I need as many Shred buddies as possible to stay motivated until an exercise habit forms (which apparently takes 3 months).

My reasons: I am too ashamed to go to a gym until I get at least a basic level of fitness; I need to work in private at improving this. My disgust at my appearance has been affecting my confidence for too many years and I'm tired of living a life half-lived because of it.

PS combining with 2 other fitness DVDs (Davina with the sound muted and Rosemary Conley) and a 30 minute interval run in the park twice a week).

I'm using My Fitness Pal to calorie count; not on 5:2, I get way too angry if I don't eat regularly!

Me please! I'm 5'6" and 9st12lb. I've put on a stone in the last year and I turn 30 this month. I HATE the way I look naked, but logically I know I'm not massively overweight, just really untoned.

I've started C25K twice this year and had knee injuries both times, so I'm hoping this along with swimming might do the trick... Will be trying to cut down on carbs, alcohol and treats too.

After it's on youtube, that's what I'm using.
Just done day two, still stiff from yesterday.

My reasons:
I'm fed up of feeling flabby. I'm doing 5:2 (a bit half heartedly) and I'd like to add some exercise in as well.
I have TERRIBLE bingo wings and live in a hot country and they're on show a lot.
I have no strength or stamina
I'd like to do some exercise for health reasons, I'm way too sedentary.

I'm in a very similar position to MissPiggy only about a stone heavier blush and have been combining the shred with MFP and c25k. My eating habits really need to change to make a real difference. I've not lost any substantial weight yet because I have still been eating like a pig but my clothes fit better and my body feels different and at least I am doing some exercise!

I have been chronically ill this year and not been able to exercise. Will be alone with the kids next month so need something fast and that I can do at home. I feel horrible in my body just now, so unfit and have put on half a stone which looks awful as I so short.

I started it a couple of months ago and didn't keep it up. In the last six weeks I've put on twelve pounds of the 3.5 stone I've lost so I'm feeling v v cross with myself. I'm with you. In fact I'm going to drink my cup of tea, throw my gear on and do it. Right now.

I've never done shred but have just been reading the reviews on Amazon - it looks amazing! I've been doing WW for about three months and have lost two stone. I've got one more to go but am finding my weight loss has really slowed down so maybe this will help. Do you need to buy weights to go with it? Also (stupid question probably) but do you do excercise videos at home in trainers or with bare feet?

Good it stands for Couch to 5k. It's a 9 week programme to get you from doing basically no exercise to running for half an hour at a time. You run 3x per week so I do Jillian the days in-between and have 1 day off.

Well done chub I originally intended to get up and do it in the mornings before work, but my DD is not sleeping very well and I'm too tired. I do it whilst DH is putting her down in the evenings. Then have a lovely shower afterwards - bonus being I can just roll out of bed in the morning!

Trazzle sounds like when you add in a diet you'll lose effectively because you're in the zone already!

Moving across from the June thread.
I have a week to go until I go on (extended, as currently on mat leave) holidays in my home country. I have a fair bit of weight left to lose from my second pregnancy (DD2 is 4 months old) and I am generally quite unfit. I have done levels 1 and 2 and should moving on to level 3, but today I woke up with a nasty cold sad.
I had never exercised with a DVD before (I used to do the occasional gym class to justify my membership) and I am amazed by how quick and easy (ok - not always!) it is to slot exercise into one's day.
I also do it with bare feet and I have now also bought some light weights (I was previously using baked beans tins!).
The challenge for me will be keeping it up once I am away as I will have no DVD player or wifi available.

Ithink mind your knees when Shredding, mine really hurt which is why I stopped after 5 days -and because I'm lazy-

Good luck everyone, I'm a year on. I've lost 2 stone and gone from a 14 to 8/10. I have a six pack, biceps and I am strong. I wish someone had told me 10 years ago what could be achieved from 20 minutes 4 or 5 times a week.

I'm in! No idea how much I weigh, but I'm 5' 5" and around a size 14 atm and just get utterly breathless at the tiniest amount of exercise. I want to be able to run around with DD (20mo) without wheezing! (Probably cutting back on beer would help too hmm ) I actually bought the DVD and some funnels about a month ago but they've just been gathering dust in that time!

Stupid question: is it worth watching the thing through first before doing it, or should I just throw myself into it?

I don't want to lose weight but I need to tone up - my middle is all squidgy and all my clothes are tighter than I'd like!

I keep doing 3 days then being too busy and then leaving it a week. Saw pics on fb of a girl I went to school with looking amazing in a bikini on hols, she's got 2 kids.

DC2 highly unlikely now for me, so I need to stop thinking its not worth getting my waistline back if I might fall pg, and just get on with it!

DD calls the Shred "the bouncy DVD" grin

I lost a stone before Christmas through low carbing but the carbs found me and I've put 8lbs back on.

I was thinking she looked like Kirsty Alley but LH more like it.

I did my day 7 yesterday (had Saturday off). Stats? 5'1", 62.7 kg (sorry, DH likes the scale set metric).. shite, that's nearly 10st. I'm 52 and though I could do with shifting some weight the main thing I want out of this is more strength ... my 14 yr old DD is stronger than me and is taking the piss out of me esp if we're doing watersports. I can feel a bit more muscle already smile

I'm using 5lb weights - they're fine for some of the moves but a bit big for others - I can do the moves but might need a couple of short pauses.

Someone was asking about shoes - I started barefoot but then tried with trainers on - find that I can do the lunges better with shoes on and doesn't make any difference to anything else.

At the end of the June thread, someone said 'Those of you who can't do press ups, have you had your press ups checked out by somebody who can see where you're going wrong?

- because quite a lot of us find press-ups impossible. I don't have anyone who could tell me (well, I expect DH would find something to say and DD would laugh, but I'm not sure they could give good advice on form!). So I've a question - does anyone know of a youtube or suchlike which describes in detail how to do press-ups for people - in particular women - who can't?

I use two large tins of beans - that's only 0.5 Kg though and I suspect Jillian is using heavier ones. Anything is better than nothing though

Fatty, I started off with tins (roughly 1 pound) and have now moved on to 2 pound weights. To be honest, exercises that focus mostly on the arms seem a bit easy and I should probably be using heavier weights. The set sounds like a good idea.

Um...that's how to do a push-up for people who are physically capable of doing a push up! grin I can do wall push ups ok - not sure how to move down to lower angle though - and just about starting to be able to do one with knees on floor (though not entirely sure if I'm keeping my back straight).

I'm giving Monday and Tuesdays a miss as I do a crossfit class on a Tuesday morning which is really hard going, but will be trying to do the shred Wednesday to Sunday. I want to feel confident enough to wear a swimsuit on my holiday in August, fingers crossed!

It's my tummy that's the problem too, I've been doing cross fit for 6 months now, my legs, arms and overall fitness have improved but my tummy bulge and love handles just will not budge! Very interested to see if the shred has any effect. I don't really need to lose weight, I'm what's known as a skinny fat, quite small but not at all firm.

I'm 5 ft 3, 9 st 2 and have a horrible flabby tummy after 2 DCs (and waaaay too much beer, cheese and chocolate over the last 6 months). I want to tone up and get my jeans fitting again. I am determined to do this! Will hopefully fit it in around two kids home for the summer holidays hmm

yeah, at day 10 I can just about do one set of 'knee' press-ups - with the help of the links I gave below. I think the press-ups are a bit of a misjudgement for level 1 TBH - though then again I suppose if you're bloody minded determined then you'll find ways to do them.

My bloody back is killing me!!! Have been swanning around thinking how brilliant it is not having the sorest knees in the world this time and woke up in pain. So I'm using today as a rest day, want to be back on it tomorrow. Not sure if the backs caused by bad floor work technique? Anyone else had it?

For those with bad knees, the last time I did it my knees were killing me. Not this time though, not sure why...confused

Trying to do press-ups was (among other things) causing me a bit of a back twinge - the wall ones avoid this, knee ones reduce it. Were you doing full ones? Anyway, whereas muscular pain can be worked through, joint and especially backs def need more care. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

Count me in! I started doing the Shred seriously following a late-ish miscarriage, as soon as I had the all-clear from my GP. I was depressed that my now not-pregnant body still looked pregnant and really wanted to blast back into my own self again. I couldn't handle wearing maternity clothes any more.

I can honestly say it's done wonders. After a bit of Shredding I had the confidence to sign up to a circuits class, which I wouldn't have believed a few months back - Jillian is very good on form and it's paid dividends when running about with competitive males grin. My running has improved and the weight has really come off.
(I'm 5'2", was 137lb and now 125lb, aiming for 121 if I can which is pre-DD weight)

Now aiming to get to Level 3 and get up to 8k running. The only down side is that I'm now ravenously hungry all the time.

I started Level 1 barefoot but found the double-jump-rope too hard on my feet without trainers, so for me the trainers definitely help. I use 2.5lb weights which are on the light side, but about all I can manage for the shoulder presses. Can't do the plank-jacks without whimpering though - does anyone else find these horrendously difficult or is it just me?

Plank jacks are ok though I'm always glad to finish them but for me it's the high knees and squat thrust combo that has me whimpering. I think part of the problem may be that I'm barefoot and sliding the squat thrusts on the carpet.
Yesterday I just did it in my bra and pants as no one else was up yet but the sight of my tummy during the plank jacks is still haunting me!!

Day 11 - first day of level 2. Not too bad (but I said that on day 1 of level 1 before my muscles turned to lead!). Except for the military presses where 5lb is a bit too much for me and I got a bit confused on some of the moves so didn't really quite do it all.

Definitely need to wear trainers for this I think - my toes wouldn't stand up to the plank positions otherwise.

Goodtobetter plank jacks are a unique form of torture which means your legs do the jumping jack move while your arms hold the rest of you in plank position.
There is a 'stepping' option which I can manage, but end up collapsing if I try to do the 'jumping' option. Squat thrusts are a killer too.. I don't think I'm very good at plank things!

Have been told by 3 different people that I look like I've lost weight so am very pleased so far.

Day 4/5 we're the worst for me so far.

I'm due to do Day 3 tomorrow.

I read something interesting on the Amazon reviews today. One of the reviews said that they found level 1 boring and someone suggested that she switched between levels, rather than doing level 1 steadily before progressing to L2, etc.

Feedback was that this works, you just do modified versions of the other levels until you are ready to increase the impact levels. Reviewers also said that this helps because you can work out more continuously, because you're not exercising the exact same muscles every day.

Anyone tried this? I'm on L1 but thinking of giving L2 a go tomorrow to see what happens.

Mrs B, that sounds like quite a good idea to me. Although having gone onto level 2 I don't particularly want to do level 1 again for a while!

I don't think level 3 is significantly harder than level 2. It may sound worse but by the time you get there it's manageable. You have to do jumping jacks holding your weights...

Morning! I got up early especially to complete L1 Day 3, as I wanted to get it done before the humidity levels get too crazy. All done.

The punching squats and bicycle crunches are still killing me and I am still struggling to do reverse crunches; with the latter, I'm finding it tricky to tell if I'm doing this properly.

Everything else was a lot easier today though; only stopped once and drunk 200ml of water, not a whole litre like Day 1 smile

Oh and I've done a cheeky midweek weigh-in (my weigh day is Weds) - 2 frigging pounds lost since Wednesday!

I missed yesterday (no excuse except it was hot and I was exhausted) so did level 2 today as a penance.

It was easier on my sore calves actually so will go back to level 1 but replace the butt kicks with something from level 2 iyswim, the rest of it was really tough.....

I'm struggling to see any difference in my torso or legs but arms are getting toned.

I had Saturday off - no time - I had to get DD to her kids' sailing club in the morning, then she windsurfs in the afternoon and I did some sailing . I think my wetsuit went on over my legs a bit easier and I carried her board down singlehanded without having to rest. Then we had a quick turnaround to go to the walkabout theatre in Lancaster park. So not a couch potato rest day!

Day 13 on sunday, ok but I really can't do the military presses while standing on one leg. So I did it without weights and then did a couple of sets with weights but standing still afterwards

And then we went for a lovely picnic and walk not so much by a stream as in it...great till the end when my foot slipped and I rammed my big toe into a rock. I'll spare you the details. And then it turned out DH had lost the car key somewhere and I'd left the spare in the car - he and DD retraced the route but no joy. We were miles from anywhere, the RAC took 3 hours to turn up but then broke into the car for us in about 5 minutes.

So...£150 to replace the key and until the toenail falls off completely its limiting what I can do. I've just done day 14 but I couldn't do some of the moves so improvised or did something different. I think I may have to go back to level 1 as that doesn't require being on your toes nearly so much.

I don't know about anyone else but I am suffering in the heat in a way I haven't since being 8 months pregnant. My thighs rub together, I have beads of sweat running down my back and cleavage TMI, sorry.

I have about 21lbs to shred. I would be at my pre-pregnancy weight then. Realistically I'd be happy with 14lbs. Then I would weigh the same as I did the last time I wore a dress in public!! Where does the time go??

I've just done level 2 for about the 4th time, I'm doing the shred 3-4 days/week and finding it ok but am despondent that I can't really see a difference and since I started doing it just in my bra and pants I can look down at my belly hanging while my thighs slap together during the plank jacks - it's really not making me feel great about myself! Plus I seem to be unable to get my weight down - pissed off all round, sorry for moaning!!

Morning. I really struggled yesterday and didn't complete Day 5. I got two thirds of the way through Circuit 1 and still wasn't feeling warmed up or getting into it, so I turned it off and treated yesterday as a rest day.

My weigh-in today - no weight lost or gained. Not surprising, as I went off-piste on the diet front at the weekend, so this wiped out the 2 pound loss I had earlier in the week.

Going to do Day 5 today in the evening.

Day 16 - I managed level 2 barefoot with the toe well plastered up, had to do the Anita moves for the plank jacks and - forget the name of the other thing, the bunny hop one to avoid landing awkwardly. Need to go and do some military presses to make up for the ones I can't do standing on one leg.

I really find the jump rope hard (definitely not doing double!) - I can do about 10 jumps and then have to rest a moment, my legs just won't do that.

I'm staying off the scales till Friday - I'm doing 5:2, tomorrow is a fast day. I'm done with stressing about weight though, I'm doing this because both the 5:2 and the workouts are making me feel healthier (once I was over the dead legs in the first 4 days).

BTW, that reminds me, I find I can do a much better quad stretch at the end if I put the spare hand on the arm of the sofa for balance - I'd already figured this out, Jillian could have done with mentioning this in level 1 rather than waiting till level 2.

Well I've done it. After many (far too many) months of procrastination, I have finally lost my Shred cherry grin

It wasn't a pretty sight. There were things flapping about all over the place that I'm sure are not meant to flap. The warm up just about killed me off to be honest but I carried on. I discovered I'm not very good at jumping jacks (can't seem to get the co-ordination right) And as for bicycle crunches, well I'm not even going to go there.

But I did make it to the end. And I sweated for at least an hour afterwards. And with 6 weeks to go before this flappy body needs to be made public I am determined I will carry on (though not over this weekend cos I'm on a hen weekend).

So bring on L1D2 - I'm ready for you!!

I did the stupid thing of googling b4 and after shots of 30day shred. Lots of braver women than me posting pics grin

Not so hot today so was a bit better. I don't want to be a 'cheerleader' but I noticed most people are feeling a bit down/disappointed. You are all doing brilliantly I'm sure -I hope- our wobbly bits are shrinking! Don't forget you might weigh the same but you've probably got more muscle/less fat.

Our great British summer is almost over, when the weather returns to normal the exercise will be easier!

Come on lovely ladies, if Andy Murray can win, so can WE!!

I've just completed L1D5, too - except I thought I'd give L2 a try. Plank moves I think aren't too gruelling, I think they're just hard because they make you move in a way that you aren't used to? I lost balance 5 times & during circuit 3, had to do a modified version of the jack planks, because my hands were so sweaty they kept slipping away from me.

I was the sweatiest I've ever been after exercise when I was finished & calves, quads, shoulders and arms are aching; good.

I had a baby 11 months ago and although I'm back to my pre pregnancy weight my body is certainly not what I'd like it to be. I'm 8 and a half stone and would like to tone up my stomach and lose the fat on my hips, thighs and bum.

I started yesterday but I'm going to need a lot of motivation as I'm already completely tired out from my dd. I'm not aching as much as I thought I'd be. I originally started the shred before I got pregnant and I remember being in a lot of pain on day 2, I'm not sure why I'm not now!

TBH I didn't feel too bad till days 3 and 4, but it did get better after that. Take note of advice below to support yourself for the quad stretch at the end so you can do it really well, that might help a bit.

L1D7 done, I was going to try level 2 yesterday -as jealous with all the progress and talk of plank jacks- but on YouTube it said I had to rent it confused
So I decided I should buy the DVD, it is time.

You can just walk out to plank position and hold instead of the full 'walking pushup'. I'm doing something between at the moment - walking out and then doing a slight dip, nowhere near the full push-up.

Hi everyone, L1D6 completed this morning. My face didn't go red!

Having a go at Level 2 the day before helped, as I swapped out some of the cardio and abs with moves from L2 to make it more interesting, e.g. swapped a set of jumping jacks for oblique twists, reverse crunches for double crunches.

Noel when you do the plank/burpee thing in L2, are you careful about your technique or do you just throw yourself up and down and make the best of it? It takes me ages just to get up and down, so I'm not worrying too much about getting my arms in the right place, as I'm worried about keeping up with the DVD.

If so... I make a bit of a hash of it I guess.. I walk it out as straight legged as I can, then I fanny around trying to spread my arms out (because she mentions later on that the plank pose is different to the push up pose). Then I kind of 'dip' a bit- a proper press up is still beyond me. Then finally, I scramble back up.

And then they've done two to my one.

I'm only on L1D6 and my calves have shaped up incredibly. I do like the jumpy moves though, so much fun. I haven't noticed any physical difference elsewhere yet, but yesterday's workout didn't kill me as much - apart from bloody reverse crunches - I just can't do them!

Photo is a good idea, as is meassuring your waist, arms, thighs etc. every fortnight. Given that we should be putting muscle on, this will be a better indicator of progress than weight loss.

L1D4 done for me. It does seem to be getting a little easier though it was tough last night when it was so hot! Thankful the muscle aches the day after have started to ease a little too. I no longer feel as if my arms are going to fall off!
I've not done any measurements at the beginning but I did take some before pics (just hope no one else finds them on my phone)

Day 19, L2 done.

I didn't do any over the weekend - intentionally on Saturday, spent all day watching DD sail/windsurf - too hot to contemplate donning my full wetsuit to do any myself, and they don't really like people sailing singlehanders or windsurfing without ... must get a shortie.

Yesterday we got up early and took the inflatable canoe to Coniston, which was great - but after packing up ready to go at about 3pm we found that we were boxed into the car park and were stuck till after 4:30 when other people started to leave and there was room to manoeuvre out. Following last week's car key debacle, we're wondering what we will do next sunday to get inadvertently stuck for a few hours somewhere pleasant. Anyway, by the time we'd got home and I'd sorted the gear and food there just wasn't time but at least I'd done some good paddling.

Disastrous attempt for me today.
Really didn't want to start. Have had a a hectic day at work then came home, sorted the kids, baked and decorated 40 buns for DS's pirate party at school tomorrow, made packed lunches and ironed fresh uniform for tomorrow.
Gave myself a good talking to and got started. But didn't finish blush Got half way through and realised I just don't have it in me tonight.
And it's so bloody hot in here!!!

Anyway, have given myself another talking to and the plan is to set my alarm for 6 in the morning and get up before the kids and the heat and do it then. Well, that's the plan. Wish me luck!

Illustrated - well done! Good idea about the music, though I don't have any 'workout' music ... TBH I wish the audio options had an instructions only, no music option. I find if I'm doing one of the planky things I'm not looking at the screen so need the voice to tell me when to stop. I just have the volume really low.

Illustrated, sounds like you might be building up new muscle too quickly on your lats: are you giving yourself rest days? The 'windmill' move in the Level 1 warmup should be stretching your lats before you start exercising, but I know in level 1, there's not a static cooldown stretch targeting the lats.

Maybe look at YouTube for 'stretch for lat muscles' and see if there's a stretch on there which will help?

Rest day for me today, which my knees and ankles are grateful for. My knees and ankles are feeling the effect of the jump rope, planning on a cool bath with some analgesic aromatherapy oils later today.

I hate doing exercise on a full stomach - its one reason I do it first thing before breakfast, just drink beforehand. (if I try anything like running after eating it tends to give me a stitch).

Digestion takes quite a lot of blood supply, I believe - so if you exercise after eating the food will just be sitting there.

And I'd rather be as light as possible doing the jumping!

Thankyou for this thread, i sat down a 9 last night came across this thread and it inspired me to go straight down stairs and SHRED! DP came home to find me manically star jumping whilst sweating a tsunami and with my dress tucked in my knickers blush but i'm so pleased i've finally started to try and shift the baby weight! only concern is my stomach muscles seperated during prenancy (again) I didn't realise how bad it still was until I did a crunch and had a quick check, not good at all! so i've been having to leave the abs part out... do you think its ok to continue with the rest of it or should i try and see the physio again to make sure...?

Hello, notany , well done - but would be wise to check with a physio, s/he might be able to suggest alternatives. Apart from the actual abs exercises, the push up/plank moves (which figure more in L2/3) are supposed to engage the abs so they might not be the best thing for you yet. Meanwhile why not just do the parts you feel ok with and do extra JJs or something in bits you can't?

can I join in? I started a couple of days ago (now D3L1) and am suffering!

I really need to tone up my wobbly post baby tummy and thighs!

pre-pregnancy I had been running (stopped at 14wks) and horse riding (which I continued with until 38wks). I have been riding once a week for the last 8 weeks but have only managed to get out running a couple of times as DD screamed the house down both times.

I thought the shred may be a good alternative but I am starting to regret it! Somebody please tell me it gets better!

MrsT - I found it got better after day 4 so hang in there - and TBH I didn't find myself suffering again when I went to L2 and L3.

IWill - the leg lowering thing, no, I can't get very low but its one of those things you just do it as far as you can and should gradually improve. I couldn't do the full sit-up on the first day of L3 but could today!!!

Yes, I'm feeling generally fitter and stronger and tighter - not so much wobble! Being a shortarse I often have to get on a chair to reach my top cupboards and its no strain now! smile I find myself wondering why the heck I didn't do something like this years ago - 20 mins a day is worth it if it makes the rest of life easier.

Hello. I have done - or very nearly done thanks to my dad coming round- my first 30 day shred workout. I missed the last strength/core workout.

I was wondering, is this a daily workout? Also, do any of you add extra stretches? The ones on the dvd are sparse.

Because I am fat and arthritic, I swapped to very vigorous marching when the jumping was hurting my knees and feet but, hopefully, as I lose weight, that won't be as much of a problem. Has that been the case for anyone on here?

Should I swap to level 2 when I feel level 1 is jo lonher as much of a challenge - no matyer hos long that takes?

Im always impressed when a different set of muscles start to ache, makes me feel like I've done more grin

Not done D2 yet, but I did run this morning. I'm trying to do C25k as well, but I'm not that far in- about to start Week 3. It's probably a bigger challenge than the Shred for me, I have never been a natural runner. I struggle.

Something very exciting happened this morning. It was cooler so I pulled out a pair of jeans to wear, I pulled out the pair I bought that didn't fit because of my mum -crisps&choc- tum and thunder thighs. I thought I would give them a go. I managed to put them on and do them up!!!! Not comfy enough to wear but they were on !!!!

Hi, just checking in on d5l1. All those who told me it got better were right! Felt much better today and almost thought I could have done something else after!
I think i may use level 1 as a warm up when I get out running again.

Have lost 2kgs this week and 2in from waist, 1/2 inch from hips and just over 1/2 inch from each thigh! All since last Monday! :-)

I've had a ten day heat wave break but am now back on it. Did level 2 days 3,4 and 5 the last three mornings. I just end up a sweaty dripping mess at the end, but I am hoping it will be worth it. I think my legs might be toningup. Belly still very wobbly though. I am so sick of it!

I still can't do press ups properly, even from the knee. I do a bit of a dip and then if I try to go further I end up with my face on the carpet. I really want to be able to, as push-ups are one of the exercises that if you can do them you can do anywhere anytime without kit.

L1D4 done with no stiffness or aching but huge levels of weariness. Feeling good now it's over though smile I am think that I am working harder each day trying to go deeper and wider into the movements but my upper body strength is appalling. Just totally non-existant. Not for much longer though!!

Glad to see some progress in terms of feeling better able to do the exercises. Despite 5:2 for two weeks and now this for 4 days, I haven't lost even half an inch of my waist - that and fat proportion of weight are my key indicators for getting healthier so I'm a little dispirited. Passing a boots today so will nip in and check my fat percentage. Fingers crossed.

My upper body strength is appalling -and lack of coordination-. This morning DS was showing me how strong he is (he's 6) using my weights. Of course by the time I came to shred they had vanished and I had to use heavier ones shock it was painful

I can't do a proper push up either, but I live in hope

I think after day 30 I'll cycle through the different levels for the few days before I go on holiday. Then when I come back, not sure if I'll carry on doing that or try something else - anyone got any recommendations? Arms and abs are what I need most - plus cardio...might try a bit of running if the canal towpath is still dry and if this stupid toenail will allow me to wear trainers by then. Are you planning on anything Noel - you're pretty near the end too.

Bloody hell I don't think I could hack doing more exercise on top of this! You must be very fit.

L2D2 I will be very pleased if I ever manage to do this level without having to take a few seconds break here and there. I cant imagine how hard level 3 is. I was taking some more pictures to compare to when I first started and I am liking my bum for the first time in agers! I feel like strutting around in my pants for the rest of the day now.

While out for tea, I was watching bootcampers doing burpies and sprints. Oh my word! If I struggle with press-ups, how would I ever manage those?!

I actually tried to do C25k last year and couldn't get beyond week 1 as I struggled so badly with it. This time, I did about 10 days of Shredding before I had another bash, and the difference is marked. I still struggle grin but I can feel improvements are being made

If I can (more or less) do it, you can. If you've time, take a quick look through to get an idea of the moves before you start and work out whether to do Anita or Natalie. (the one where you're in a plank with the weights on the floor I actually find N easier than A, oddly).

Day 28 done! And 60.5 kg this morning - 9.5 stone smile. I'm slightly amazed by that as - apart from the 2 fast days - I thought I'd eaten loads this week. I was about 4kg heavier before I started the 5:2 so that's a good half stone in all.

DD was reading in the garden when I finished, she kindly offered to hose me down. I was quite tempted but the window cleaner showed up so I thought I'd better act vaguely my age.grin

Day 29 done! I had to get up early to take DH to the station, and I'd not slept well for a couple of nights so really didn't want to... but darned if I'm going to let Noel get to day 30 ahead of me wink. And of course I do feel better for it.

Welcome back MissP, glad you're feeling up to starting again. And hello to those of you getting geared up for August. Yes, it really is just 20 mins (plus shower time), and I find doing it first thing much the best if you can fit it into your day. I found the dreaded thigh rub got better really quickly - L1 works your upper legs hard!

I'm a bit disappointed that I still can't do push-ups but.... I had a go at windsurfing on Saturday for the first time this year, and could use the size sail I'd got up to last year and found it easier to lift - its still only a little one, way smaller than what my DD who does it every week is on now! but still, I'm really pleased by that.

And yesterday, wearing my walking trousers for the first time since the hot weather started, DH asked if they were different ones as they used to look tight on my bum but now looked quite loose! grin

20 minutes sounds very doable, it's probably 30 minutes by the time I get dressed and get the tv working.

I just realised though that I opted for free delivery of the DVD so I'm looking at August 2-5th before I can start.

This is a massive decision for me. The weight I've gained is over the course of two pgs/mc's over the last 18 months. I was going to stay big so I could hide another pg until I felt safe about it's survival, but it's been 8 months now since my last pg and my self esteem about my body is at an all time low. I'm really hoping to be in a better place after this.

My diet is reasonable, not too much crap but could be better, i.e. by going wheat free, etc., anyone felt the benefits of the 30 day shred without dieting as well? (please lots of people say yes!)

I follow a low carb way of eating myself, since starting the Shred I've lost about 4lbs which doesn't sound much, but I've definitely built muscle mass as well. My clothes fit better now!

I haven't been following a diet plan, just shredding. I have lost a few pounds but I'm more excited about the inches, my waist/hips/bum are definitely smaller. Yay!!!

When L3 is complete I'm going to take my measurements and see if another go will continue the shrinkage.

But my thighs, they seem to be resisting everything!!!

Probably ideally you'd get a set of weights starting at about 1kg/2lb and going up - the 5lbs are too much for some of the moves for me but just right for others. I'm sure its best to start at the lower end so you're doing the moves with good form.

A mix of Natalie and Anita - as well as the push-ups, the one in the first set where you're in a plank on your elbows I simply can't do full stretch (I do one arm then topple over) though its quite easy done on the knees.

Could you give us an inch/weight loss recap and maybe some thoughts on which areas have seen the most improvement? Plus details of diet, I think it's 5:2?? -I feel like I should have a microphone shoved up your nose- grin

I didn't measure myself at the start - wish I had! Weight about half a stone. As previously mentioned, trousers loose and able to walk in shorts without thigh loss. And generally stronger!

5:2 - there's loads about it (there's a 5:2 + shred thread going) but basically its 500 cals Mon and Thur , then eat normally the rest of the time. And I've just had a little rumble to remind me that I had a couple of cups of tea pre-shred, and lots of water but I've not had breakfast yet.

Morning. I am grimly determined to start Shredding again today, have just vacuumed the carpet in preparation for having my face on the ground, just letting my coffee settle in my stomach then I'll be doing it.
