I managed to get to the last day of level 1 last time, and was doing great but then i lapsed!

I have just restarted today, I am using the video from youtube (just search on 30 day shred level 1!) on my ipad.

I am going to post, mainly as a way to motivate myself and "report in' but any company or morale support appreciated

Just sat in kitchen now with glass of water recovering !

wem Sun 07-Apr-13 21:29:32

I'm in, but with Ripped in 30 instead of Shred. I got quite far with the shred in January but I've stopped and started so many times I'm a bit bored of it now. Ripped is pretty much the exact same thing but with some different moves. I did it for the first time tonight and have barely been able to lift my mug of tea since!

It'll be good to have somewhere to report in - I always get further when I have a shred buddy smile

Standingonlego Sun 07-Apr-13 21:33:08

Hi Wem, thanks for answering - delighted to have a buddy! So until tomorrow...have rewarded myself with a slice of cheesecake blush

wem Mon 08-Apr-13 09:03:38

Ooh, cheesecake smile

Do you have a regular time of day that you're going to do it?

DD2 has dropped her naps since I last did it so I'm going to have to wait til they're in bed, which will be hard when all I want to do is collapse on the sofa. Hopefully once I'm a few days in I'll be bursting with energy and desperate to get going hmm grin

Standingonlego Mon 08-Apr-13 19:19:22

My boys are school age, so after bed at moment as it is the holidays and not a moment free in the day. Need to squeeze in sometime between bed for them, dinner for us and Game of Thrones! DH putting them to bed at moment smile

CajaDeLaMemoria Mon 08-Apr-13 19:25:09

I've been doing 60 minutes on a treadmill every day, but I'm losing motivation. I'm tempted to try this instead...

Does it take long? And do you really see results? I'm easily demotivated if I don't see any good coming of anything blush

Between the footie and Game of Thrones tonight there isn't much time, so I'll have to start tomorrow I think.

wem Mon 08-Apr-13 20:37:04

I'm busy(ish) this evening so I decided to see if I could get my dds interested in 'exercising' along with me this afternoon. DD1 used to love doing shred with me, she had her special exercise clothes and I gave her spice jars as weights grin. Worked for a while but then DD2 attempted various sabotage tactics. Think I mostly managed to do it effectively though.

Caja - the whole thing, warm up and cool down as well, is about 30 mins. I definitely see a difference within a week. It's great! The only problem is it's really not a long term thing, so I do it for a couple of weeks, feel great, but then get bored/fed up of finding the time and drop it. I'm planning on doing it then joining a boot camp or something for the summer.

Standingonlego Mon 08-Apr-13 23:12:40

OK.....it is past 11, I have sat here wasting time since GOT finished when i could be shredding...grrrrr....had wine but still thinking about it - do not want to fall off wagon on day 2!

Standingonlego Mon 08-Apr-13 23:52:26

Mission accomplshed shock. Day 2 level 1 complete!

Caja - i agree wih Mew, I did it for 10 days last time and really saw a difference (DH said he saw definate bottom related results blush). Give it a go! We will be here to encourage you grin

Standingonlego Mon 08-Apr-13 23:53:30

Wem (aka mew blush) - obviously the shredding is affecting my typing

VivaLeBeaver Tue 09-Apr-13 00:13:06

I've just restarted and am on day three.

I won't be going above Lvl one though. Last time I did it Lvl two put me in hospital for a week. It's taken over a year to pluck the courage up to start again.

Standingonlego Tue 09-Apr-13 08:11:15

VTB -great to have you with us....am bit shock about level 2 now though! What on earth happened?

wem Tue 09-Apr-13 08:38:42

Blimey Viva, a week in hospital sounds extreme, was it a particular move?

Well done Standing - I'm very impressed that you cracked on with it even after GoT and wine.

(I quite like Mew as an alternative nn smile )

wem Tue 09-Apr-13 20:17:24

Well, dd2 requested more exercising this afternoon, and had a pretty good go at some of the moves too! So I'm done for the day. Day three - I think it's supposed to not hurt so much from now on, I've been pretty achy the last couple of mornings.

VivaLeBeaver Tue 09-Apr-13 21:04:15

My back just started hurting, like a real pain in one hip/side of lower back. Woke up one morning with it, it got worse, I did shred again. Then couldn't sit or stand. Went to a&e sobbing in pain and spent a week been given morphine hourly.

I'd slipped a disc.

Standingonlego Wed 10-Apr-13 22:53:34

Viva - heck, be careful!!!

I missed yesterday as it was my birthday. Not shredded today either, but have worked hard at the gym so I think that sort of still counts. Back on the "programme" tomorrow!!!!

Mew - well done, another day closer!

JellyBellies Thu 11-Apr-13 09:23:04

Hi I, I have started doing the shred this week!

I have a few questions though, it seems to focus more on arms and less on butt/thigh. Or it might be that I have such huge butts and thighs that it will take much longer to have an effect! blush

I don't really like doing the weights. I have pretty slim arms and would like to keep it that way! My main issue is lower body - butt's and thighs. Can i do it without the weights?

wem Thu 11-Apr-13 10:20:27

Happy birthday Standing smile

I missed yesterday. Taking it as a rest day - not something she mentions in Shred but she does in Ripped so I'm going with it. I'm also going for my first British Military Fitness session in the park this evening so that's my exercise for the day, I hope I survive!

What weights do you have Jelly? Maybe use lighter ones? I have 1kg ones and don't feel like I bulk up when I do it.

Hi, can I join? I really need to start shred again... Started in March and managed to do two weeks before DS had a mega growth spurt and attached himself to my boob for a week...I felt great during those two weeks though, and really need to get in shape, have nearly two stone to lose since having DS and he is nearly six months old... Ugh. Ok will attempt shred today and report backsmile good luck with today everyonesmile

JellyBellies Thu 11-Apr-13 13:07:20

Thanks Wem, I am using 1 kg ones, can do most of it except some bits with them.

Though haven't used them for last 2 days as I cannot find them! blush

TheLightPassenger Thu 11-Apr-13 19:02:43

Jelly, i have wimped out of using the weights and have still got three inches off my waist in six or so weeks. I do the shred a few days a week, other dvds a few days a week, sometimes jillian or davina and more moderate exercise two days week

Standingonlego Fri 12-Apr-13 00:39:13

Hi folks. Thank you for birthday wishes Wem...missed today too as have been at home drinking wine with some lovely ladies blush. How did the Mil Ft thing go? Was the instructor a good motivation wink

Jelly & Freddie - welome! the more the merrier, Jelly weight dohelp with the resistance for lower body as well. I did not bulk up and I am using 2kg ones.

Light - that is brill, i would love to lose 3 inches (to maake up for the birthday cake!)

Serious shredding starts here tomorrow !!!!!

JellyBellies Fri 12-Apr-13 09:09:23

Wow light! That is good. What other dad's do you use, it would be good to change some days I think.

And the weights, DH hid them after DS2 (nearly 2) found them and thought it would be fun to drop one on my toe!! shock

Thing is, he hid them so well, even he doesn't know where they are!!

But we are moving house in the next 3 weeks so I am sure they will turn up!!

TheLightPassenger Fri 12-Apr-13 19:10:06

I use a mixture, some older davina, some pump it up, jillian six week six pack, ten minute solution, and billy blanks taebo. Basically whatever is free on internet or cheap in charity shops. I find rosemary conley too easy now except for the salsasize ones?

TheLightPassenger Fri 12-Apr-13 19:12:04

Ps if you go on youtube, and look at BeFit, Lionsgate fitness, the company who produce jillian michaels dvds have put a lot of free workouts on youtube, which is great as its guilt free

Standingonlego Fri 12-Apr-13 19:22:13

I get my shred workout info via you tube - it is the be fit one - like light says. It is great!

EverSoYoni Fri 12-Apr-13 20:43:26

Well I've got a bad pain in my hip/lower back again so am calling it a day with Shred. Going to up the cycling instead I think.

wem Sat 13-Apr-13 09:55:07

Is that you Viva? Sorry to hear that, probably wise to avoid if it's playing up already.

Well I survived BMF, but I was hurting yesterday - stairs were a problem let alone various lunges, so skipped shred again. Back on it today at some point though!

TheLightPassenger Sat 13-Apr-13 09:56:59

Hope the pain goes quickly, Yoni.

Wem, what sort of stuff did you do at bmf?

VivaLeBeaver Sat 13-Apr-13 12:41:06

Yes, sorry it was me.

Still got the pain, like a shooting pain every step I take which is how it started off last time. Haven't had it for over a year so I'm defineetly blaming Shred and stopping it.

TheLightPassenger Sat 13-Apr-13 13:05:27

Absolutely right to stop it, sounds like walking and swimming will be a lot safer for you, really hope a brief rests sorts it for you

wem Sat 13-Apr-13 13:44:35

That's scary Viva, I hope it eases quickly for you.

TheLightPassenger - a lot of the same moves as shred, just with added cardio. Lots of running to that tree and back again, and some sprint work too. Although I think it can be quite different week to week - someone mentioned tyres?! The main difference is there's someone there shouting at you, rather than Jillian who is susceptible to volume control wink.

Oh, and the damp muddy grass underfoot/hand/bum. I came back fairly soggy and it wasn't even raining. It was good though, all outdoor and fresh air-sy. I've signed up for 6 months anyway so I'll let you know...

wem Sat 13-Apr-13 19:14:35

Popping back in to say I'm done for the day smile Starting to feel a leetle easier.

Standingonlego Sat 13-Apr-13 22:42:18

hello! wem, well done on the mil fit. I di park run today so have a 5km under my belt, and gym yesterday. back o shred tomorrow!

TheLightPassenger Sun 14-Apr-13 10:20:29

Hope you are feeling better this morning viva

Thanks for the info wem about mil fitness think i am too lazy to cope with mud as well as sweat

wem Tue 16-Apr-13 16:04:48

Hello everyone, I have managed to do it today so am checking in smile DH is away and I've had a load of cakes to make the last couple of days, but the dds were back at preschool this morning (woohoo!) so actually had some time to myself. I'm fairly impressed with myself, I started and the even just the warm up was feeling like hard work (that's not the impressive bit, stay with me...) and I very nearly stopped and thought I'd do it this evening instead (which probably wouldn't have happened), but I stuck with it and did it there and then. Small triumphs and all that smile

Manchesterhistorygirl Thu 25-Apr-13 15:38:49

Heloooooo. Is anyone still doing this? Just restarted and determined to get my flabby tummy sorted! Day 2 just done and I'm aching.

DolomitesDonkey Fri 03-May-13 20:45:45

Manchester Just did it today for the first time ever - the weights I used are too heavy for my shoulders (2kg) so that hurt like hell but I'll continue to use them because there's not much point lifting cotton wool buds! wink

It went amazingly quickly and I found it quite easy which I was surprised about as I've only been to the gym twice this month.

ScienceRocks Tue 07-May-13 20:42:48

I've just restarted the Shred. Did 20 out of 30 days at the beginning of the year, so finished level 2 (which I much prefer to level1). I use 2kg weights for most of it, but drop down to 1kg if needed.

I have been doing a fitness boot camp once a week recently, and need something in between (also something that i can vaguely do, i am the worst at boot camp by some margin). Nothing, but nothing, makes me lose weight so I am going for toning and my clothes looking and feeling better.

ScienceRocks Tue 07-May-13 20:44:50

Just want to say that my boot camp is not the scary military one! It's an hour long in a local park, and is blimmin' hard but nobody shouts at me. Which is good, as I would probably cry if they did. As it is, I cry with frustration after every session because I am so disappointed at being the worst.

DolomitesDonkey Tue 07-May-13 21:03:05

I've just done day 5 and my shape is changing noticeably. smile I'll be in my new jeans by the weekend!

Leverette Wed 08-May-13 15:49:50

Just done day 4 and can see my thighs look better and I didn't want to collapse and die grin

Keep going people.

DolomitesDonkey Wed 08-May-13 17:51:42

I'm having a night off. Wore Birkenstocks for a couple of miles yesterday and have shredded the soles of my feet. Jillian - I'll get you tomorrow.

ScienceRocks Wed 08-May-13 18:47:11

Is anyone exhausted after shredding? I don't mean immediately after, I mean the next day. And the day after that. Even my eyelashes are tired, if you know what I mean.

DolomitesDonkey Thu 09-May-13 07:16:16

Actually I tend to find the opposite when putting effort in to exercise. I'm buzzing with endorphins and it fuels me to eat well.

Does that make sense? When I'm actually doing something really sensible about my health I go all-in and my body craves decent food. On saying that, Tuesday we took the kids to McD's and as usual they ignored their food and my husband and I ended up hoovering it up blush - I felt rough after my workout and actually got calf cramp during!

I think the food has a lot to do with it tbh.

Standingonlego Sun 04-Aug-13 23:33:13

I have just started again...on the August Shred thread...Now will get past level 1 this time blush
