Exercise

Can I successfully exercise after 8pm?

I am not a morning person and whilst I used to occasionally go to the gym before work (pre DCs) I could not get up before my 18mth old as he wakes anytime between 5:30 and 7am. My two DCs are in bed by 8pm so that is my free time. Please tell me it can be done and be successful. Does anyone else exercise at this time?

Absolutely!! I run, usually at 7:30pm but can't see that 30 minutes makes that much difference. I go out from my house and am back by nine so not too late to go to bed. I try to eat earlier but often have a quick snack afterwards. Pre DC's I used to find it took a while to wind down after excercise - now there is nothing (apart from MN!) that keeps me from my bed and sleep.

I can only run in the evening because thats the only time that DH can look after the kids. It hasnt been a problem for me, and I'm both overweight, and sleep deprived! I'm doing a 10k tommorrow which I've trained for so we shall see how successful evening exercise is ;)

I only run in the evening because that is the only time my running partner can do it - she has kids to put to bed - we have a lovely time running the streets in the winter and the fields in the summer at sunset.

I fit in the gym when I can - sometime this will be after 8pm at night or late afternoon or early morning if a weekend and they stay in bed (mine are much older)

Sometimes if I go to the gym after 8pm - like I did last night, then I get the pool after my workout to myslef...lovely like having me own private pool.

i usually go out around 7.30-8pm for around 45mins

Yes of course ! The best time to run is the time that suits you best.

Olympic records have mostly been set between 4 and 7 pm as the body is apparantly at its most receptive then.

Not that that ever bothers me ... I only ever run in the mornings when childcare is sorted, and its a sort of social thing with other mums from school.
