Finding a good bra

When I go to be fitted they try to put me into 34D which gives me backache and indigestion within a few hours of wearing it. If I insist from the start on wearing 36C instead, the fitter gets shirty and snippy.

So I don't want to go anywhere to be fitted; I just can't face their arrogance.

OTOH, I would like a good sports bra. I was thinking maybe Marks & Spencer might have a decent selection I could just try on in private. Any other suggestions where to go -- where I don't have to deal with shop staff but could find a decent selection of sports bras to try on? TIA.

Surely you can try on without the services of the fitter anywhere - M&S, big dept stores, specialist sports shop. Or measure very carefully and order a selection online...

Not the little specialist shops, you definitely don't choose and try on in private there.

Okay, thanks. It's so long since I did any shopping of new clothing in a real live shop (as opposed to charity shop or online) that I don't know what's possible any more .

I find that for sports bras I often have to go up one band width, so I get a 30F instead of a 28F. A good website to try is boobydoo or try bravissimo, they have shops around the country, plus a good website and they will advise you over the phone about size ... they are oddly very accurate over the phone
