oh and well done to all those who've just done this years!

Went to website out of idle interest really and found myself filling in the application form - site rather glitchy at password stage and thought not submitted but then had acknowledgement email bounce into mailbox, gulp! Seem to have entered the ballot, i know chances of getting place not great anyway but rather daunted/excited anyway at the thought! October seems quite far off at the moment though.

Anyone else applied yet?

I am doing the 2011 - my running mate is having a baby this year so we decided next year would be too soon and it gives me lots more training time.

I am hoping another friend who works for the Marathon company will be able to get us both a space!

Good luck to you - my friend reckons with the right training we can do it in less than 5hrs although I would be happy with less than 6!

ah, that's good. No idea how long I'd expect to take not even done 1/2 marathons yet. I guess there's also the charity place route but need to raise quite a lot of £ upfront I think.

I've entered the ballot - but unsure whether I would take it up if I got a place. I did it for the first time this year - and it was fantastic. two things put me off (and probably neither are what you might expect) - the state of my feet right now - toe nails falling off left right and centre - v. painful and stopping me from running; and the sheer hassle of it all if you don't live in London. I loved the training and I loved the day.

at the idea of a friend who works there getting you a space. I would be amazed (and, tbh, pretty appalled) if that were possible.

well done, hatwoman! Been following the other thread and v impressed with you all. How fantastic when your nails are dropping off?!
Would be a long training for me, longest distance I've currently done is about 12k but hope I could do it, lifelong ambition I've always had anyway.

i have applied so looking forward to my second rejection after last years one:-) i figure if i keep applying and keep getting rejected i will get a guaranteed place in 5 years time in the year i am 40:-)

Would also not be impressed if you could just get a place by knowing someone who worked at the company!

Tell me more about the hassle of doing it if you don't live in london?worried now!

Hoping to do 2011 if I can fit the training in but might have to wait until 2012 as DD2 will start nursery Sept 2011. Fancy doing either the Great North Run or Paris Half before that.

I've gone for it by entering via one of the charities who have guarenteed places. Just waiting to hear from them now.

I believe there would still be charity teams you could apply for if you want to run for them .
