Hi all
After finding out my iPhone counts my steps I was amazed to see how little I move. I have decided to increase my steps but need ideas how I can build into my life. I'm trying to have a walk at lunchtime but this is weather dependant. I don't get a lot of spare time so need ways I can build it in without noticing. Any ideas?

Sensible coat and shoes allow for more walking.
What is your life? Can you walk part of your commute, on the school run, to the shops. What sort of job do you have?
I clock 15,000 no problem, walking is part of my commute and I have an active job. I have some colleagues who do the same job in a sedentary manner.

Try to be inefficient. I realise I naturally try to avoid keeping going up and down the stairs for instance. Wander about while your brushing your teeth. Possibly while drying your hair. Avoid watching too much TV. Try to walk places rather than driving. If you have to drive anywhere, pick the furthest space from the entrance. I try to go to people's desks at work rather than phoning or emailing. Use stairs rather than lifts.
All this said, if I walk to and from work it's 10km in total, which gives me about 12,000 steps for a day. So I do wonder how less active people manage to get anyway near 10,000 per day.

I work in an office, need to drive to work as to far and awkard to get there any other way. It is a big office so some steps are from moving between meeting rooms

My Fitbit has changed my like. When I first got it I just tested how much I usually did. Next to nothing. Drive everywhere. I started going out of my way to get steps and now this is my everyday life. Walking absolutely everywhere where possible. I used to drive half the week to school, made excuses now I haven't driven in 2 years? Not even the rain will stop me. I walk to town daily when possible on lunch break, that was never on the cards before. Go for extra walks where possible etc. It soon becomes habit!

Have to say playing Pokemon go is an extra reason now as well!
