Come and join us in our attempt to do 30 min exercise as often as possible.

Set yourself a target (e.g. 5 days a week, 20 days a month, etc.). Any kind of exercise counts: walking, running, swimming, cycling, dancing - or any other activity that expends energy.

Ooh I'm in please! Currently doing 2 lots of exercise a week (1xgym session of hiit cardio, weights and some Pilates type core work and 1x 30 mins running). Have really got back into it over the last few months and am enjoying it much more now I'm fitter. Aim is to do 3x exercise sessions a week (1xgym 2xrun probably) building my run up to 5k+ (currently at 4k) and to continue doing 12k steps plus a day. Must resist the urge to buy lots more gym kit! Feeling very positive here, what's everyone else doing/planning?

Hi, can I join please? Started a thread in here for some exercise advice so have bitten there bullet and started. Will fairly active on a day-to-day basis but am trying to move from not too unfit to actually fit.

Am aiming for 3 half hour (ish) sessions a week of proper exercise. Going to be fairly flexible about it as that way I'm more likely to actually do it and fit it in with childcare. Have a history of stopping and starting! Did an exercise DVD today but picked the wrong level and it was a bit rubbish so went for a quick 2k run afterwards.

Thanks kanye - getting a head start on October, first 6am run (usually go after work) is tomorrow or I won't be able to go again until Saturday, hoping it's not still raining then! toostressy I saw your other thread - hope you find something fun to do, flexible sounds a plan.

Thanks daffodil. Going to be realistic and do a bit of a mix I think. Did my usual 3 minute run from the car park this morning (am usually cutting it fine to get to work on time) before I had to stop - really want to improve that as if I could run fast (as much as is realistic in no running gear) for 7 minute or so it would definitely improve my mornings :). Aiming for proper exercise 3 times a week though - will do whatever fits in with daily life!

How are you feeling after yesterday's shred, stressy?

Fine Confused. Arms a tiny bit sore and shoulders feel as if I used them. Generally a bit stiff but that is because I got 5 hours sleep on DD1's bedroom floor. Definitely need to be doing level 2 although may regret saying that!

Hello can I join please! I have been exercising at least 4 times a week recently as kids back at school but I'm back doing 1 or 2 12 hour shifts a week. Doing 30-45 minute classes of high impact aerobics, thighs and tums or pilates. Also started jogging again- up to 5km. Was trying to lose weight but difficult. I am going away for a week in October though, can try and do stuff when I'm away, in between eating and drinking!

Happy Friday everyone Smile and hello judd slightly awed by talk of level 2 of the shred - I haven't done it for ages but I remember level 1 being hard! I have to share, I just ran my first ever 5k! Well chuffed as I've only been for 5 runs to get to this point, previously I've tried c25k and got bored at week 5 - should have just jumped straight it in seems. Looking forward to a curry tonight to celebrate Grin and bring on October!

Happy Friday to all! Did just over 4K run this morning. Ran for all the time I had between school drop off and needing to jump in the shower for work. Pleased with myself as normally would have not bothered as had under half an hour but new plan is to be realistic! Also did a few press ups afterwards as was horrified at how bad mine were when I tried them last.

Definitely need s new sports bra though! And new trainers I fear. Can't remember when I bought mine so think they are about 7 years old if not more.

Well done daffodil! I used to be able to run 10k, now I'm struggling back.up.to 5. I'm in too much pain today to do anything - last night's circuit class was painful. And 3 hours' sleep isn't helping. Planning a run tomorrow.

Thanks toostressy and kanye I'm still chuffed but now it's dawning on me that I have to do it again... Hope you get a good nights sleep kanye and don't get the awful 'day after the day after' pain from the circuits class!

Hello everyone. Welcome to Octoberthon 2016

I've been in a bit of a rut exercise-wise of late. I'm maintaining my current level of fitness, but I've only been doing the bare minimum. I'm hoping to find the motivation to up the level a bit this month.

Today I did Killer Abs L1 (I mostly do workout DVDs - they fit in around work and kids).

My long-standing target for 2016 is to exercise on 300 days of the year. Today was my 223rd day - so I have 77 days more to go to reach my target.

Hello everyone I would like to join you although I am rubbish at updating every day as I try to limit my Mums net time to a few days a week

I will be honest and say I am really lazy, I tracked my steps through September and average about 5000 a day, I roped in a friend to do c25k with me but she bailed after 1 run and I haven't tried again since.
I think I need to set myself a weekly exercise schedule that I can tick off when I've done every day, as that will probably motivate me to keep it up, problem is I have no idea where to start so if anyone has any ideas I'd love if you can share them

I did a slow 5km but it wasn't terrible and only 2 walking breaks. My thighs are obviously transforming into Elle McPherson's given the ache from Thursday night.

Hi cinderbelly I reckon it'll probably be easiest to stick to if you find something you enjoy - have you done stuff previously you could pick up again? Agree about the schedule - I've managed to start back at exercise by making it a habit - e.g Wednesday after work is gym night. Wow oubliette that's impressive, and inspiring - my aim is to get to 15 days exercise (not counting walking) for October, first one is a run tomorrow afternoon. Grin kanye bring on Elle McPherson legs for us all!

Lol my interests have been watching tv and eating chocolate!
Joined a gym about 15 years ago - hated it. And couldn't afford it now.
Went to a yoga class - hated it.
Tried to do 30 day shred last week - nearly died!

Gosh I sound really negative don't I!

Cinderbelly Grin. There are some types of exercise I enjoy but they all seem expensive (I would love the gym) or to have classes at times I can't make.

Didn't do anything today but didn't plan to. Have felt tired and vaguely hungover all day and frankly will be glad to get into bed. Planning a run early tomorrow morning before I can change my mind. Slightly concerned as at the moment I am enjoying the smugness of exercising but is only the first week and I tend to lose interest. If I do I think I will see if I can somehow afford the gym as have taken a critical look at my tummy today and didn't like what I saw!

Cindebelly I know a lot of people have found doing couch to 5k to be a good way to get into exercise. I believe there is a version where you pretend you are being chased by zombies. Oh, and 30 Day Shred is really tough to begin with - although if you persevere it gets easier (4 to 5 days in if I remember correctly).

I switched DVD today and did 6 Week 6 Pack (6W6P) L1.
