How many classes a week should I aim to go to? I currently go to a class every monday, but for next week have booked in to classes on monday tuesday and wednesday. Is this crazy or is it doable to do a body pump class every night?

I try to do 3 a week - Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Don't know if I would do 3 days in a row though.

I often do 3 days in a row as they are the classes I can get to. The 1st couple of times I would drop the weight slightly on day 2 and 3 but usually find I can keep to the same weight all 3 now.

Day one of three done, but this one is my normal one so everything good so far...

Nbee84 thats the same reason why ive booked three days in a row, the class needs to be late ebough for me to get home from work, and there dont seem to be many late ones later on in the week.

Come back and let us know how you got on with the weights on day 2 and 3. After day 3 of pump I have a rest day (today) mainly as there are no classes that fit in with my work times but I figure it's a good day to rest after all those weights. I do another pump class on a Thursday and then body conditioning and spin on Fridays and Saturdays. Can you tell pump is my favourite class Grin

If you think about what is happening with any weight based exercise - you are actually effectively ripping (for want of a better word) and allowing the muscle fibres to rebuild (which is also the reason for the effect called DOMS or delayed muscle soreness). So, theoretically you should wait 48 hours between classes so that the muscles have a chance to repair before challenging them again otherwise you risk feeling weaker and more prone to injury also because your body is in constant repair mode it could bring down your immune system, basically do you more harm than good. If you are doing three consecutive nights might be a good idea to do something more cardio based on the middle night.

Disclaimer - that was what I was told when I became a body pump instructor - but that was a very long time ago (and I stopped teaching in 2003!). I used to teach on consecutive nights though and it wasn't the end of the world - wouldn't have wanted to do three though!

Yesterday i finished work earlier than expected so changed my booking to a fat burn class instead, and after the body pump today im glad I did! Still a bit achey from monday and struggled with moves ik normally very comfortable with, like squats and other lower body moves.

Found the instructor today very uninspiring though, amazing how much difference a good instructor can make! Much prefer the ones that take the monday and tuesday classes, so next week will probably do those ones and drop the wednesday one.
