I had a baby in january and as my name suggests I am quite overweight. I am making a commitment to myself to go from frumpy mummy to slightly less frumpy and I was wondering if anyone wants to join me.

I am going to do half an hour of exercise everyday... I am on day 5 so far and am slightly running out of enthusiasm... please give me the kick up the bum I need!!

Day 1 c25k w1d1
Day 2 c25k w1d2
Day 3 c25k w1d3
Day 4 jessica smith kickboxing
Day 5 jessica smith hiit.

Let's do this!!!

You're doing far better than me. I had a baby in October and haven't managed to do anything more than long walks with the baby. How do you find the time/ energy?

Thanks lonoxo. I am guessing you already work out as you are on this board...so any tips!?

Well I have only done 5days iemma321q so not sure I should be doling out the advice just yet!!! I set my alarm and workout before anyone else is awake. Do you fancy joining me?

Space out your days so you get some rest which is really important at recovery and strength building. Something more gentle like pilates would enable you to do your 30 mins, but without burning out and getting injured.

I walked the weight off with the baby in a buggy and my i-pod. I love walking and felt free and energised, especially as he slept most of the way.

What times your alarm set for?

iemma321q I set my alarm for 0615 this morning and went for a run. (C25k w2d1). Unfortunately my dh works shifts which is why sometimes it is a youtube video.

mrsmook thanks for the advise, do you think pilates is better than yoga? Can you recommend any youtube videos? How many days on do you recommend before a rest/pilates day...I really want to keep this up!

Thanks.

Wow I just did yoga with adrienne for beginners and I feel great!! Lovely rest day but also feel like I have done something. Back to the jessica smith workouts tomorrow. I hope no one minds me writing here each day as it is keeping me accountable. Does anyone want to join me to help motivate us?

Hello, I'll join you! I have just this week also decided to try to get moving every day and not just at weekends. I run mostly but also go to a circuits class once a week when I can, but have been a bit slack lately and it's been more like every second or third week. I have at least 2 stones to lose.

Great sunseed. Thank you for joining me. How far do you run...I am rubbish so far but only on week2 of c25k!? I am also starting the diet today...I have signed up for biwi's bootcamp. What is your plan for today?

I am going to parkrun this morning which I try to do every Saturday, so 5km. But it will be run with walk breaks in the style of c25k. I am very slow and always near the back of the pack, but I don't mind. I know I'd be faster if I wasn't carting about all this extra weight! Probably family BBQ this evening so I will have to really watch out how much I eat and drink - I know that I always consume loads more than necessary when eating outside.

I'll join you. I have 2 stone of baby weight too, baby is now 5 Shock
Ive shifted a bit this week usuing MFP and feel great, now I need to exercise so will do something for hand hour a day with you.
I find it hard to fit in a session as well as a shower, takes up so much time.

I will join you. I'm not so bothered about losing weight, although a little would be good, but I am really keen to increase my fitness generally. I have been doing lots more walking this year but the last couple of weeks have gone off track a bit.

Yesterday: Wii Personal Trainer intense session.

Me! I was doing so well with very fast walking last year, but then got very busy. Am about to get dressed and go walk to pick up our car from the pub (about 4 miles, DP left it there last night).

I have intermittent back problems so can't get past L1 of 30DS (the planks wreck my back).

Am planning a holiday for 8 weeks' time so would like to lose at least 8lb.

Welcome ledkr, wildernesstips and primallass, great to have you on board.

sunseed, I have never had enough confidence to do a parkrun but maybe I should give it a try. What level of c25k are you on? I am currently 90seconds running, 2 minutes walking but am building it up quite quickly. I did a Jessica smith YouTube dance workout this morning which wasn't great and then 5 minute yoga wake up which was nice.

ledkr, it is really hard to squeeze in which is why I do it first thing in the morning before my daily shower...I feel I am wasting less time that way. What do you plan to do? How many calories are you going for a day on map?

primallass do you eat a very primal diet?

So pleased you are all joining in.

Ooh can I join in too?

I've just finished level 1 of the 30 Day Shred. Had a few too many breaks so it took me three weeks to do. Planning to try and do it 5 days a week from now on though.

Definitely agree with the point about having rest days! I think ideally you should rest every other day? This doesn't have to mean actually doing nothing, just working a different set of muscles. I tried to do 30DS five days in a row but on day 4 my knee gave up on me so I couldn't do anything for a couple of days - so try to be more sensible than me to avoid injury!

How has everyone got on today? I did 40 mins walking and 20 mins mowing the lawn - much more than I intended.

I'm at a meeting for work next week, travelling there Wednesday afternoon and back Thursday evening. Any tips for trying to get my 30 minutes in those days? Especially given the number of biscuits I'll probably eat at the meeting...

I did 43 mins walk (3 miles), which was a bit short but I needed the loo. Am going out again in the morning and will do 5.

Good morning!

twostone I'm not still following c25k but I tend to revert to counting in my head to keep me moving. So I might run for the first mile then walk for a count of 20, run for count of 60, and keep that up till I've got round.

spam Will you have time on Thursday morning before your meeting starts to get outside for a 30 minute walk? Take your trainers with you so at least you've got them with you in case you get a chance to get outside. And what about first thing Wednesday before you go?

I'm probably just going to walk today..... had rather too much wine last night at family barbecue.

Wildernesstips · 15/05/2016 06:50

Spam Don't think about it as 30 minutes in one go - you could split it into two 15 minute sessions. Maybe just a walk around the block or two before breakfast and at lunchtime?
