Yep, I'm the same. I manage between 10k and 12k if I'm exercising but barely hit 6k if not. Sedentary office job, drive to work and lazy weekends.

1 mile express on you tube bumps me up!

Easily if exercise/ go for a run. Otherwise it's tricky to get past 6k

Like wise, difficult unless I put the effort in to go for a walk, or unless I'm going shopping for the day!

I manage 6 to 7,000 on a quiet day 15,000 on a busy day with a walk I generally do yoga/pilates and that barely registers. Currently on 9063 and just going to bed to binge on Gotham so not going to make it today

Like others, it's easy if I exercise or am on my feet a lot, otherwise I often only get to 6-7000. I then try to walk on the spot /round the house to up my step count (yes, I probably look mad Grin)

So far I feel compelled to hit the 10k no matter what but hasn't been a week yet. Went for a long walk in pouring rain on my own today and was not sociable! But i did it! I can't imagine this is sustainable! My friend says she smashes it every day. She doesn't have a dog. I can't work out how!

You do have to get out rain or shine to hit 10k. Walking in the rain is not the worst thing in the world but you can also go to the gym and do your steps on the treadmill instead, that's what I try to do. I've had a dismal March after pushing myself hard in February because I've started a full-time job in town - still manage 10k by parking in a more remote car park in the mornings, but not able to get a good walk in most days and I really don't like it. I've bought a treadmill, it arrives on Wednesday!

Our treadmill arrives on Tuesday!!! Hoping to avoid some rain as a result too!!!

I typically hit 9-11K on school days, occasionally more. 7K of that is just the school run. I do have a disability that means that, while achieving 15K isn't impossible for me, I'm absolutely wiped and in a lot of pain, afterwards.

I don't do nearly so well on non-school days, especially Sundays. I try to build a walk into the day, during school holidays, weather permitting (half term was atrocious and we didn't get out at all for 3 days!) but DS2 isn't all that easy to take out and go far with on a consistent basis (ASD and LDs and just too big, strong and obstinate for me, sometimes - and I have to hold his hand all the time!) so it's rare that I get anywhere much over 5K unless it's just me and DS1, for some reason.

when im really focussing on the steps i aim for at least 70k for the week, so i can afford to have a lazier day or 2 as long as i am going well over 10k a few times a week - usually at the weekend i am lazy - i have been known to be walking about the house at night when im close to the 10k just to tip me over

when not focussed and with no exercise i can on average 7k per day

I can manage 10k if I'm doing exercise but struggle on other days and normally 5-6k average! Although cleaning house top to bottom sees me hitting target but I'm not doing that everyday!!

On weekdays when I do school pick up I can do it easily. Weekends, never make it.

Easily, every day. So easy that I wonder if mine's not working.

(Sorry that sounded arsey. It wasn't supposed to - I genuinely wonder if mine is accurate)

I find on non work days I have to push to get to 8000 but on a work day (on my feet all day in a school) it is v easy.
I love having the dleep monitor of it as well as it explains why I am knackered. 8 hours in bed last night 5.45 hours awake or restless = today knackered.

atruth
It's easy to check - walk for 200 steps and see what yours registers! I found when I wear mine on my dominant side (right wrist) it isn't as accurate on step count! So I now wear mine on my left wrist Grin

Way too easy, I also wonder if it is accurate, I'll hit 10k even if I think I have just lounges around all day. I am an expressive talker with my hands though and I suspect this boosts it. My phone says my ave steps are a more reasonable likely 8k

Thethingswedoforlove · 27/03/2016 22:21

Atruth I tested mine by counting some steps and seeing if it agreed. Around 100. It agreed so I trust mine (by and large!)

The wolf - my phone never registers as many as my Fitbit so I reckon you might just be walking more than you think you are!

I find it difficult
I work in a cafe and am on my feet all day , but it's only a few steps from the coffee machine to the serving hatch , and I'm shattered after a busy day it's only maybe 6k steps
However , on a day out to see my son in London , even though it's 3 hours each way on the train , I managed about 15k steps easily ( and that was sightseeing and lunch out ! )

It's probably because you don't tend to always carry your phone but the Fitbit tracks your every move. I prefer the phone because I carry it when I am actually exercising, iyswim.

Agree wolf- so doesn't that reassure you that your Fitbit is right?

I have an old fashioned pedometer and on a lazy day do 3k. However if I'm travelling in London I tend to manage 8k even if I use underground and 10keasily if I walk. I do struggle though.
