Can anyone recommend any good podcasts I can download to run to? I'm starting to go for longer 10k+ runs and the sound of my own panting gets a bit boring after a whileSmile

I listen to Woman's Hour - the late night ones are good.

Also my local library has a free app where I can hire free audiobooks - those are keeping me going right now during running.

Serial is the most listened to podcast - I found it quite immersive. I haven't listened to Season 2 yet but am looking forward to it.

Have you tried 'Zombies,Run!'? I really enjoy it - you listen to your own music in between bits of storyline, with optional hoards of zombies chasing you that mean you have to increase your pace by 20%

I listen to the Friday Night Comedy from R4, Fighting Talk, Serial, This American Life, Confessions

When I'm training for longer races I have to find more than that because I seem to through them so quickly, but they are the ones I've stuck with now I'm pregnant and can barely stand let alone run Grin

.... Although I did once frighten a couple having a picnic when I was calmly jogging past then suddenly screamed and started running fast Grin

I listen to Mayo and Kermode for long runs, it lasts over 2 hours then I stick something else on for the last hour. Other than that, Graham Norton (around 50 mins), then lots of radio 4 programmes, Friday night comedy, back catalogue Desert Island Discs, The Archers omnibus, Woman's hour, the life scientific, medical matters, the food programme...most programmes in fact except Midweek as I can't stand Libby Purves for some reason

I use zombies too. The girl guides make me laugh as I'm involved in Guiding.

This is the thread for me!

I listen to r4 podcasts:
Saturday live and archers are good as they are long.

Infinite monkey cage, midweek, woman's hour, life scientific, word of mouth, Friday night comedy, kitchen cabinet. It depends really X

Thanks for all the suggestions. I looked at serial but I run down some quite isolated country roads but don't want anything spooky Blush [wimp emoticon] ! Will Google the other suggestions- now it's need to find headphones that don't keep falling out!

Ha - AngelicCurls - I had the same, I about scared the shit out of myself listening to serial and I run in London but through some isolated parts of parks (which is exactly what it in the podcast) - I may have done a few bad-form-too-fast-for-me runs through the scariest most isolated parts of my runs when listening to Serial!

I've given up on running in isolated areas - guess I'm with you in the wimp club.

Marathon Talk

It's not just for marathon runners, it's all about running though, humurous and interesting in equal measures. I love it.....

Marathon talk is great. I've never run a marathon and probably never will but it's all relevant. Great interviews. I've just listened to a vet recent one with a South African mum who had won comrades ultra marathon. She was great.

I agree with Infinite Monkey Cage. There is a huge back catalogue too.

I used to listen to The Bugle - topical / political comedy with Andy Zaltzmann, if it's still going; IIRC it was quite long episodes. Also Rhod Gilbert's podcast on radio Wales though that is only half an hour.

Sorry looks like the Bugle is only 30 mins too these days. Better make a playlist...

Glad I'm not the only wimp! Last night running past woods in the pitch black made me wish I'd taken the dog! Have downloaded a few suggestions, listened to kitchen cabinet last night- not mega interesting but passed the time, will look out the marathon one as well. Thanks for all the ideas

I'm big into podcasts. My faves are My Dad Wrote a Porno, S'laughter True Crime Podcast and The Guilty Feminist. All comedy ones.
