Shaun T - T25 Fitness DVDs - HELP!!! (pretty please)

I'm in need of a bit of help here as I have just dished out a small fortune for the T25 dvds but only managed to get through the first 5 mins and 38 seconds.
I wanted to bloody ball my eyes out but could only catch my breath to grab some water!
At the beginning of the year I was jogging at least 3 miles every morning before breakfast!!!
I had to stop during the summer due to childcare & work commitments taking up a lot of my time.

This is me now...

  • 10.5 stone
  • 5ft 4in
  • unfit
  • have thighs like a rhino
  • a belly a small buddha would envy
  • a bum that Kim Kardashian would pay good $$ dollar $$ for

..but, thank God, only 1 chin and semi-toned arms from refusing to use a trolley & only baskets to carry groceries around the aisles when shopping.

I don't eat junk food just (sort of large portions of) healthy fruit (covered in honey) & veges with loaded extras.

I always drink water (except for the homemade coffee 1st thing in the morning). I don't drink alcohol.

Has anyone else just started the T25 fitness DVD but only managed to do a micronised portion..?

Is this normal?

Please help, I need some encouragement.
Thank you!

Hello, I can't help you with the dvd you mention but just wanted to say that the first time doing exercise after a break is always awful! I've recently gone back to the gym and the first class I went to was terrible - I thought I was going to throw up and had to keep stopping to rest. Just a couple of weeks later and I can get through the class. Try the dvd again after a couple of days rest and I'm sure you will get further!

I think its about expectation management, you expected too much of yourself!

Now your over the shock and more grounded just start out again with a target of over 5:38 instead. Any improvement is good news!

Maybe you started out too hard and you can lower your expectations a bit now. Try doing some of each exercise, hoping to increase each time until you can do whole sessions, some you will find easier than others. Like interval training.

Going from 4 reps to 5 in each session is a 20% improvement!

Stick at it and try and include other active things in your lifestyle walking where possible trips on the bike etc. you are already doing some of the harder things like diet and alcohol control.

I would also advise trying to fit in some weight training, muscle burns more calories over a 24hr period (and you wont look like a bodybuilder) just by adding some but will help with your overall shape. A set of dumbbells from Argos can be kept at home and fitted in and around other times, it will even have a list of exercises you can follow.

Single chin up and carry on.

Thanks @GPC557
I'm still on the first dvd of T25 but I can now do 10 mins with only 2 stops.
Next week I'm going to fit in some weights.
Thanks again!

You have doubled your time - well done Star

Maybe you were going at it too hard, I can do the 1st dvd but would struggle to jog 3 miles? We would love to have another shaunTer on this thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/exercise/2376323-Beachbody-THREAD-2-Insanity-T25-etc there are some hardcore and significantly less hardcore {me!} folk on there.

PS a few of us think that alpha is possibly harder than beta so don't be put off. Also don't keep doing the 1st workout until its perfect as you will get bored before that happens....try following the schedule but just go as far as you can on each one and like you are doing now aim to improve your times etc. Are you following the modifier?
