I'm in! Thanks for setting it up addictedtosugar.

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 21/05/2015 20:01

Fab! I tried to start one last night but was on my app and kept getting an error message.

God my legs ache today. I am walking like a demented duck.

Bramshott · 21/05/2015 21:34

I do!

I am still early on - just did W1R2 today. W1R3 for over the weekend. I have a question though - next week will be tricky, and for various immovable reasons there will only be 1 day I can run. Would you do W2R1 and then just continue into the following week and not worry about the weeks being split, or do W1R3 again?

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 21/05/2015 21:43

Bramshott- I would just continue with the program rather than repeating (unless you really struggled with wk1r2). The important thing is not to lose impetuous though!

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 21/05/2015 21:45

Sorry meant wk1r3 not wk1r2. Think you will get a sense of achievement from going up a week too. I get so chuffed when I progress a week.

Bramshott · 21/05/2015 21:51

OK - thanks! Will just carry on, and not worry too much if a "week" isn't an actual calendar week.

GlowWine · 22/05/2015 08:25

Hello here I am, W2r3 under my belt. Roll on Sunday! bramshott do what feels right and make sure you don't lose the momentum. This week I repeated w2r3 so that I can start the challenge of a new week on Sunday when I'm not rushing to get back home before DH needs to leave the house in the morning. The 'week' thing is just for convenience and you should leave at least one rest day between runs..

Wiifitmama · 22/05/2015 08:30

Marking my place as I am about to head out the dirt for W2R3

fierypoppy · 22/05/2015 08:36

Hi, I´d love to join. Could not use the NHS app, but downloaded another and I like it :)

AppleSnapple · 22/05/2015 12:34

aahh here you all are! I was looking at the other one wondering why it's gone quiet, not noticing the 1000 posts...!!!

My big challenge coming up is that I'm away next week... Determined to fit in my 3 runs and will be packing my stuff... Have asked DH to force me out if I look reluctant Grin off to France so will need to run off all the delicious bread and cheese and wine..., mmmmm YES must be disciplined!!
Good luck all for the week!

TheHoundsBitch · 22/05/2015 12:37

Can anyone recommend a programme? I haven't run for over a year and I've signed up for the Race for Life Confused Shock

SwingingBalls · 22/05/2015 14:07

Hi. Hope you don't mind me joining in Smile

I'm a regular at the gym but decided to download the c25k as an extra activity as I've got just over half a stone to lose. It's not so much being unfit, it's problems with my knees ( I think the menopause is affecting my joints) so I thought using the app might get me running without any aches and pains ie. building up slowly. My app is 8 weeks long, I don't know if that's the norm?

My next run is w3r1 and, so far, I'm not experiencing any pain.

TheHoundsBitch I searched for c25k in apps and loads of choices came up. I just used the most popular free one and it seems ok.

fierypoppy · 22/05/2015 14:17

Swingingballs, I guess we have the same app - or they´re all the same :) Mine is also 8 weeks :) I thought I´d start running c25k to build some stamina, also I´d love to lose some weight.

AppleSnapple · 22/05/2015 14:41

Hound- I use the c25k generic one from the App Store but lots of the people on here use the NHS one (it's free) because there is a lady called Laura on it who is super motivating!! (I'm a recent convert!) you can play your own music while running the app on your phone.

TheHoundsBitch · 22/05/2015 16:01

Thanks, I'll take a look!

Tinwe · 22/05/2015 17:32

Just marking my place having come over from the lady thread

Tinwe · 22/05/2015 17:32

Last not lady!! Lol

Iggi999 · 22/05/2015 17:43

Why has my app got 9 weeks then? I feel cheated!
Hello, hope I can post, I used to be on this thread last year but stopped running with general winter ill-health - am now back just about to start week 8. Smile

malefridgeblindness · 22/05/2015 19:13

Did w6r3 yesterday and felt okay. With half term next week my runs will be disrupted so I think I'll start w7 tomorrow if I can motivate myself to...

I found w6 tough so fingers crossed for next week.

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 22/05/2015 19:32

Hello to all! Great to see some new people getting into it, it does get addictive as you can feel your progression through the weeks.

Apple that's going to be a true test of your motivation! Imagine how virtuous you will feel though when you're scoffing your baguettes and saucisson Grin

For those asking I use the 9 week NHS app with Laura. She's fab and knows just when to pipe up and offer encouragement. It's uncanny I sometimes think she's watching my puffing and panting.

Did wk7r1 tonight, not too bad. Well not totally hideous anyway.

I tend to try and run every other day so the 'week' element is in name only.

Good luck over the weekend everyoneSmile.

locketpocket · 22/05/2015 19:42

A nice shiny new threadSmile

I'm off to my first parkrun tomorrow. Should be fun, there are lots of runners from ds athletic club. Just as long as I don't come last.

I really wish Laura did a 5k to 10k app, think I need something to work to.

Ido - I have definitely been bitten by the running bug, really miss it if I don't go for a few days.

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 22/05/2015 22:37

Ooh there's a gap in the market there Locket. Hey perhaps you could make new 5k to 10k app and be the new 'Laura'. I'm sure we could come up with some phrases for you to add in to make us feel like the athletic goddesses we are Grin

Surelyshirley4 · 23/05/2015 07:59

Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this but locketpocket I have just discovered some podcasts called NHS Couch to 5K + and guess who is on them, our very own Laura!! They are orange and have "Audiofuel" on the logo if you're looking for them. There are about 6 of them I think (with intro or no intro option). It's not a 5-10k app which I was also looking for too but they are to increase your speed I think. Haven't tried them yet but going to give them a go - I'm just not that keen on giving up my own music yet for some rather strange "beat type" music that Laura wants me to run to!!!
