Sore throat, cold, congestion - will running make it worse?

Training for a half marathon in May and have missed a few sessions recently due to travel. Have an opportunity to run this morning because a meeting has been cancelled but feeling quite ropey with sore throat, croaky voice , congestion etc and wondering if running will slow down recovery? Just keen not to fall too far behind with training. Any thoughts?

I have had similar for most of winter and have not stopped training (maybe it would have cleared up if I had ;) )

My old gym instructor used to say to carry on while all symptoms were head related, but stop and rest if it went to your chest. Tbf that was probably 20 years ago, don't know what current advice it but that's what I have always done.

Since having kids I spend so much of the winter ill that I would never train.

If I am ill I just 'know' when I am not up to training and if I did any I'd feel so rough pretty quickly that I'd want to stop.
Perhaps that just comes from experience but really ?I never need to consult any rules about is it above or below the neck etc, I can just read how I feel

decided against it in the end. Just a bit too wiped out. Thanks to you both for the advice

Sounds like a wise decision. Have you time to have a walk instead, to see if some fresh air makes you feel better?

When you are starting to feel better an easy run can perk you up. At the start of a cold I just rest rest rest.

Well, I left it another day and I'm still feeling coldy and with an annoying cough but considering a late night run once another adult is in the house so I can leave the kids ( who are asleep upstairs). Will report back on whether it has a positive or negative impact...
