Hi, I've been with my PT for almost a year now. Happy with my results, feel comfortable working out with him but I'm just wondering if I'm being too relaxed with him?

Every week I have to chase him up to book a session in, his communication and organisation skills are dreadful. He will either not arrange a session at all or expect me to fit in last minute.

I have spoken to him several times now about this and explained that letting me know last minute just doesn't work for me. Yet, here I am again with no session booked in for this week.

Unfortunately, I have paid up front and have about another 2 months worth of sessions but I am really fed up now.

Sorry bit of a moan but do feel disappointed - would appreciate any advice? Do I need to be brutal now or just accept it?

Either way, I don't think I will be renewing again. I also don't have any other experience of personal trainers so don't know if this is 'normal' and I'm expecting too much??

This is absolutely not normal. I'd be asking for a refund. He is taking the mickey...he is effectively working for you. I suspect had you not paid him upfront he might be a bit less relaxed about fitting you in, but regardless he really should be treating you in a professional way (which he isn't).

My trainer is so different. We have a regular session but she is always happy to try to fit around my work as and when we need to reschedule. I always know exactly when we're meeting a week in advance. I don't think that's unusual!

Unless there's a massive shortage of personal trainers where you are I can't understand why you would put up with this. You don't owe him the business - he needs to be good enough to keep you as a client and I can totally understand why you are frustrated. He sounds like a nightmare.

Thanks for your response Purple. Good to know I'm not expecting too much.

I almost feel like cutting my losses now and doing my own thing for a while, classes etc

I've made a decision to not chase him this week and see if he does contact me. It may be best if I take a couple of weeks off to see if he ups his effort. I honestly feel like I'm harassing him for a session and even said those very words to him hoping he would take the hint but no! He just didn't seem to get it at all.

I think part of the problem is he's very open with me in the session, discussing his personal life etc and possibly feels like its fine to not be that professional.

Just needed confirmation that he actually is as bad as I think!!

He's not being professional what's so ever by the sounds of your last post. I've had a coach for the last 18months email or text each other almost daily sessions are arranged a week in advance I have more than one a week. My diet is reviewed frequently and my workout program is changed monthly which is logged at every session I email him my log so we can see improvements week in week out on my strength. No stone goes unturned to reach my full potential and hit the goals we set. Sounds like yours needs a good wake up call
