What exercise to do today? Bit ill

For a couple of months now I've been running and going to the gym 2 or 3 times a week. On a good day I can run 5k in about 30 mins. Some days I would do about 3km and also rower or cross trainer for a bit at the gym.
I feel a bit under the weather today and have since Friday. I haven't been to the gym or ran since Thursday and I'm really missing it! It's a slight chesty cough and I'm a bit achy. Nothing major.
My question is can I exercise today? I can go to the gym, would a light session hurt? Maybe a 2.5 km jog and a couple of other machines? Or would you keep resting?
Thank you

I think if you miss it, it's a sign that you're ready to do something. If you were feeling like death, lying in the sofa it wouldn't occur to you to do exercise would it?

Just take it easy, and listen to your body. You could always do something like pilates/yoga which has less impact?

Thanks. I'll just do a gentle session. I love my exercise now, never thought I'd say that a few months ago! This cough is annoying me though. My immune system has generally been much better since I started running too.

Infection below the neckline (ok for drippy nose and sore throat but not chesty cough) means you're supposed to avoid training.
