safe places to run in Leeds

Need some advice from any regular runners from Leeds. I am attending a conference in November at the Queens Hotel in the centre of the city and will be there for two nights. Don't want to miss out on training runs and was hoping some regular runners could advise me in nice and, crucially, safe places to run. I know Leeds is a lovely city and was pleased to know that the hotel was not far from Woodhouse Moor parks. But I have a pathological fear of pitbull/rottweiler type dogs (there are barely any round me...I live in Surrey which is terribly nice! All dogs are Golden Retrievers and spaniels). I know Woodhouse Moor is the venue for the Leeds parkrun so obviously a good place to go. But what are the dogs like? And their owners? Is it a nice park? Read online there had been issues with a few attacks on students in recent years.
