I'm back from hols and starting another round of 30 Day Shred ... with bigger weights this time. Smile

Just been on a trip around Edinburgh trying to find some weights so the tins of baked beans can go back into the cupboards Grin

Just checking in withe the new thread. Rest day for me tomorrow, but my legs look very different 6 days into level 3. I have dents above my knees I am not sure I have had before. Good dents too.

I can't begin to imagine the one direction thing, my DC are too little, but I expect it will come around quickly.

Ri30L1D4 - done while stopping to stir dinner after every ab circuit, lol.

The 1D thing has been horrible - not because DD's going, but because we ordered her friends' tickets as well and of course if you can rely on anything about teenage girls it's that given months to plan going somewhere...they'll all fall out beforehand.

So the moral is, buy for no-one except people you're related to and even then be picky, lol.

Report
AnyaKnowIt · 03/06/2014 19:32

So you had a spare ticket?

I'm dreaded dd becoming a teenager!

Report
tabulahrasa · 03/06/2014 19:42

No, it was paid for and she had it, no-one got a ticket without money, I wasn't doing that, lol.

What we had was one girl suddenly deciding last night that she wasn't giving another two a lift after all and was going by herself, which meant DP couldn't travel in with a neighbour and instead I had to go and collect girls from 2 different schools...then there was the last minute panic because the going in by herself girl may not have got in without an adult and no-one could get hold of her.

We've still got the how does DP get the lone 13 yr old to a parent without missing the last tram to the park and ride without leaving her wandering Edinburgh alone drama to come.

I mean I wasn't very happy with the idea of leaving 3 of them, but just 1? It's her parents' choice really I suppose, but I don't like it at all - we don't live in town, we're in West Lothian.

All while she's not speaking to any of the other girls, fun, lol.

Report
AnyaKnowIt · 03/06/2014 19:51

Bloody hell! See what you mean.

I know its her parents problem but don't think I could leave a 13 year old out alone.

Report
tabulahrasa · 03/06/2014 20:00

I know!

But, if there's no-one there to get her because of the roads being closed he'll need to just leave her where she's meeting them or he'll be stuck through there and I can't even go get them because he took my car, lol.

To be fair, I seem to be stricter than everyone else...they go skating through there sometimes and I'm the only one that insists on picking DD up instead of letting her get the last bus home on a weekend - I've got that bus, no way would I let her get it.

30DS L3 D2 done!

More Anita than Natalie at the moment, but still. I cannot do those plank things where you lean on the weights and lift your arm then leg, it hurts my hands too much.

I think I am also just starting to see some changes in body shape, at long last!

Report
tabulahrasa · 03/06/2014 20:04

I really struggled with them toriana - I just did as many as I could and then went on my knees...by the end of the level, like literally the last day I was still only managing about four full ones before going on my knees, lol

ImogenQuy · 03/06/2014 20:07

Marking place. Did L2D4 of 30DS this morning. I'm a slightly feeble version of Natalie for most of it (but cannot do the double jump ropes to save my life).

TorianaTollywobbles · 03/06/2014 20:14

I know, tabulah, I end up doing mostly on my knees, but then that feels a bit too easy, iykwim.

Rest of L3 not too bad though, seems to go really quickly which is a good thing Grin oh apart from the scissor leg crunches which are quite painful!

Welcome back Errol I've missed you. How many months after starting JM did you feel you had solid results body looks/measurement wise?

Tabulah I am so not looking forward to the teenage years. I am a way off but it all creeps up altogether too soon. A good and dear old friend of mine had kids far earlier than I did and her 16 year old's traumas have us both horrified and grimly nostalgic in equal measure.

I ordered weights via Amazon and they are good for all those planks with weights moves as they have a sort of hexagonal roundy bit to make balancing on them a bit easier IYKWIM.

30DS L2 D5 done. I'm finally getting the hang of the oblique twists - I can't do them fast and get them right, but at least I'm doing roughly the right move instead of some uncoordinated flailing about! I also managed two sets of squat thrusts (although I may not have been jumping my legs very far on the second set...)

Still can't do the double jump ropes though. I'm doing single ones instead in a rather feeble way.

Not exercising today as I leave home at 6 on wednesdays, but for Yadah, just did the strange crouch walking thing (RI30 L3, circuit 1, strength exercise 2) in the ladies at work. It is much, much easier in 3.5 inch heels.

(not sure why I did that, they have floor to ceiling mirrors and wanted to see what I looked like)

tabulahrasa · 04/06/2014 10:33

I'm resting today, well you know other than doing normal stuff - I think maybe I should get a day where I literally rest, lol.

yadah - DS is 18, he was a breeze compared to DD, I'm expecting a fabulous evening with her as she'll be shattered because I'm evil and didn't give her any time off school. It's a bit like having a giant hormonal toddler really, say no or let them get overtired and you get a big tantrum.

I'm pretty sure most of my efforts are uncoordinated flailing tbh, though I've never actually tried doing them in the ladies to see, rofl

I typed a long post last night ... my new laptop is currently for some reason having the same parental controls applied to it as DD's, which stops her doing anything after 10pm. Hmph. Still, better that than allowing a teen to be on FB all night Grin. Actually she's quite sensible - not a 1D (or any other manufactured band) fan, thank goodness! She's 15 and seems to be over the (quite mild) 'kevin' stage ... she's more likely to rant about the stupidity of her classmates nowadays which can be quite amusing.

Oh dear I am not going to do my Ripped session today due to having fallen asleep after lunch and having plans to visit my dad this afternoon/eve. This is all down to the fact that I have not felt in the zone enough to attack it first thing in the morning. I think I am going to have to set an alarm from tomorrow and get it over and done with.

Lambzig I bet it's bloody easier in 3.5in heels. That duck walk is a killer. Got my DH to try it yesterday and his knees were clicking like castanets. Quite heartening as he is younger than me...

Till tomorrow then.

I have to say the only way I manage to do the Shred is to get up early and get it done before I've even had my coffee - then I have coffee and shower before DS gets up and I feel virtuous and ready for the day. I couldn't do it after a day at work.

Having today as a day off, ankles still hurt a bit

Report
Lambzig · 04/06/2014 19:43

Duck walk that's what it's called. I think the heels have your calves in the right position (contemplates doing it in heels tomorrow. I did it again later this afternoon, it looked strangely elegant.

30SL2D6. Less good than yesterday - copped out of the second set of squat thrusts and followed Anita. And my ankles are hurting again. I was planning to have Saturday off but maybe I'll have tomorrow instead.

Ri30 L3D7 done before the school drop off. Yay. Managed it by setting an alarm for 6.45am. Made the whole morning that much easier to get out of bed that bit earlier. imogen I had lots of aches and pains during Shred as it was a very intense reintroduction to exercise for a body that had not done anything that hard for a few years. Take it easy where you have to is my advice.lambzig I spent whole of duck walk imagining you doing it in the loos with your high heels on ... Kept me going.
