Thanks Sirzy! I did feel slightly panicked we were all lost Wink

I do 4-5 miles on Monday/tues, 4 miles thurs, 3 Saturday and deepening on what I'm doing at the time 6-12 on Sunday. I used to train with the club weds but now I work until 7pm I can't go so really just go and run. Parkrun is my speed run I guess, Monday is faster just because of who I run with.

Feet just read your comment on the other thread. I like the idea of people feeding me sweets as I run!

I joined at the back end of thread 3. No run today - I was waiting in for a delivery so did L2 of 30 Day Shred instead - but hoping to go after work tomorrow, providing I can get some childcare. DS came with me on a short run last Sunday but there was quite a bit of walking involved (he's only 7) and I want to just run. Hopefully I won't have to work late, as I'm quite looking forward to getting out there. It'll be my third run Smile.

Just checking in and marking my place.

On frequency, when I was marathon training last year I ran T/W/Th (usually 4-6 miles each day, sometimes a bit more); parkrun on Saturday; and a long run on Sundays. I followed a plan religiously

Now I try (but don't always manage) to run Tuesday and Thursday (I have a regular Thursday lunchtime run date in my diary with a running buddy, though usually one of us is too busy to make it), parkrun and longer on Sundays.

Checking in for Thread 4.

Was hoping to run first thing tomorrow but have just had a major leak all over the kitchen floor. Stopcock turned off and all mopped up but suspect I will be spending the morning waiting in for the plumber Angry

that is my ideal running week, with mondays and fridays off

am trying to cobble two of galloway's plans - his 4hr marathon and whatever the other one is called - together to see if I can be ready-ish for Berlin

someone just sent me a text message saying if am not ready for Berlin there is always the Norwich half marathon Hmm am sure that will be a lovely event but is not EXACTLY the same is it?

Sorry Mitchy1nge, exactly what are you coming back from? The threads so busy I can't remember what you injured! Norwich certainly isn't Berlin!

No run for me today. Transport disruption in London meant I walked fast from home to Pall Mall though, not sure how far it is as Endomondo went funny on me but I think about 9 km. Then walked back as far as Angel, although that was in two stages, with a swift gym workout in between.

I am getting the right yips about the idea of this half-marathon on 22 June Hmm. The very furthest I have ever run is my just-under-nine-miles effort on Sunday. I think I'm really going to struggle to do enough running to be doing twice the race distance per week. And I was a bit unnerved to see that my training plan (an Endomondo one) doesn't actually include a 13 mile run - in fact the furthest is 10 miles. Confused

oh it was a grade 2 strain, soleus, right leg

and I just didn't adhere completely fully to the resting and physio so strained the same muscle in the other leg while it was compensating for the first

and both of those things have somehow just led to or left me with nagging achilles and plantar fasciitis but these have also improved with rest

should really have gone to physio much sooner but I just assumed after a while that it was all meant to be quite painful Confused

(this really brings out the hypochondriacal malingerer in me Blush)

anyway have drawn a line under physio as £££y and know what to do now

original - you could easily peasily just increase your long run according to the 10% rule or the mile per runs per week rule in time for the end of June! you just drop back every couple of weeks

cinnamongreyhound · 29/04/2014 23:16

That's quite normal originalpiratematerial, personally I've always gone upto 12 but most people I know only train to 10!

Wow, so quite a bit then Mitchy1nge, does your physio think you'll be back to fitness for Berlin? Is it a case of you won't do it or just that you won't do it as you want to timewise?

Report
OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 29/04/2014 23:19

original - lots of half marathon plans only have you going up to 10 miles. You will be just fine Smile

cinnamon have you made your mind up yet about St Neots/Norwich?

Checking in for new thread.

A question for the more experienced runners among you.id like to run three times a week. I do Thai boxing on Saturdays and kettlebells on Tuesday, I also need to factor in 3 weights sessions and preferably one more Thai boxing class which could be on a Thursday night.

Which days would you run?

Report
originalpiratematerial · 29/04/2014 23:37

ooh ouch, Mitchy - I hope that you can get fully fit in time for Berlin (when is it?).

Thanks for the reassurances about half-marathon Smile. So...I think I'm sure I can make my long run longer. But how far in advance of the race itself do I need to be running 26+ miles a week? I did quite well last week - about 22 miles - but this week is proving challenging, what with tube strike and all. I would have run in today but I had to go to a conference in Pall Mall and couldn't really arrive there all puffed and sweaty in running gear Grin. Am planning to run in to work tomorrow though.

original - I am running a HM on Monday. I've checked back and according to my garmin I've run 20 miles this week (last 7 days). This will not be my first HM, so I've been a bit casual with the training - I ran the distance a couple of Sundays ago just to see if I could before I registered. I am not particularly speedy, and seem to have pretty much the same time for most HMs I've done regardless of training, how much weight I'm carrying or what the course is like (I improved quite a lot from my first two, which were both in extreme weather, and have plateau-ed ever since). Just take it easy and enjoy it if you can Smile

Mitchy I hope you manage Berlin not least so we can all live vicariously through your training and running

Rhonda - no advice, that sounds like a lot of exercise already!

Report
RhondaJean · 30/04/2014 00:09

No I think I could double up on exercise. I'm doing a session with a personal trainer on a Friday (mostly) just now and that is vicious so I'd rather avoid it.

It is a lot, but I've got a lot of fitness to make back up after a similar injury to Mitchy - I had to go to a and e, my muscle popped and I ended up crutches, emergency nhs Physio, etc and it's taken me 9 months to get back to this point. But I know running will shift the weight, the weights will shape me, and I enjoy the classes.

Oh and each run will be5k so not a huge distance.
