I am a full time midwife & mother of two who is very (underline) unfit. I need to lose weight.
I honestly don't know when to fit in exercise in to my extremely busy & exhausting life or what exercise to do?
HELP mnetters please

I do a 30 min dvd at 7-7:30 once the children are asleep before starting my marking for the evening.
I couldn't fit in anything requiring more time this is why the 30day shred works well for me. 20-30 min dvd that show results quickly to ke me motivated when I'm shattered!
how old are your children?

I walk to the cm in the morning, and then back in the afternoon. Does that count?

Mine are 2 and 4
I swim with ds's every eve 6-7pm ( pool down road)
Or I run and they scoot/ cycle along.

As babies I put them in double jogger and ran each day

I'm doing the couch to 5k 3 times per week. I make DH get home on time, put dinner in the oven and go do my run or leave DH to it. It only takes 45 minutes inc a really quick shower afterwards. I go twice in the week and once at the weekend.

He is also doing it but will either go before I get home with the sprog or after bedtime.

If you have time to sit and watch the telly in the evenings, you have time to exercise. Inclination on the other hand...

My kids are 2 & 4, I have to drive to child minder as we are semi rural and child minder lives in town near hospital at work I get home between 5-6 depending on days events at work, I am then absorbed with children til they in bed, 7.30-8, then I eat, then it's bed about an hour later cos I'm so exhausted, I was wondering about fitting in a run between work & picking up kids?

My DP watches ds whilst i run. Ideal time to start - nice light nights! Look into Couch to 5k - its designed for absolute beginners.

Wonderful thing about running is you can do it whenever, so it fits in nicely.

I go to the bloody gym at 6.15am before work.

Can you tell how much I love it?

I'm with shiny 30 day shred but only on day 7 so far!

no other time in the day for me as mine aren't sleeping well so I can't bear to sacrifice an hours sleep in the morning.

i get home, put the boys to bed then jump around like a mad thing for 28 mins in front of the tv, eat, work, flop

its depressing to think that i'll have to do this every day for ever but its got to be better than the alternative slow slide to increased wobbliness...

I go running quite late in the evening after the dcs are asleep and any housework's done. It means dh and I have a bit less time together, but I'm only gone 30 mins or so.

To save precious evening time, we always eat tea with the boys at 6ish.

I go running three times a week when I get home from work. I have to walk the dog anyway as no other bugger ever does it Hmm

I recommend Davina Mcall DVD's. They have different 20 minute workouts, if I'm busy I may just do 15 minutes of one a couple if times a week. The bums and leg one is good, loads of squats.

I run, or do turbo trainer (like an exercise bike), plus ds can swim well enough so I can do lengths while he swims.

In the OPs case I would run between work and CM

With great difficulty.

I tend to go for a run when the DC are at after school clubs. If DH is not at home, any child not at the club comes with me on their bike. I also have been known to run circuits round playgrounds.

It's getting easier now the nights are lighter, it was hugely difficult through the dark and wet weather.

I get up at 5.30 every day and do half an hour on the Wii Fit or go for a half hour run. We have to be out the house by 7.15 to get to childminder. I might add that firstly I am a morning person so it's not as bad as it sounds, also I am so unhappy and desperate about my appearance that something had to be done.

MinesAPintOfTea · 08/04/2014 11:47

I get up early and go running first thing before DS is awake when DH isn't away with work. Plus get out at the weekend.

Jellylove · 08/04/2014 11:54

Sadly I am not a morning person and my eldest wakes at 5.30 which doesn't give opportunity to for an early morning routine

I do the 30day shred dvd twice during the week (its 3 levels of half-hour workouts and each workout includes a warm up and cool down) - 3 days a week I have to be in work "early" so no time for me to squeeze it in, but on the other 2 days, I get up the same time I do when I'm in early and do it then. Occasionally try to do it once at the weekend. I've lapsed just recently, but will be getting back on the bandwagon properly once the school holidays are over. Even just doing it twice a week I have noticed the difference ... but it is very hard to find the time to slot it in!

Eat with the kids, and then go running after they are in bed. Much better now the evenings are lighter. Sod housework.
Over the winter, I took my running stuff to work, and twice a week had a hrs luch break - 30-40 mins run and shower. Stuff food in mouth while typing.
I started with Couch to 5km nearly a year ago.

DH goes to the gym twice a week after the kids are in bed.

Artandco can you actually swim lengths with the kids in the pool? Mine can't be left, and are a similar age to yours. I never feel like I've excerised having swum with them in the pool to.

I get off the train a stop earlier than I need to, and walk the extra.

Park at cms and run/walk to work if in a hospital then there will be a shower you can use, this is what I do 3x a week. It just means being organised enough to bring in clean clothes and food for the running days on the driving days IYSWIM
