That's it really. I've been challenged to sum it up in one sentence and I'm interested to know why you run. Grin

I love the freedom and the stress relief it provides.

I saw a quote that said "I run because its cheaper than therapy" and that sums it up quite well (other than the cheaper bit running clothes are too tempting!)

It keeps me sane. Mostly.

I've heard it's good for your knee's
(I dont run muchBlush, just a big of treadmill jogging/intervals)

I feel better afterwards.

That's it. I never look forward to it, I don't particularly enjoy it while I am doing it, but I feel awesome and invincible afterwards. And not just straight after - for the rest of the day and in general. I'm so much fitter and stronger because of running.

Thanks all.

Pepe I can completely relate to that. Grin

because I love the wind in my hair, the sun on my face, and the pride in what my (aged, broken) body can do

pepe that is exactly what I wanted to say!
I only took up running a year ago when I started the C25K. I always said I wasn't built to be a runner but here I am really doing it! I'm no marathon runner but can quite happily do 6 miles.
The way I feel after and like you say for the rest of the day is amazing.

....it's the only time it feels like I'm not running.

It's free, can be done any time, and I have a huge appetite that needs a counterbalance.

I run because then my children can't catch me.

It's about the easiest, cheapest form of exercise to fit into a busy life. Before children I used to play tennis and squash, go windsurfing and sailing and mountain climbing, areobics classes etc. They all took time and organsation, or a friend.
With running you don't need a friend or a sports club or lots of time.

also it makes me feel super-smug when I've been on a run even though I'm not very good. It's a great mood enhancer.

Because I love it and it makes me a better person.

Bapple · 12/03/2014 22:52

because it is cheaper than anti-depressants and the side effects are much more bearable.

...I love my body working in the way it is meant to work rather than me sitting on the sofa watching telly!

All of the above! Oh, and it keeps my asthma at bay.

Something's chasing me... Grin

In all seriousness, I need to start to do some exercise, and now that DH has switched to day shift after over 2 years of permanent nights I finally can.

It's the only time I don't think about anything at all. Nothing. Just listening to the rhythm of my feet pounding the treadmill.

I ran 4K for the first time today. It felt good, really good.

I'm aiming for 5k next week.
